There is a time and a place for the show-off glitz, bleating techno, and flashing lights of touristy South Beach, but head just two miles up the same stretch of sand and all that noise and glare gives way to something else entirely: a quiet, mid-beach oasis with the same oceanfront views and none of the scene. This is the backdrop for the Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club, where the architecture is a throwback to Miami’s Art Deco days and the atmosphere is decidedly more grown-up.

The hotel’s 1940s-era exterior keeps Miami Beach’s storied past alive, but inside, that retro vibe transforms into a rare kind of sultry glamour—one you’d typically find along the Italian and French Rivieras. We’re talking soaring ceilings, a soothing navy-blue-and-white color palette, and rooms that border two gorgeous oceanfront pools, including one just for adults. At the beach, guests sip fruity cocktails under umbrellas with all the elegance of a Nice or Portofino beach club—albeit with blissfully fewer crowds and balmier Atlantic waters to dive into when it’s time to cool off.

The hotel’s 357 guest rooms and suites—many with balconies and full or partial views of the Atlantic Ocean—feature natural materials, marble floors that soothe bare feet after a day on the hot sand (or perhaps out shopping on nearby Lincoln Road), and clean-lined brass and wood furnishings that all work to create a natural-chic look.

There are many ways to spend your time at the property, from lounging in beach chairs and riding loaner bikes (both are included with your stay) to a complimentary yoga class and sweat session at the onsite gym. But if you’d rather explore the city, the art and design corridors of South Beach and downtown Miami are just minutes away.

Whatever you choose to do, make time for a wood-fired Neapolitan pizza and wild-caught Florida fish at the hotel’s signature restaurant, Donna Mare Trattoria. Or, if you’re craving a European raw bar setting with water views and crab, lobster, and oysters on ice, the hotel’s oceanfront restaurant, Bungalow by the Sea, is truly transporting.
