What We Love

  • The beach. It’s small and private and has been recently de-bouldered.
  • Lovely gardens and hidden Jacuzzis around the resort.
  • Villa butlers: Each villa courtyard has its own butler, who will do everything from making scuba arrangements to getting your dinner reservations.
  • The gardens, and the large amount of flowing water, at this property have made it a favorite of Yucatan’s rich birdlife.
  • Freebies like bicycles and kayaks.

What To Know

  • Rates include unlimited meals, snacks, top shelf alcoholic beverages, natural juices and soft drinks
  • Get off the property. Yucatan is full of amazing activities, including trips to Tulum, which can arranged by the hotel or done on your own, cenote diving, or scuba diving.
  • The sun is very strong. Use sunscreen (provided in rooms) and hydrate often.

Great place to relax
Reviewed 2 hours ago

Nice beach, good food and good bars. Not a place for party seeking people, more suitable for relaxing and enjoying good weather. We were happy with the service and would visit again. Coming from Europe I'd have only one suggestion for American visitors - you do not have to be so loud everywhere, sit down, shut up and enjoy the moment.

Wonderful resort! The grounds, pools, and beach front are amazing. The room was very nice and comfortable and the staff were professional and friendly. We loved this resort and will visit it again in the future.

Nice relaxing resort, terrible food
Reviewed 7 hours ago

The resort itself was very nice. The beach was fantastic. The rooms were a good size and clean. The bed was super comfortable, as was the patio furniture. The staff was also fantastic and very accommodating. We do have a few complaints. Requiring a reservation for dinner every single night is ridiculous, especially when you are only offered super early or super late times to eat. The food was also way under par. It was bad enough to the point where we both lost weight and were incredibly irritable. We ended up paying to go outside the resort to eat after we couldn't stomach out meals. My other complaint is more of a disappointment really. I notified the resort when we checked in that we would be getting married during our stay. I also told our concierge. They didn't bother to do anything the day of the event to acknowledge it...even house wine in our room would have been nice..or just a card saying congratulations or something.

17 times at RH- this one was the best

Just home form our 17th trip to RH, and by leaps and bounds, this was the best trip ever. Starting at checkin, where we were so pleasantly surprised to be treated to an EXTRA special room, thank you Edith!!!The resort remains beautiful as ever, and the new blue based lagoon overhaul will look amazing once complete, we cant wait to see when we are back next trip. All food has stepped up a noth thanks to the new Exec Chef- Alejandro- who was kind enough to provide us with some very special meals, and amazing fresh caught blue-fin tuna. Yes Alejandro- when you come to NY I promise we will go stripe bass fiss'n and you will get a chance to taste NY Linesider sashimi. If you have been to RH before, which many have, all is just as great as ever.If you have not been yet, trust the reviews that come form returning customers, and understand that there must be a good reason that so many guests return year after year.Thank you RH staff, your all the best.

Great time at the Hideaway
Reviewed 1 day ago

This is the 6th time my wife and I have been to this area of Mexico for our “Winter Break”. Living in the north of Scotland it’s a great time of year to visit this part of the world. We have always tried different resorts so this was our first time at the Royal Hideaway and we were not disappointed. Rooms were very comfortable although we could have done with a little more hanging space in the wardrobes, apart from that the bed was very comfortable and all the other amenities in the room were great.

I would say without hesitation that of all the resorts we have visited this was consistently the best food we have had and could not complain about one single meal,we did manage to get bookings at all the restaurants for dinner not always at the preferred time but hey ho you’re on holiday so no big deal.

Normally we would lie at the beach(which was lovely) but on this occasion we chose to lie at the pools and they were both excellent particularly the infinity pool with a lovely view out to sea and great for an afternoon dip to cool down.

In common with the other resorts we have visited the staff were a credit to the resort and one of the main reasons we keep returning to this part of the world, they are without doubt the best.

In summation this is a great resort and we will return possibly next year and I would have no hesitation in recommending the Royal Hideaway for a lovely holiday. One small gripe I have is that returning to the UK we normally have a late evening flight so the checkout time of 12 o’clock is a bit early for us and I had to pay quite a lot of money to keep my room until 4pm. I realise that they need to clean the rooms for the intake of people arriving so I do understand the need for the early checkout so perhaps a departure lounge where you can have a shower and cool down before you go off to the airport might be worthy of consideration
