9 Destinations Trending Now on Jetsetter
We spend a lot of time unearthing off-the-beaten path locales and hot new hotel openings for our readers, but we get that established favorites are favorites for a reason. Here, a sneak peek at the top 9 destinations trending now on Jetsetter, including the highest-booked stays in each.
A Brooklyn-based writer and editor, Chelsea's work has appeared in Matador Network, The Huffington Post, the TripAdvisor blog, and more. When not planning her next trip, you'll usually find her drinking way too much iced coffee (always iced—she’s from New England) or bingeing a Netflix original series.
NYC
Are we surprised that NYC came out on top in our destinations trending now? Not even a bit. The city is a perennial hot spot for good reason. Everyone and their mother scrambles to the city for Michelin-starred restaurants and game-changing Broadway shows (hello, Hamilton), unparalleled art and history museums and five-star stays. So where’s everyone bedding down? Our hottest sleeps right now include the swanky, Philippe Starck-designed (but ultra budget-friendly) Hudson New York; Brooklyn’s William Vale – a cutting-edge newbie with waterfront views; and the Art Deco Westhouse Hotel New York which wins with A-list amenities and a just-off Central Park address.
Miami
Miami appeals simultaneously to crowds of uninhibited spring breakers, retired northerners fleeing imminent cold, families pushing along double strollers, and singles looking for new it scenes. How does one destination fare so well with such a vast multitude? Just look to the seaport city’s white sand beaches, temperate weather, hip nightlife, vibrant art scene, and highly photographable collection of Art Deco architecture. Two of the trendiest properties there now include the see-and-be-seen Confidante with Golden Era-meets-mid-century-Modern decor from A-list designer Martin Brudnizki; and the Eden Roc Miami Beach – with a plush, 22,000-foot spa and spacious rooftop – just 10 minutes from SoBe.

Boston
Small town charm meets big city hustle in this New England capital. While it may not be the size of NYC or LA, Boston holds down its spot with loads of historic landmarks spread throughout; killer Italian eateries in the North End; topnotch shopping along Newbury Street; quaint cobblestoned streets and brick rowhouses in Beacon Hill; and tangible hometown pride – just ask about their sports teams. If you’re looking to hit Beantown basics like the Common and Public Garden, the Taj Boston, with its classic French décor and unrivaled views, is for you. Just up the block, the elegant Fairmont Copley Plaza unfolds across from Copley Square and Trinity Church. The revered Back Bay property is within walking distance of nearly everything, and Catie and Carly Copley – the hotel’s canine ambassadors – are always on-hand to welcome you home.
San Francisco
The last couple of years have seen a huge surge in visitors to SF – the city revealed that more than 24 million visitors are now filtering in annually. The NorCal spot’s magnetic pull stems from a mix of iconic sites – the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, the Painted Ladies – and newbies pushing innovative boundaries in the city’s food, drink, and shopping circles. Jetsetters are currently most infatuated with the The Marker San Francisco, an Art Nouveau number with funky guestrooms and free wine receptions, not far from Union Square. Also making the list is Argonaut, a Noble House Hotel – a nautical boutique on Fisherman’s Wharf (think: astronomer’s clocks, wooden plank floors, steamer trunks, and white plantation shutters).

Las Vegas
Over-the-top is how Sin City does everything best. Show-stopping hotels (with replica global landmarks in miniature), splashy casinos, celebrity DJ-fueled nightclubs, an LED-lit entertainment haven known as the Strip...we could go on. Hotels pack a competitive punch when it comes to location, amenities, and in-your-face decor, but the Paris Las Vegas is a top contender, delivering a central Strip address and modern European design at an ultra-affordable price point. Meanwhile, the ARIA Resort & Casino stuns with three pools, eight bars and its very own Cirque du Soleil show.
Chicago
Postmodern skyscrapers, a killer culinary landscape, and cutting-edge art galleries and modern museums earned Chicago a spot in our collective consciousness long, long ago. Those heading to the Windy City today are hunkering down at two places in particular: the Warwick Allerton - Chicago and the PUBLIC Chicago. The former – a faithful figure on Chicago’s skyline – unfurls on Magnificent Mile, treating guests to Jazz Era architecture and sophisticated yet subdued guestrooms. The latter, a Neo-Georgian Gold Coast icon features a minimalist design scheme and the infamous Pump Room – a celeb-frequented New American eatery with a menu courtesy of Jean-Georges Vongerichten.
London
London was 2016’s most visited European destination and the world’s second most-visited city (landing just behind Bangkok). With some of the best free museums and art galleries, spellbinding Gothic, Baroque and Elizabethan buildings, lush sculpted gardens, and highly metamorphose food scene, we think we know why. Lately, those crossing the pond have been quite enamored with The Ampersand Hotel, a posh Edwardian townhouse that plants its roots in South Kensington, near Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. Given its classically handsome exterior, guestrooms surprise with purposefully mismatched patterns, velvet tufted headboards, and various knickknacks. Over in Shoreditch, the Ace Hotel London aims to please traveling hipsters with vintage furniture, in-room record players (and an array of LPs), and close proximity to some of London’s top thrift stores, craft beer purveyors, and pop-up shops.

New Orleans
A bastion of culture and history, overindulgent comfort foods and raucous holidays, most people have a pretty clear image of what NOLA stands for, even if they’ve never been. Whether you’re interested in eating your first beignet or hitting the French Quarter for the umpteenth time, the Art Deco-inspired Ace Hotel New Orleans currently comes out on top. Honoring the city’s roots with retro-inspired furniture, a two-story music venue, and an onsite restaurant helmed by James Beard-nominated chefs, the Ace hits every requirement plus some you didn’t know you had. Also doesn't hurt that the Arts District haunt is just steps from the St. Charles streetcar, giving you unlimited access to The Big Easy.
Paris
The popularity of Paris is kind of a no-brainer, right? The city’s landmarks span every architectural and artistic movement from the Middle Ages to now; patisseries, boulangeries, and charcuteries practically beg you to step in for a fresh bite; locals are exceedingly stylish as they roam the romantic streets – honestly, it’s almost too much to handle. The Haussmann-style Hotel Le Six positions you in the Latin Quarter and 6th arrondissement, settling its classic Parisian accommodations just between the Luxembourg Gardens and Montparnasse. In the 7th, just two blocks from the Seine and steps from Musée d’Orsay, the Christian Lacroix-designed Hotel Le Bellechasse presents a trendy alternative to the city’s traditional decor. The hotel’s flamboyant guestrooms may date back to 1840, but bold wallpapers, enormous murals, and funky frescoed ceilings might have you thinking otherwise.
