Step Up Your Photo Game with the Selfie Drone

The latest in selfie technology is here and it’s poised to replace your embarrassingly crude selfie-stick. So get ready Insta aficionados (and rare unicorns who allegedly “never fed into the hype”)–the Lily “selfie drone” is sure to be a travel game changer.

A Brooklyn-based writer and editor, Chelsea's work has appeared in Matador Network, The Huffington Post, the TripAdvisor blog, and more. When not planning her next trip, you'll usually find her drinking way too much iced coffee (always iced—she’s from New England) or bingeing a Netflix original series.

Do you have to consciously subdue intense jealousy when scrolling gorgeous shots on your ‘gramming feed? If you answered yes – or are struggling with a basic point-and-shoot – Lily could be the answer to your prayers. Scheduled for release this summer, the drone is an automatic flying device that will follow you while recording HD video (1080p) at 60 frames per second and taking 12-megapixel photos.

Simply chuck the device into the air and it will trail you at a distance of 5,100 feet (about 5-50 feet up in the air). The best part: Lily doesn’t even require a remote (it’s really a drone of the people), just a small tracking device that you can keep in your hand or pocket so it knows where you are.

Lily has a battery life of about 20 flight minutes, weighs only 2.8 pounds, and is completely waterproof (aka just begging for an epic lake or ocean landing). Think of all the incredible hiking/kayaking/skiing/skateboarding seshs you could record!
