As much as we love summer, this hotter-than-hell heat has us eagerly awaiting fall. To fuel our insatiable wanderlust, we’ve scoured the internet in search of the most affordable autumn flights to book now. From Kenya to Cartagena, these are ten trips you definitely don’t want to miss.

This is one of the best flight deals we’ve ever seen. For as low as $397 round-trip, you can jet off to the land of shrines and sushi. Routes depart Los Angeles ($435) in October and November, and Seattle ($397) and New York City ($473) throughout November. The only downside is the airlines offering this deal (Xiamen Air, China Eastern, and Air China) include layovers—some of which can be quite long—in Shanghai or Beijing.
Trade city life for sun, surf, and sand in Costa Rica. Spirit, American Airlines, and JetBlue are all offering sales to San José, starting at a bargain-bin price of $167 round-trip. There are tons of options: you can fly from Fort Lauderdale, New Orleans, Washington, D.C., or New York City in September and October as well as Orlando and Chicago September through November. Although Fort Lauderdale is the only direct flight, layovers tend to be short coming from the other cities. Spirit is the most affordable carrier due to its base fares, but after you add the cost of bags and reserved seats, it’ll bring you to the low-$200s, which is about equal to the seats offered by American Airlines and JetBlue.
Australia may be at top of the bucket list, but getting Down Under tends to cost a pretty penny. The usual round-trip airfare is well over $1,000, so consider yourself lucky if you can snag anything less than that. Between September and November, China Eastern is offering seats to Sydney from New York's JFK airport starting at $705, and Air New Zealand is currently promoting routes from LAX starting at $644.
This coastal city is chock full of cool Catalan culture, stunning architectural wonders (thanks Gaudí), and, of course, delicious seafood-packed paella. Spanish carrier LEVEL, which just launched in June 2017, is dropping the price of its direct flights from Boston to Barcelona to only $257 round-trip. The cheapest time to go is the last week of October (Happy Halloween!) and in late November.
There’s so much to be grateful for during Thanksgiving—and we’re feeling especially #blessed due to these $643 round-trip flights to Nairobi. Trade the turkey for the Big Five while on an African safari over the holiday. Throughout November, you can fly from Chicago, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, New York, and Houston via Swiss, Lufthansa, and Turkish Airlines. KLM and Air France also have availability, but it’s a bit more expensive.
There’s no better time to go to the Bahamas. Just a few months ago, the island’s first winery opened and the ultra-luxe Rosewood Baha Mar resort debuted in Nassau. If that doesn’t impress you, the crystal-clear Caribbean and the pristine beaches surely will. Round-trip flights are currently going for $214 from Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Atlanta, Boston, and New York City. JetBlue, American Airlines, Copa, and Bahamasair have the most empty seats in September, although there are a few openings in October.
If you want to get an eyeful of some... err... foliage, head to Cartagena, a sexy seaside city in Colombia. Fall flights average in the $300 range, departing from Atlanta, Baltimore, Denver, Hartford, Orlando, and Raleigh. However, those in Pittsburgh have an extra great deal with airfare starting at $275. Check Delta, JetBlue, and Copa for September and October departures before they sell out.
Dreaming of your very own Roman holiday? Get la dolce vita on a dime with these $352 round-trip flights from New York City via Air Italy or direct routes from Fort Lauderdale and Los Angeles via Norwegian. Very rarely do flights to Rome go on sale (Milan is usually the more wallet-friendly Italian escape), so check your calendars (mid-October through November is the most affordable) and don’t hesitate to book.
This lush nine-island archipelago off the coast of Portugal is often called the "Hawaii of Europe" thanks to its lush tropical forests, towering volcanoes, and exotic sea life. Now, getting to paradise is even easier: Azores Airlines is offering $469 round-trip, non-stop flights from Boston from late September to early November. Don’t forget to pack your swimsuit.
China Eastern and Air China are experiencing major price drops on their regular routes to Bangkok. Starting at just $443, you can fly from Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York City (although there are layovers). This is also one of the most flexible deals, with dates that range throughout September, October, and November—making it easy to schedule around your remaining vacation days.
