8 Hotels Where You’re Bound to Run Into Your Celebrity Crush

As much as we like to pretend we'd play it cool in the presence of Leonardo DiCaprio, we can't say for certain what would happen if we were to rub shoulders with him at a hotel bar. To find out whether you'd actually play it off, cower in a corner, or embarrass yourself immediately, book a stay at one of these 8 hotels where you're pretty likely to bump into at least one of your celeb obsessions.

The Standard, High Line, NYC

As one of the hottest hotels in NYC, The Standard, High Line’s nightlife is unmatched. There’s a buzzy ground-floor beer garden perfect for catching a drink between shows; a hard-to-get-into nightclub where there’s a plunge pool, disco ball, and 360-degree views of the city; The Standard Grill, where you’ll see everyone from Martha Stewart to Madonna slurping oysters, sipping big bold reds and tucking into juicy porterhouses; and the Top of the Standard (or Boom Boom Room, as it’s better known)—a glittering bar where you’ll be in the company of models, designers, editors, and musical artists like Kanye and Lady Gaga. The hotel’s modernist glass façade (which puts the pretty people both inside and out on display) has also helped to establish the hotel’s reputation as a place to, er, stay up into the wee hours of the morning.

The Little Nell, Aspen, CO

Deep-pocketed snow bunnies know this slope-side stunner is the crème de la crème of Colorado chic. The 92-room hideaway is all leather and velvet furnishings, gas fireplaces, and contemporary art wrapped in a cool palette of creams, chocolates and blues. But the real draw is the buzzy atmosphere: there are two restaurants and three bars, including the mountainside patio that is Ajax Tavern, the après-ski scene at Chair 9, and Element 47, an upscale eatery with a 20,000-bottle wine cellar. Make new friends (or schmooze with old ones) and kick back with a glass of wine in the convivial Living Room, where you might just catch sight of Jay-Z and Bey, Mariah Carey, or Kate Hudson.

Chateau Marmont, Los Angeles, CA

It doesn’t get more legendary—or Old Hollywood—than “the Chateau,” a hotel that’s had a place in LA lore ever since it opened on the Strip in 1929. The dramatic exterior was modeled after a castle in France’s Loire Valley, and its interiors are just as memorable—frescoed and vaulted ceilings, carved wooden furniture, a warren of poolside bungalows and garden cottages, not to mention the many secret entrances used by Tinseltown’s most exclusive clientele. Stories abound about the exploits of past guests—Greta Garbo, Jim Morrison, and Led Zeppelin—while LA’s cool “new” kids—Emma Stone, Justin Timberlake—are also known to kick around.

One&Only Palmilla, Los Cabos, Mexico

Camelback beach safaris and private charters aboard the resort's yacht don’t even scratch the surface of what’s on offer at the One&Only Palmilla —(arguably) Baja’s most luxurious resort. Originally built in 1956 by Don Abelardo Rodriguez, son of Mexican president Abelardo L. Rodríguez, the fifteen-room luxury villa has been transformed into a resort oasis without sacrificing the red-tiled roofs and white-washed walls of old style Mexico. Add a Jean-Georges steakhouse, 22,000-square-foot wellness spa, one of the only swimmable beaches in all of Los Cabos and service that goes above and beyond, and it’s not hard to see why the resort is so beloved. Over the years it has managed to attract the likes of Hollywood legends like John Wayne and Lucille Ball, former United States presidents like Dwight D. Eisenhower, and more recently, Jennifer Aniston and Eva Longoria.

Montage Beverly Hills, CA

This luxe sleep in the heart of Beverly Hills’ Golden Triangle exudes vintage Hollywood style while still being awash in modern luxury. A tony address gives way to surprisingly spacious suites (done up in sophisticated creams and golds) and clear views of Beverly and Canon Drives. With Scarpetta—one of the best Italian restaurants in the nation, and a 20,000-square-foot spa— one of Cali’s best (think deep tissue massage to post-plastic surgery facials), the hotel is a locals’ haunt—neighborhood celebs included. Hit the sceney, sun-splashed rooftop pool and you may run into ex-One Direction frontman Harry Styles or British-American starlet Lily Collins.

Belmond Hotel Cipriani, Venice, Italy

With its inimitable location in San Marco—on the tip of Giudecca Island facing the lagoon and Doge’s Palace—Hotel Cipriani has Venetian style down. Seeing as it’s straight out of a Fellini movie, the elegant stay has no trouble attracting the likes of big-name couples like George and Amal Clooney. When you’re not stalking the grounds in search of the mega-millionaires, hop on one of the hotel's water bicycles and take a ride through the city of canals, gliding past crooning gondoliers, under the Bridge of Sighs, and through the arch of the Rialto Bridge.

The Bowery Hotel, NYC

The promise of a blazing fire, plush velvet couches, end-to-end Persian rugs, and classic spirits draw a hearty crowd—including celebrities and fashionistas— to this chic LES hotel’s Lobby Bar and Lounge. Though the hotel is very hush-hush when it comes to their VIP guests, the legendary haute hangout is one with enough after-hour tales to fill a novel. Jennifer Lopez, Gigi Hadid, Paul McCartney, Kristen Stewart, Blake Lively, and Ashley Olsen are all known to raise a glass here. If you plan on stopping by, know that seats around the sandstone fireplace fill up fast, but you can always grab a spot at the bar or on a church pew.

The Lanesborough, London, England

With its grandiose mix of chintz, crystal, and Easter-egg hues, Hyde Park’s Regency-style Lanesborough is the portrait of an English grande dame. Beyond style, the spot has a lot to offer high-profile guests—say, like Leonardo DiCaprio, Madonna, and Kanye West; namely, London’s largest hotel penthouse—a show-stopping 10,225-square-foot suite that goes for £25,000 a night and comes with a private entrance monitored by security cameras. While you might not see celebs roaming the halls, you could still catch them at dinner. At Michelin-starred Céleste— an elegant dining room outfitted with marble busts, Federal-style mirrors, and antique lanterns— upscale Franco-British dishes (duck breast confit with figs and chestnuts; lobster with lemon-curry velouté) are presented just as beautifully as the interiors.
