Excellence Playa Mujeres, Cancun
Those looking to get away from the buzz won’t be disappointed by the Excellence Playa Mujeres. The half-hour drive outside Cancun means you're miles from restaurants, nightlife, and its famous strip of sprawling resorts, but that’s probably okay: instead, guests are welcomed with chilled towels and flutes of champagne; the 450 rooms have marble floors and pillow menus; there's a long list of activities from bike tours to beach volleyball to archery; and its 11 bars and ten restaurants are more than enough to satisfy your appetite, whether that's for tapas or lobster. Book the swim-up suite for direct access to the main pool, or better yet the two-story villa, which comes with its own pool on the roof.

Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun
While there are scores of Secrets scattered across Mexico, this one is a favorite among honeymooners. We're talking 412 suites all with balconies or terraces and in-room whirlpools for two, a 13,000-square-foot spa worth the extra fee, and probably the best-maintained beach of any all-inclusive you'll find (it's lined with sun beds, cabanas, and palapas). Did we mention the ground floor swim-up suites with instant pool access?

El Dorado Casitas Royale, Riviera Maya
The adults-only El Dorado Royale is arguably the best in the Karisma Hotels portfolio, but El Dorado Casitas Royale, a hotel within the hotel, takes it to the next level. Guests have the run of the main property's bars, restaurants, pools, and spa as well as Royale’s own swim-up bars and restaurants (there are seven each), which are reserved exclusively for Casitas guests. At day’s end, retreat to one of the 171 suites, which come with outdoor showers, covered balconies, and reserved thatch-roof beds on the beach.

Royal Hideaway Playacar
This 13-acre Playa del Carmen mainstay has been wooing all-inclusive fans for decades. It might be the hotel's eye-catching guest rooms (including a clutch of multi-level villas) that are done up in attractive Spanish colonial details like beamed ceilings and lattice-wood headboards; its restaurants (whose global dishes favor Pan-Asian specialties like hibachi); or its arsenal of activities, from sailing and windsurfing to basketball. Best of all, the resort is just a five-minute walk from the shops and people-watching downtown.

Le Blanc Spa
This glamorous adults-only gem in Cancun is not your average all-inclusive. Think minimalist, all-white interiors that are stylish and sophisticated, a superb food program that includes both French tasting menus (Lumière) and handmade pastas (Blanc Italia), and a serene spa, complete with 19 Le Blanc d’Or treatment rooms. Our favorite part: the thoughtful extras never seem to end, from coconut cocktails on arrival to 24-hour butlers assigned to every room.

Beloved Playa Mujeres
You won’t believe you’re in Cancun at this low-key all-inclusive in secluded Playa Mujeres. Just imagine: reservations at the four onsite restaurants aren't required, and you'll (almost) never need to elbow your way to the swim-up bar. Each of the 109 suites comes with either ocean views or a split-level space and its own whirlpool tub—and all are stocked with BVLGARI amenities and a complimentary mini-bar full of snacks. The area you’ll be hanging out in the most, however, is the 35,000-square-foot spa, whose hydrotherapy circuit is the best on the strip.

UNICO 20˚ 87˚
At this hot new addition to the Riviera Maya, it's all about marrying Mexican culture with the luxury experience. Local art is on display throughout the hotel and available for purchase, and events like mescal tastings and musical performances infuse a strong sense of place. If you're worried about the perks stopping there, don't be. All 448 rooms come with either a swim-up pool or outdoor balcony spa tub, and some off-property excursions and spa treatments are included in the rate.
