What To Know
- There are eight restaurant options for dinner, but only two for lunch

- Chairs around the main pool fill up fast. Get there early to claim a spot
- Free WiFi
- Parking On Site
- Room Service
This beachfront, all-inclusive resort has 540 rooms and suites—with no kids allowed. That means no splashing of little feet in the legendary pool, which winds throughout the lush gardens. No sunburned youngsters hiding out in the palapas on the white sand beach. And no high chairs in the eight different restaurants: from buffet-style Mar y Tierra and Le Marché for breakfast and lunch to Mexican La Hacienda and fine dining option The Corner for dinner. Other restorative pursuits include getting a massage, facial, or ritual treatment in the spa, lighting up a cigar at the Partagas bar, or supping margaritas at one of the property’s well-appointed bars.
In the Area
An oasis unto itself, the Valentin Imperial Maya is a 25 minute-drive from the nightlife of Cancun. Which means it’s also ideally situated for exploring the ancient civilization of the Mayas at the ruins of Tulum (the most well-known, seafront temple), Coba (which boasts the highest Mayan temple in the country), or, a bit farther a field, the vast complex of Chichen Itza. And for snorkeling and swimming with the dolphins, guests head to Xel-Ha, a “natural aquarium” and marine life theme park.
How to Get There
Hummmm were do I start...
First, I want to say that the staff here are amazing. They make you want to come back.
Unfortunately, that is all that we found was great about this resort.
The hotel needs a serious refurb, the rooms are getting dated and used.
We had a silver junior room and missed the junior delux that we had the last time we were here. An upgrade is not necessary in my opinion.
Things that changed since our last visit were; the indian restaurant had a complete change. This was the best restaurant that I enjoyed the most. With that being said, I feel that the food quality since our last visit has declined, as well as the frozen drinks, they tasted differently. My go to drink for this trip was the magaritas, they were amazing 😍.
We loved to eat breakfast and lunch at Le marche , we were greated warmly by Noémie everyday. She always took time to talk to us.
Lastly, my husband and I didn’t really care for the activities at the big pool, it was too noisy for us. We ended up staying at the golden pool were Enrique took good care of us. 😉
For now, we are not planing for a return visit.
We stayed 5 nights from 6/27-7/2 and had a great time. We stayed on the second floor of building 5 which is what we requested and received. We did the bike tour with Renata which was very good seeing the entire property and would suggest doing on the first or second day to learn about the resort.
We enjoy the layout of the property which does require a little walking to get around but it's very peaceful at night.
The GO team was excellent and had plenty of activities to do.
If your not sure if you should visit let me just say this is a well rounded resort with lots of activities and party atmosphere but also has plenty of quite areas to enjoy also.
Make sure to get a drink at Don Miguel's as it's a great lounge with the best drinks on property.
I have been to many resorts, but none compare to Valentin Imperial Maya. The staff was always very helpful and friendly. I was very impressed by the experience and professionalism. Not only was the service at the restaurants amazing, but also the food was delicious. I highly recommend the French restaurant, L'Alsace, my friends and I ended up dining there the first and last day of our stay. The pool was huge! It never felt too crowded and the resort provided pool floats, which was an added plus. I felt spoiled and pampered and I would definitely stay here again.
What an extraordinary experience at the Valentin.
The room itself was very spacious and the bathroom was huge and plenty of room. We never had to wait for dinner even at peak times. All of the staff was so friendly and helpful and made you feel at home.
The pool area was clean and there was always a chair even if you went by the pool late morning/ early afternoon. This is truly a luxury resort and is perfect for a honeymoon, anniversary or just a nice getaway with someone you love.
Great restaurants, we tried L’Alsace, Le Marché, Mar y Tierra and La Hacienda
This was an absolutely fabulous place to stay. Would recommend it highly.
We have just returned to the U.K. from our 2 week belated honeymoon at the heavenly valentin imperial. We visited VIRM 5 years ago and always said we would return for our honeymoon. As with anywhere you return to for a second time there is always the worry as to whether it will still be as good as what it was the first time...it was better which we didn’t think was possible.
The food is heavenly and all the restaurants are like Michelin star restaurants. The French, Indonesian and the hibachi were our favourites! The bars are fabulous too and the don Miguel was our favourite spot to listen to the pianist whilst drinking cocktails before dinner! The drinks are all premium, however they keep the top shelf spirits out of sight so unless you ask specifically for grey goose, they will give you Smirnoff or absolute which is still an okay vodka. I do feel this is slightly sneaky and they should have it on show so that you know what’s on offer.
The entertainment go team are all wonderful! I do not know how they have so much energy every single day especially with all the hours they work but they do! Always smiling, helpful and trying to make sure you are having as much fun as possible. A special mention for Benny, Sari and Dora - they were our favourites! We hope they are still there when we hopefully return within the next couple of years! The entertainment has been taken up a notch and is fantastic! There is always something fun going on and our favourites were the foam parties on a Sunday! Evening entertainment was also great, the band and the Dj in the square was good fun!
The pool barmen and waiters/waitresses also deserve a mention! They are rushed off their feet in the soaring heat and always with a smile! The pool bars really could do with having cocktail menus, as often found ourselves at a loss of what to order trying to remember different cocktails! A laminated sheet would even suffice.
The scenery is just as beautiful as what we remember and the hotel is spotless. They have so many members of staff to keep it all in tip top condition and it shows!
My only slight gripes/changes since the last time we visited was that reserving a sunbed is ridiculous. You have to get up at around 7-7.30am to ensure you can get a bed in the shade - they are like gold dust!! I would suggest that maybe they create more shaded parts round the pool and keep the beds in the pool for all the sun worshipers. It would be good if there are more floats/rafts left in the pool as these are also like gold dust and snapped up very quickly!
The rooms are lovely, spacious and kept very clean by the maids who work very hard and make up your room twice a day! The bed is very comfortable however I found the pillows too soft personally but my husband loved them so everyone is different and it’s just personal preference!
I love that this hotel is such a gem and so glad to have found it. And if I only have a couple of very minor comments / constructive criticism then that must prove how fabulous the place is! We cannot wait to return within the next year or two and are already looking at holidays!
Thanks to all the staff who work tirelessly to make the VIRM as amazing as what it is. We will be back as soon as possible!
