Steal the Style: NYC’s The Whitby Hotel
If you're ever hurting for home inspo, all you need do is look to your favorite hotel. With iconic designer-backed style and centerfold-worthy layouts, they know what's up. This week, we set our sights on the beguiling Whitby Hotel in midtown Manhattan.
A Brooklyn-based writer and editor, Chelsea's work has appeared in Matador Network, The Huffington Post, the TripAdvisor blog, and more. When not planning her next trip, you'll usually find her drinking way too much iced coffee (always iced—she’s from New England) or bingeing a Netflix original series.
Our Inspiration: The Whitby Hotel
Minimalists, avert your eyes! This week, we’re attempting to dupe the style of Kit Kemp’s whimsical Whitby Hotel—’cause imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, after all. The iconic English designer pulled out all the playful stops for Firmdale Hotel’s second NYC locale (the first being the well-loved Crosby Street Hotel). A study in next-level pattern clashing, signature oversized headboards, and a slew of soft goods (think: rugs, cushions, and fabric-lined walls), the upper midtown Manhattan stay is nothing if not bold. Below, a breakdown of how we’d make the style our own.
