Overview

Action-packed adults-only all-inclusive resort on a peninsula jutting into Mexico’s Caribbean sea

The Lowdown

Take nine all-inclusive restaurants (Agave for Mexican, Basmati for Indian, and The Lobster House for seafood, to name a third of the options.) Add 11 bars (including swim-up, pool, and disco). Throw in seven pools (four heated, five with whirlpools) and a full service Miilé spa. Multiply by 450 rooms and suites (some with rooftop terraces, balconies, and jacuzzis). The end result is an entire peninsula turned adult playground with the beautifully-designed resort at its heart.

In the Area

On the same peninsula as the resort—within walking distance—is the Playa Mujeres Golf Club, one of the top courses in Mexico. Nature-lovers will want to venture fifteen miles north of the property to Isla Contoy, a protected island that is a nature preserve, bird sanctuary, and nesting ground for endangered sea turtles. Guests can explore the Great Mayan Reef (also known as the Mesoamerican barrier reef) or hop the ferry to the floating fishing village of Isla Mujeres. But the most impressive excursion of all may be two hours south to the massive complex of Maya ruins at Chichén Itzá.

Excellence isn't just a name

My Wife and i visited this resort in July 2019,
transfer from airport takes about 35 mins, very reassuring security when you are entering the resort,
when you get out of you're taxi the dream begins, from this moment to the you will be treated like a film star, Checkin fast and smooth, has you are escorted to your apartment it will become obvious that this resort is both impressive and well managed,
senior management Nelson leads by example,
Carolina make nice things happen, the gardens are perfect and its spotless clean, thumbs up to the gardeners and cleaners, the apartments are all very similar, very spacious and comfortable with a large balcony or patio, and a nice choice of premium drinks in the mini bar,
pool areas are numerous, really quiet areas, a lazy river, and the main pool where the entertainment is located, never a problem getting a sun lounger, all areas have pool bars with first class service from the waiters/waitresses, 2 of our favourites Lucia and Franco, but all the staff work really hard and are very pleasant, nothing is to much trouble, and i mean nothing,
the beach is beautiful, again plenty of loungers, great snorkelling to the right towards the marina,
food time, we like the buffet breakfast, so much choice,
lunch, las Olas on the beach as a different theme each day, grill or lobster house, or the buffet at Toscana, all are brilliant, Aroma is the coffee shop, but its a lot more than that,
evening meal, 9 top end restaurants to chose from, all a different theme, Mexican, French, Indian, Asia, Italian, Spanish, Chez Isabelle (French) is our favourite, if you allow the waiting staff to make suggestions you won't be disappointed, special mention to restaurant staff Mauri, Gamaliel, Osca, Orlando,
evening and night entertainment is very good and varied,
bottom line is,
happiness and enjoyment is the priority of all the staff, and it seems to be natural to them, all staff will smile and greet you, we have traveled all over the world and the staff can make or break a holiday, here they make it,
tip,
outside the resort gate turn right, lovely path that takes you past the golf coarse and lagoons for about 2km,
turn left outside the gate and 5mins walk is a reasonable priced supermarket, will we return???
its already booked,

Top Notch Service!

Five Star service in every way. Moises was serving the beach in unstoppable fashion. He was relentlessly professional and equally friendly! Angel at Aroma cafe was brilliant all of the time! The resort maintains an impeccable standard for aesthetic and customer service.

We just returned from our fourth trip to excellence playa mujeres! It was fantastic once again!

We have stayed in different types of rooms on each visit. This time we chose an excellence club swim up room. It didn’t disappoint. You can’t go wrong with any room on the resort.

The food here is good, the drinks are plentiful and the staff go above and beyond. I tell my wife “I feel like it’s Disney world for adults”!

The staff:

Make sure to go see Diego and Eder at prelude. However, don’t miss Cesar at the martini bar!
