How to Make the Perfect Summer Cocktail
We dare you to drink just one.
Don’t get us wrong: we love rosé just as much as the next person. But there are too many awesome seasonal bevs out there to spend the entire summer drinking pink. So next time you have the clan over for a backyard BBQ, skip the usual bottle of blush and jazz things up with a warm-weather tipple that’s a little less cliché and a hell of a lot more interesting. Our new summer favorite? A fresh lemon, pineapple and brandy-based cocktail from Corinthia Hotel Lisbon‘s Tempus Bar Lounge, which was just rewarded Best Hotel Bar in Portugal for the second consecutive year at the Lisbon Bar Show. Nelson Antunes, the hotel’s legendary Bar Manager, shares the secret recipe here:
1.3 oz. brandy (Louriana)
1 oz. Licor Beirão
1.7 oz. fresh pineapple wedges
3 green cardamom berries
1 oz. fresh lemon juice
1 oz. egg whites
1.7 oz. Schweppes ginger ale
Place cardamom berries in a shaker and muddle with a cocktail muddler or handle of a wooden spoon. Add fresh pineapple, muddle again, then add the brandy, Licor Beirão, lemon juice and the egg whites. Introduce ice, replace lid and shake until chilled. Strain cocktail into ice filled glasses and top with ginger ale. Enjoy!
