The Surfjack Hotel & Swim Club
Set in a renovated 1961 modernist building, the Surfjack retains that era’s flavor while championing Waikiki’s current trends in design, art, and food. An oval pool at the center of the U-shaped hotel steals the spotlight thanks to local artist Matthew Tapia’s underwater mosaic reading “Wish You Were Here.” While there are only a handful of lounge chairs for sunbathing, the pool area—dubbed The Swim Club—is surrounded by comfortable cabanas decorated with midcentury armchairs and black-and-white murals emulating waves, along with a coffee bar and a boutique dedicated to beach culture.
