Amsterdam
Fashionable hotel brand Hoxton does it again, this time in Amsterdam. A string of five canal-side townhouses now hold 111 rooms (up to 30% off now) whose interiors read like spreads in Amsterdam’s hottest design magazine—think ornamental ceilings, clashing wallpapers, vintage finds from Noordermarkt, and swoon-worthy views of the Herengracht canal. Warmer days were made for dining at trendy Italian restaurant Lotti’s, which has its own retractable glass roof, while cooler nights are best spent at the lobby's cocktail bar, ogling the city's style set.
Italy
What now makes up the luxe Sextantio Le Grotte della Civita are remnants of one of the oldest Neolithic settlements in Italy, a remote cliffside collection of limestone caves that sit on the fringe of Matera village, in Sassi. Today, guests can dwell in abandoned caves (now up to 25% off) bathed in a candlelit glow and outfitted with rustic fireplaces, freestanding bathtubs, and stone balconies. Up the romance factor with an in-room couples massage, candlelit dinner, private cooking lesson, or wine tasting in the property’s 13-century rock church.
Costa Rica
There’s no mistaking you’re in the jungle at Andaz Costa Rica Resort at Peninsula Papagayo, where guests are serenaded by howler monkeys at dusk every night. Local architect Ronald Zurcher took “pura vida”—a ubiquitous Costa Rican saying and life motto—to heart when he designed this modern, eco-chic property, which takes cues from the surrounding environment. A blend of contemporary and organic elements (think tons of wood and woven textiles) make up the luxe but laid-back feel of its 153 rooms (currently up to 39% off), three restaurants, and two infinity pools, which are all set on 28 pristine oceanfront acres.
Anguilla
There are just 44 guest rooms and suites on 25 ocean-hugging acres at Malliouhana, a ritzy beachfront playground since the 1980s that recently staged a $80-million comeback. (Book now to score an ocean-view room for up to 30% off.) The sea is always on show, from the private outdoor patios and terraces, while the signature restaurant is a sea-to-table standout dishing up Mediterranean-inspired fare using the Caribbean’s bounty of fresh seafood. Snorkeling, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, and sailing are all included in the rate; for a different sort of entertainment, there’s the Auberge Spa and its popular 90-minute Auberge Head to Toe massage.
Thailand
The 136-key Banyan Tree Phuket was modeled after a traditional Thai village, with low-rise bungalows built up around a landscaped garden, a saltwater lagoon, and the sands of Bang Tao Bay. You won’t go wrong any of the room categories, but the pool villas (up to 30% off right now) win our vote—think his-and-hers dressing rooms, open-air bathtubs, and natural design details like teak window frames, stone sculptures, wooden chandeliers, and wicker loungers arranged around a combination infinity pool and hot tub. More perks we love: 24-hour butler service and in-roof chefs, so you never have to be anywhere but poolside.
