What We Love

  • The beach. It’s small and private and has been recently de-bouldered.
  • Lovely gardens and hidden Jacuzzis around the resort.
  • Villa butlers: Each villa courtyard has its own butler, who will do everything from making scuba arrangements to getting your dinner reservations.
  • The gardens, and the large amount of flowing water, at this property have made it a favorite of Yucatan’s rich birdlife.
  • Freebies like bicycles and kayaks.

What To Know

  • Rates include unlimited meals, snacks, top shelf alcoholic beverages, natural juices and soft drinks
  • Get off the property. Yucatan is full of amazing activities, including trips to Tulum, which can arranged by the hotel or done on your own, cenote diving, or scuba diving.

Lovely hotel and grounds. Attentive and friendly staff. Good food (and drinks) throughout.

This is an excellent hotel with lovely gardens. Lots of quiet areas, if that's what you want, as well as busier areas around the two excellent pools. The service around the pools (and beach) for drinks and food is very good. The quality of food throughout the six restaurants is high with a good choice.

On arrival we were allocated a room in block 21. The room was good but the block itself is not well situated and our balcony looked out onto the wall of the main hotel building. We didn't like it. However, when we immediately mentioned this to reception they said they would try and reallocate us the next day which they did. Our new room, 2519, and view of the gardens, was excellent.

There are two excellent large pools surrounded by sun loungers, each pair with a table and umbrella. As with most resorts favourite positions do get "bagged" just before breakfast, however there are usually enough to go round. We rarely had a problem getting the position we wanted. On the rare occasion we could not find a vacant pair, usually returning from a trip later in the day, we found the alternative tables and chairs very acceptable. There are also many loungers, with swing over shades, on the beach just below the infinity pool.

The hotel is a pleasant 25 minute walk to the local town of Playa del Carmen.

We were very impressed and would return.

Gorgeous and friendly place to stay during vacation!

After check-in, we were unable to receive an escort to our room because they had run out of umbrellas and so we waited in the lobby for over an hour until we finally took our own luggage and walked to our room.

Before leaving for the trip, we confirmed that our travel liaison had requested a late checkout for us and she said they confirmed. When we arrived and inquired about it, they said they couldn’t actually guarantee it. Luckily checkout is at noon. Our travel liaison had also previously requested that we change room assignments weeks before we left but throughout our stay, they didn’t recognize the change. Checkout was a confusing process due to this.

First-floor rooms were flooded (they cannot control Mother Nature and I understand they were not fully prepared for the torrential all-day rainstorm). They were very quick to try and address all room/guest issues related to the storm. They were able to switch our room within the hour so that was very prompt service considering. Even throughout the rest of our stay, the managers came around and asked if we had been there during the storm and if so, wanted to confirm that everything taken care of. They did a great job with customer service!

Upon arrival, minibars in the rooms consisted of sodas, water, and two cans of beer. They should be clearer about that in their description and information because some people might expect mini liquor bottles or more variety. We had asked them to restock (around 8 am) and come 21:45...still not restocked. They came in and turned down the bed, but forgot to restock.

WiFi was unstable and inconsistent once we left the room and headed toward the pool.

The servers and bartenders for the most part were attentive and very pleasant. The service just got better and better each day. Our first night since there was the issue of the storm and trying to change rooms, we ended up eating at Spices, above The Deck on the beach. The food was very good but I think our waiter had too many tables and the service was lacking. He was very personable and energetic but he took forever getting our orders and also our meals. We had to beckon him over a couple of times to tell him we were ready. I must say that the food in all the restaurants was excellent. You could taste how fresh the food and juices were. I'm pretty sure I ate too much!

All dinner dining venues must have reservations - no walk ins. When we went to our concierge, Carla, to reserve our dinners for the rest of our stay, she was only able to book us for 9 pm dinners including at a restaurant we had already been to the first night. I specified that I preferred earlier like 6-6:30. We were not warned or advised to reserve due to limited space upon arrival. They were not very organized and our concierge was nowhere to be seen more than 50% of the time, and her desk was at our building!

They weren’t very good about telling guests the goings-on of events. And there weren’t actually any activities taking place at the activities pool as was written on an event schedule we received 24 hours after we checked in. There had been an 80s event that we would have loved to have attended had we known.

There is only one dining venue (granted, an upstairs and a downstairs of the same building) open for breakfast (general buffet but with an amazing variety). The same downstairs/upstairs combo are the only two places open for lunch and one of them is mainly Mexican (which I love but we had already eaten there).

The resort is also on the quieter side. Not much energy and pep or music to get the guests going during peak pool time. This is more for people who prefer a VERY quiet and calm stay to lounge and/or read by the pool or dine in peace.

Overall a clean, friendly and gorgeous place to spend a quiet vacation.

Fabulous beach, terrific service, great food. What more can you ask for? I love that the property is intimate enough that you can walk everywhere and not need to wait for transportation. With a concierge for every building, every need is met. The food and service are amazing.

Beautiful and peaceful.

Very beautiful with many outstanding restaurants. Peaceful and yet close enough to night life if you want to leave the grounds. But why leave such a lovely place. We are seniors and really enjjoyed the tranquility and beautty of this place. There are steps, so if you need ground floor room just ask.

Absolutely the best resort with the best food that we have stayed at in the Cancun area since 1999. Would recommend this resort to anyone! Employees are friendly, the food is fabulous, rooms are very nice and cleaned twice a day.
