Jet-Set Style with Sabra Krock
The largest speciality retailer of swim and resort-wear in the United States, Everything but Water is an essential shopping destination for any Jetsetter. The woman behind the store’s expertly curated selection of designer finds? Co-owner and creative director Sabra Krock, who traverses the globe in search of the hottest new swimsuit styles and need-to-know designers. We caught up with Sabra to talk trends, travel, and tips for staying sane while bathing suit shopping (hint: set aside some 'me' time).

Where do you find inspiration?
“Magazines, photographs, social media, and travel. Whenever I’m on the road, I’m on the lookout for cool new trends and up-and-coming designers.”
Where have you traveled to lately that inspired you?
“Tulum was incredible—so many beautiful textiles, perfumes, and jewelry. I loved how beachy and colorful everything was. Charleston is another place that continually inspires me. The city has a really vibrant community of women designers, and I always leave feeling really energized by their imagination and spirit. I was also recently in Miami for Swim Week, and came home with a ton of ideas.”

What are some of the trends you you saw on the runway?
“A lot of minimalist looks, which is in sharp contrast to the “sea gypsy” trend we saw this summer. There were also a lot of tropical botanical prints, asymmetrical suits, front-plunging suits, and suits with ruffles.”
Some of those styles sound pretty out-there. What are some of your best tips for finding a classic, body-flattering suit?
“Set aside enough time so you don’t feel rushed. Also, be willing to try different styles. Your perception isn’t always accurate, so be open to looks that the associate recommends.”

Any designers you really love right now?
“Marysia is a great swimwear line, with a very tailored, body-flattering aesthetic. Another favorite is Poupette St Barth, which is so feminine and fun—lots of flounce and florals. And for kaftans, you can’t go wrong with Two, a very niche brand out of Brooklyn. All the kaftans are created from hand-woven textiles and saris from India. Another fave is Sea Star, which makes a stylish, water-friendly espadrille.”

What else would we find in your beach bag?
“A great wide-brim sun hat, Brush on Block, this mineral powder sunscreen that feels super lightweight and replenishing on the skin, a fun beach towel (I love patterns and stripes), my Le Specs sunglasses, and a sundress that will transition from the beach to the street. Oh, and our exclusive swimwear cleaner. It’s so important to wash your suit immediately after wearing to keep it looking vibrant and form-fitting."
