It may be located on the grounds of the former British consulate, but there's nothing old-fashioned about the Anantara Chiang Mai Resort & Spa, a striking property on the banks of the Mae Ping River. It's a mix of unabashedly modern, angular spaces full of clean lines and done in shades of cream and white, with wooden accents. The guestrooms are housed in the main four-story building; at the property’s center is the original British consulate building from the 1920s, which is now the location of the main restaurant and rooftop bar.
