The Royal Monceau’s namesake suite, like the hotel itself, smacks of designer Philippe Starck’s whimsical touch. The duplex Presidential Suite might be Park Hyatt’s most impressive-sounding accommodation, but the Imperial Suite has far more going for it—so much so that several sheikhs chose to stay here. The three-bedroom, second-floor suite's elegant cream-and-taupe color scheme is offset by splashy works of art and modern sculptures, a kitchenette comes with a staff service entrance, and a 645-square-foot balcony overlooks the Rue de la Paix and the Louvre. The biggest draw, however, is the room’s very own spa, which features a steam room shower, whirlpool bath, and massage table for private treatments.

It doesn’t get more ethereal than the Royale Mandarin Suite at the Mandarin Oriental Paris, with its nearly all-white interiors and double-height floor-to-ceiling windows that let the natural light flood in. The clean lines and geometric fixtures are offset by 30s-era design pieces like a guilloche metal staircase railing and the bedroom’s silk headboard embroidered with a work by Man Ray. While the terrace is impressive, you might find yourself spending more time in the dining room (whose alabaster marble bar is perfect for entertaining) or soaking in the tub in the white-and-golf-leaf bathroom, with views that look out onto the Eiffel Tower.

You might have trouble drinking it all in, so why not take things one moment at a time? Cozy up in the living room with one of the novels from the bookcase, catch a snooze on the sun bed of your bedroom terrace, enjoy dinner in your indoor “winter garden” surrounded by floral fabric walls, then toast to the evening on the larger terrace—the room’s pièce de résistance—which overlooks the city rooftops, the Sacré-Coeur Basilica, and the sparkling Eiffel Tower.

If Le Bristol’s Imperial Suite is good for Victoria and David Beckham (who stayed here during the soccer star's five-month stint with the Paris Saint-Germain football club), it’s good enough for us. After an extensive four-year renovation, the 20s-era hotel has retained its classically Parisian interiors. Refined floral and damask fabrics, chevron parquet floors, gilded accents, and furniture by esteemed French brand Taillardat define the 3,475-square-foot suite, whose heavily draped windows overlook the hotel’s manicured garden. Host an ensuite dinner for 11 of your closest friends, where dishes by chef Eric Frechon (of the hotel's three-Michelin-starred restaurant Epicure) are best paired with the suite’s free bottle of Dom Pérignon.

During the 19th century, the high-ceilinged second floors of Haussmann buildings were referred to as “noble” floors—a natural setting for the Peninsula’s star suite. At 3,423 square feet, it’s the hotel’s largest accommodation, complete with a reception room, 10-seat dining room, office, and bedroom that branches off into separate dressing rooms and bathrooms (so twosomes never have to share). The oversized windows let light flood the living room, which is done up in beige and gold silks and brocades and Baccarat chandeliers. When you’re ready to slip away and see the sights, take the hotel’s Mini Cooper for a spin.

Hotel Plaza Athénée’s Royal Suite—one of the priciest in Paris—was built for those with deep pockets. The four-bedroom retreat, reachable via private guarded entrance, occupies the hotel's fifth floor and is decked out in antique mirrors, damask silks, French Regency-style furniture upholstered in jewel tones, and balconies with stunning Eiffel Tower views. A favorite perk: the hotel’s Avenue Montaigne address puts you within steps of the city’s best shops, from Saint Laurent and Celine to Prada and Dior. There’s a personal kitchen, of course, but Alain Ducasse’s three-Michelin-starred restaurant, with its statement Swarovski chandeliers, modular stainless-steel banquettes, and French haute dishes, is not to be missed.

Not every hotel is blessed with a room that’s a government-listed national monument. Enter the two-bedroom Suite Impériale at the Ritz Paris, the hotel's largest and priciest suite. Inside, you’ll find a near-exact replica of Marie Antoinette’s bedroom at Versailles, down to the 18th-century paneling, four-poster bed, wallpaper, and crown moldings. The bathroom, a former boudoir, is stunning with its signature swan faucets and pink marble tub overlooking a beautiful garden. The only difference you might find with Versailles is what you see outside your windows: instead of sprawling green grounds, you’ll be greeted with views of the Place Vendôme. It's no wonder the hotel was the pied-à-terre of choice for F. Scott Fitzgerald, Chopin, and Coco Chanel.

When the landmark Hôtel de Crillon underwent a monumental four-year renovation, Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld was tapped to design Les Grands Appartements—two new fourth-floor designer suites. The results are jaw dropping: the gray-mauve-eggshell interiors are decorated with Lagerfeld’s own photography and velvet upholstery that recall “the silvery light of Paris," as the designer once said. Bedrooms feature baldachin beds, his and hers dressing rooms, and statement bathrooms—one of which features a two-ton Carrera marble bathtub; the other a 17th-century red marble fountain­ turned sink sourced from the hotel’s original courtyard. The price to sleep here is steep, but for those who can afford it, the bragging rights justify every penny.
