Traveling with Style-setter Anna Decilveo

The woman behind the site's expertly-curated selection of designer finds? Product Merchandiser Anna Decilveo, who traverses the globe in search of up-and-coming designers and new must-have trends. We reached out to Anna to learn more about her dream job, her best tips for shopping on the road, and the products she *always* packs in her carry-on.
What does your day-to-day look like?
“A great deal of what I do involves curating our site with emerging brands products and creating collections for shoppers to browse based on style, trend, and city. I also pick products for Tictail Market, our brick-and-mortar in New York City, with items sourced from around the globe.”
How do you go about discovering new brands for your site?
“This is obviously where travel comes in. Tictail brands come from all four corners of the world, so it’s really important that I’m on the ground, interacting with people, learning about new lines, and experiencing trends firsthand. For example, on a recent trip to Spain, I met the designers behind Barcelona-based Hinui, and the Madrid-born HABEY. I’ve been to more than 15 countries, and take a little inspiration home with me from each place.”
Which destinations do you visit most frequently?
“Tictail was born in Stockholm, so it only makes sense that I travel there often to stay in tune with that clean Nordic sensibility. I also make a point of getting out of New York City at least once a month, whether it’s a quick trip upstate to Ghent, NY, or to a remote town in Mexico. Balancing the chaos of New York City with a quiet getaway is what keeps me sane.”
What has been the most memorable adventure yet?
“As much as I love flying to faraway countries, some of my favorite trips have taken place on the road. I lived in Los Angeles for over three years, and loved visiting Big Sur. The drive is so serene and beautiful—one minute you’re driving alongside the beach, the next you’re deep in the Redwood forest—and you stumble upon so many cute vintage shops and food stands.”

Where do you plan to go to next?
“I’m hoping to cross Japan, Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia off my list this year!”
Any essential carry-on items you plan to take with you?
“Oh, I can’t live without my beauty essentials: Ouai Wavy Spray, Living Proof Dry Shampoo, and face products from Clarins. I’m also never without my cashmere Santosh scarf (even in the summer), my Degauss Labs earphones, and my Sandlund/Hossain leather carry-all, which is literally the most beautiful, perfectly-sized carry-on in the world.”
