Jackie’s Beauty Buys: 15 Items I’m Loving This Winter
Welcome back to my Beauty Buys column, where I'm highlighting all the products on my radar, plus my tried-and-tested favorites that are truly worth the hype. This roundup’s all about winter: exciting product launches, festive makeup trends, and the essentials necessary to prepare for frosty, dry weather.

COSRX Balancium Comfort Ceramide Cream
If you suffer from dry skin in the winter, this product is your savior. The ceramide facial cream provides a heavy dose of moisture and soothes any irritation, leaving a perfectly soft texture behind. I try to slather some on every single night—and if I forget, I definitely notice in the morning.
Amika Soulfood Nourishing Hair Mask
And if you have dry hair in the winter, this one’s your go-to. Amika’s Soulfood mask provides deep conditioning and repairs damage. Use it just once a week, and your frizzy, coarse strands will feel silky smooth.
Kosas Wet Lip Oil Gloss
I may have a drawer of 36 lip products (yes, it’s a problem), but none compare to this new release from Kosas. The hybrid gloss-treatment creates a trendy wet look while also providing a major dose of hydration, thanks to its formula made with peptides, hyaluronic acid, and evening primrose oil. All five colors are great, but I’m partial to the clear-ish Jellyfish shade for pure shine.
Kat Burki Intense Recovery Rose Hip Eye Serum
My eye area can get especially sensitive and finicky this time of year, so I’m getting ahead of the issues by incorporating Kat Burki’s rose hip eye serum into my skincare routine. It can be used morning and night, and it has an energizing effect in addition to the usual anti-aging and de-puffing results.
Bathing Culture Mind and Body Wash
When we think about full-body hydration in the wintertime, we typically just focus on lotion. But to truly do right by our skin, we need to take things a step back—to the body wash we use in the shower. Bathing Culture’s Mind and Body Wash moisturizes with sustainably-harvested ingredients like saponified coconut, olive, and sunflower oils, aloe vera, shea butter, and citric acid. Plus, it has a woodsy scent that’s undeniably perfect for the season.
Billie Razor
One more note on dry winter skin: your razor can make a huge difference. I’ve found that ever since I started using Billie—which has five blades completely encased in charcoal shave soap—my legs have felt much softer. I also love its easy subscription model that reminds me when it’s time to change out the cartridge.
Glossier Cloud Paint in Storm
Glossier’s cult-favorite Cloud Paint isn’t anything new, but it’s a seasonal favorite that I’m pulling out again this year. I usually go for powder blush in the summer to mattify my oily skin, but this gel-cream texture works better for the drier months—it’s super blendable and natural-looking. A little goes a long way, so the tube will last you a while.
The Crème Shop Crèmecoction Ampoule Serum - Ethereal Glow
The Crème Shop recently released a new line of serums—“Crèmecoctions”—that are only $12 each… yes, $12! I’m all for splurging on really incredible skincare, but I’m also not above a great deal when a product is made with quality ingredients. This one combines peach and argan oil for brightening, glowing effects.
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter
‘Tis the season for a radiant highlight. I adore the Champagne Pop shade of Becca’s—it’s a soft gold with pinky-peach pearl, and the formula is creamier than most pressed powders. I’ll definitely be incorporating the product into my holiday party makeup looks.
Supergoop! SPF Snow or Shine Kit
One more time for those in the back: Wear. Sunscreen. All. Year. Round. Seriously, it’s the best thing you can do to prevent skin damage and wrinkles. This cute kit from Supergoop! includes a full-size daily moisturizer with SPF 40, plus travel-size versions of the Unseen Sunscreen and Smooth & Poreless 100% Mineral Matte Screen. With all those options, there’s really no excuse to skip it.
Dear Dahlia Paradise Shine Eye Sequins
Hello, New Year’s Eve! While I don’t have my party plans totally figured out yet, I do have a makeup look in mind, and it includes these shiny glitter shadows from Dear Dahlia. They glide on easily and provide the perfect amount of drama.
Neogen Real Ferment Micro Essence
I’ve been using this essence every night for about three months now, and I’m deeming it the best part of my skincare routine. I apply it after cleansing and toning (before serums and moisturizer) by simply sprinkling it in my hands and patting it into my face and neck until it’s absorbed—that way, I don’t go through tons of cotton rounds. It leaves my skin absolutely glowing with its formula full of natural brighteners and antioxidants.
Kevyn Aucoin Foundation Balm
You may have noticed I lean toward cream products this time of year, and the trend continues with my foundation pick: Kevyn Aucoin’s Foundation Balm. It’s best for days when I want full coverage, and it has a matte finish that gives off an airbrushed look when blended.
Sundays Nail Polish No. 19
Nail polish is another product I definitely have in excess, but it’s hard for me to resist picking up a new wintry shade by Sundays. These formulas are truly my favorite ever, and they’re completely vegan and non-toxic (10-free).
Jillian Dempsey Gold Sculpting Bar
I’m ending with a major splurge, but there’s something about the cold winter days and holiday season that pushes self-care to the top of my list. And Jillian Dempsey’s Gold Sculpting Bar is exactly that—a total treat. The 24-karat vibrating bar acts as a massage for the face, releasing tension in facial muscles and giving skin an immediate toned, lifted look. Put it on your holiday wishlist!
