Steal the Style: The Hoxton, Amsterdam
If you're ever hurting for home inspo, all you need do is look to your favorite hotel. With iconic designer-backed style and centerfold-worthy layouts, they know what's up. This week, we set our sights on The Hoxton, Amsterdam, a 17th-century canal house that was once home to the Dutch city’s mayor.
A Brooklyn-based writer and editor, Chelsea's work has appeared in Matador Network, The Huffington Post, the TripAdvisor blog, and more. When not planning her next trip, you'll usually find her drinking way too much iced coffee (always iced—she’s from New England) or bingeing a Netflix original series.
Our Inspiration: The Hoxton, Amsterdam
In the heart of Amsterdam, right along the the Herengracht canal, this Hoxton outpost is one of the Dutch capital’s chicest hotels. The property combines five separate canal houses into a 111-room boutique stay heavy on contemporary design. Subtle power-clashing wallpapers and ornamental ceilings are complemented by simple linens and warm tones throughout. Luxe velvet seating mingles with worn leather sofas and fireplaces-turned-bookshelves, establishing a luxe but certainly not stuffy look. Transitioning your space into a slice of the same is simple, just focus on playful details like geometric accent pieces, soft colors, and highly-textured pieces (think: chunky linens and wicker rattan chairs). Below, a few ideas to get the ball rolling.
