This is Your Dream Vacation—According to Your Zodiac Sign
If you’re anything like us, your travel bucket list keeps getting longer and longer. To find out which dream trip to take next, we tapped professional astrologer Chani Nicholas for her advice on how to travel according to your zodiac sign. Her recommendations below.
Traits: “Aries wants a trip that is challenging, that will reveal to them their own strengths, but will also bring some peace and tranquility.”
Trip: A strenuous trek along the 11-mile Kalalau Trail, which stretches along the northwestern shore of Kauai and passes through ravishing, rich green valleys and untamed jungles. The hike is not for the faint of heart (the trail itself takes about a day to traverse) but the Pacific Ocean views make it well worth it.

Traits: “Taurus wants to be pampered and be surrounded by things that are sensually pleasing. To balance that out, Taurus needs an experience that will help to pull them out of complacency, to spur self-actualization and self-discovery.”
Trip: A pampering stay at Sedona’s Mii Amo, a Destination Spa. The luxury-spa hotel sits at the foot of the Boynton Canyon on a so-called vortex site, a spot where the earth’s energy is said to be at its most concentrated, and where healing and self-awareness is supposedly heightened.
Traits: “Gemini wants versatility. They want the kind of vacation where they’re able to experience many different things in each day and learn constantly. At the same time, Gemini is too scattered, so it’d be good idea for trip to have a central focus to it.”
Trip: An education-driven getaway to Mayan monuments like Chichén Itzá, Uxmal, Palenque, and Tikal, where you’ll get a glimpse into the traditions and cultures of the ancient civilization. Make your home base the 18th century Hacienda Misné, an idyllic countryside sleep with two pools, original stained glass windows, and gorgeous, bird-filled gardens strewn with hammocks.

Traits: “Cancer needs a vacation that will allow them to feel calm and comforted. It's also good for Cancer to be somewhere where they’re learning about the traditions, history, and roots of a place.”
Trip: A stay at The Greenbrier, a historic resort in the rugged mountains of West Virginia. Designed in the 1940s by society decorator Doroth Draper, the resort has hosted celebrities, presidents, and dignitaries, and is home to a Cold War-era bunker. Meanwhile, sumptuous guestrooms are designed with comfort in mind, thanks to luxe amenities like wood-burning fireplaces and expansive patios with nature views.
Traits: “Leo wants to go somewhere they can feel sexy and vibrant and alive—a place where self-expression and artistry is a part of the cultural landscape.”
Trip: An activity-packed sojourn to New Orleans, where you’re in for award-winning restaurants, raucous bars, live music, and stunning French and Spanish colonial architecture. To be in the center of all the action, bed down at the retro-inspired Ace Hotel New Orleans — a hipster hotspot with a two-story music venue, a poolside rooftop garden, and an onsite restaurant helmed by James Beard-nominated chefs.
Traits: “The Virgo seeks a travel experience that will support feelings of health and wellness. Physical activity is important but a sense of inner connectedness is, too.”
Trip: A health-minded stay at the legendary Lanserhof Tegernesee detox resort in the Bavarian Alps. Here, spa-goers are retaught how to chew and sleep, forced to cut sugar and alcohol from their diets, and if the specialists deem it necessary, subjected to futuristic medical evaluations including sleep assessments. The amenities make up for the rigors of the program: we’re talking an 18-course golf course, a saltwater swimming pool, nightly classical music concerts, and a monastically beautiful setting (all glass and stone and embowered by the forest).

Traits: “Libra needs two things: aesthetic beauty and socialization. Libra tends to feel isolated in new environments, so it’s important they go somewhere that promotes feelings of social connectedness.”
Trip: A party-fueled getaway to Mykonos. Get your bearings in Mykonos Town by exploring its maze-like lanes lined with churches and purple-hued bougainvillea, then hit one of the area’s many swanky beach bars, like Nammos, where you’ll rub shoulders with A-lister’s like Leonardo DiCaprio. Your party pad is the Boheme Mykonos, a 20-suite boutique property that combines traditional Mykonos style (whitewashed walls, stone floors, wooden shutters) with a contemporary bohemian aesthetic (bright Acapulco chairs, graphic print fabrics, bean bags).
Traits: “Scorpio is all about transformation. So, I’d want the Scorpio to somewhere extreme, a place where they can experience complete metamorphosis and renewal.”
Trip: A far-flung escape to Mongolia, where golden deserts, rugged mountains, and vast steppes will make you feel like you’re at the edge of the world. Journey to the Gobi Desert—an otherworldly, fossil-rich landscape that looks straight out of Jurassic Park—to see petroglyphs, meet Kazkh hunters, and discover where the world’s first dinosaur bones and egg were found. After a long day of exploring, unwind at the Three Camel Lodge, a sustainable hotel comprised of 50 ‘gers’ (Mongolian-style yurts)—all equipped with wood stove, hand-painted beds, and artisan-made furnishings.
Traits: “Sagittarius is the ultimate traveler. They’re always down to explore and see new places. But it’s important for Sagittarius to travel to a place where they feel free and can be led by their own intuitive process. You want them to have something akin to a spiritual awakening on vacation.
Trip: A therapeutic getaway to Yogyakarta, Indonesia—a destination renowned for its UNESCO-protected temples, its thriving arts scene (the city is an incubator for young and emerging talent), and its abundance of natural scenery. On your cultural hit list: Borobudur, the largest Buddhist temple in the world and the most visited tourist site in the country; Prambanan, the Hindu temple whose majestic ancient spires tower above the city; and Kota Gede, Yogyakarta’s old town, built more than 400 years ago. Your hotel is the colonial landmark, The Phoenix Hotel Yogyakarta MGallery.
Traits: “You want Capricorn to feel like they’re accomplishing something, even on vacation. So I’d recommend something physically challenging and immensely rewarding—a bucket list kind of trip.
Trip: Scaling the Great Wall of China. Starting from Gubeikou, trek from tower to tower, stopping for photos of the lush surrounding farmland and the craggy peaks of Mt. Simatai. To complete the trek in three days, you’ll hike an average of six miles a day, including some treacherous, slippery parts and bonus detours to otherworldly sites like Spider Valley. Get a taste of authentic Chinese culture by stopping at guesthouses in the rural villages along the way. And reward your efforts by ending your trip with a luxe stay at Aman Summer Palace, a one-time summer retreat of a Chinese empress.

Trip: A brain-off-bliss-out vacation to Jicaro—a tiny isle in the middle of Lake Nicaragua, just off the coast of Grenada. There’s not a single TV on the entire island and you’d be hard-pressed to find a WiFi signal. Zip line through the jungle canopy or paddle out to the freshwater lake to spot howler monkeys, lake turtles and over 90 species of birds. The Jicaro Island Ecolodge is a sustainable retreat with a lakeside spa, yoga classes, and organic dining. Ask the front desk to arrange a “sustainability tour” of the hotel’s grounds; it offers an in-depth look at the island’s natural flora and fauna.
