All the Fabulous Places JS Editors are Vacationing in 2019
Where are we headed to in 2019? From Portland, Oregon, to Stockholm, Sweden, and beyond, here are all the fabulous places we plan on exploring next year. Get inspired.

Portland, Oregon
"I’m dying to spend more time on the West Coast, and Portland is one city that’s been on my list for years. There are tons of new restaurants I’m eager to try, especially because of how strong the locavore and sustainable food movements are there. And then, of course, there's Voodoo Doughnuts—enough said. As for where I'm staying, I plan to check out the newly-opened Hoxton, Portland. Ever since I spent the night at the Williamsburg location, I’ve been fully aboard the Hoxton bandwagon, and the Portland one looks phenomenal."
Jackie Homan, Editorial Assistant

Japan
"In March my husband and I are taking off to Japan for 2 weeks. While we’re still finalizing the details, we definitely plan to hit up Tokyo, Kyoto, Naoshima, and a few small villages along the way. I can’t wait to visit the art museums in Naoshima, eat fresh sushi and ramen, check out some traditional Japanese ceramics, and relax in an onsen."
Gretchen Dorosz, Senior Photo Editor

Jackson Hole, Wyoming
"I haven’t spent much time in the American west and Jackson Hole is supposed to be beautiful in the wintertime. My family is renting a cabin for a week and I plan to go on a wildlife tour through Grand Teton, try snowmobiling for the first time, and, naturally, go skiing."

Rome, Italy
"It’s a long shot, but my husband and I are trying to plan an epic trip to Italy next year. We both have family ties to the country, but he has never been (and my last visit was 12 years ago…the horror!) Our itinerary is pretty rough at the moment—how can you skip Venice or Florence?!—but Rome is nonnegotiable. Mark is a huge history buff and needs to check the Colosseum and Vatican City off his list. As for me, I’m going back to eat my weight in pasta, drink all the wine, bop around the city on a vespa, and check out G-Rough—another one of my dream hotels."

Barcelona, Spain
"I’ve had Barcelona on my bucket list for years now, and this summer I’m finally going to make the trip. I can't wait to feast on tapas and sangria, see all the Gaudi architecture, and check out some amazing surrealist art at Fundacio Joan Miro. I’ll be checking into the Soho House Barcelona in the city’s gorgeous Gothic Quarter, which is in walking distance to many of the city’s best restaurants and must-see landmarks."

Washington DC
"DC may not sound like the most exciting destination but the food scene down there is exploding. I'm planning on taking a long weekend to check out all the great new restaurants including Little Beast, Pappe, St. Anselm, and American Son at the just-opened Eaton hotel. What can I say? I love food."
Clara Sedlak, Executive Editor

Mexico City, Mexico
"I’m heading to Mexico City in January for a long weekend because flights from Boston are inexpensive and the food scene in Mexico City is great. Plus, the entire trip was free because I used credit card points. I’ve already booked a food and bike tour which will give me a lay of the land and the insider scoop on the best foods and restaurants to try while I’m there. I’m staying at Zocalo Central Mexico City which is in the heart of the historic district and has dramatic views of the surrounding architecture from its rooftop restaurant."
Kerry Sainato, Product Manager

Nashville, TN
"Every year, I do a girls trip with 3 close pals from college, and Nashville was the unanimous next choice. Who wouldn’t be super excited for great food, live music, and a dose of good ole Southern Hospitality? And the Grand Ole Opry and Johnny Cash Museum?! Oh yes. Yes!"
Saman Westberg, Style Correspondent

Stockholm, Sweden
"My cousin was just transferred to Stockholm for work and visiting somewhere when you know a “local” is always the best. I’m planning for a summer trip so I can soak up the long, sunny days around the city and surrounding lake towns."
Molly Steinkrauss, Marketing Manager

Key West, Florida
"After visiting Key West for the first time last spring, I made a promise to myself that in 2019 I’d have to make my way back. Telling you that I had the time of my life would be a complete understatement. With gorgeous sandy beaches, a culture like no other, and literally hundreds of bars just on one street, it is absolutely impossible to be bored in the Keys. I'll check into the beautiful Hyatt Centric Key West Resort & Spa, which sits only a few blocks away from the action-packed Duval Street, and hit up Blue Heaven at least twice to enjoy a boozy breakfast!"
