The World’s Top 10 Yoga Retreats
Sometimes, all of the sightseeing, eating and selfie-taking while on the road is so exhausting, we need another vacation after the trip. Our advice? Skip the jam-packed tours, and instead head to a wellness retreat where you can unwind for some real R&R.

Kripalu R&R Retreats, Massachusetts
This popular yoga retreat in Stockbridge, Mass., ranks as one of the best in North America for its personalized programs and tranquil lakefront location. Kripalu R&R Retreats give you the chance to curate your own experiences from a variety of movement classes, outdoor activities (kayaking, hiking and stand-up paddleboarding, anyone?) and workshops focusing on nutrition, balancing stress, and more. Want a trial run before you sign up for a longer stay? Grab a day-pass to the fitness center, or a quick weekend away.

Maderas Village, Nicaragua
Maderas Village is a tropical jungle escape overlooking Nicaragua’s most renowned swells. Here, you’ll be treated to surf lessons, horseback riding, catamaran tours, open-air yoga, massages, and farm-to-table meals made from locally-grown organic produce and the fresh catch of the day. Plus, the accommodations aren’t too shabby either — the eco-chic lofts, cabanas and thatch-roofed casitas are the definition of chill with ocean views and hammocks on the terrace.

Wanderlust Sunshine Coast, Australia
Part music festival and part yogi getaway, Wanderlust Sunshine Coast is more like a four-day celebration than a brain-off escape. With Queensland, Australia’s gorgeous beachfront, lagoons and subtropical forests as its backdrop, the event has a line-up of meditation, acoustic performances, lectures, and chef-served dinners. Spend your time at aerial yoga classes, pool parties, DJ dance sets, the beauty bar (the products and treatments are gratis), the mindful market (where local artisans sell handmade, homespun crafts), or at the food co-op, which has crunchy menus of everything green, vegan and gluten-free (try the craft kombucha, for real).

Yogascapes Berkshires Retreat, Massachusetts
Calling all fashionistas, this Berkshires getaway is for you. Free People and Yogascapes have joined forces to create a three-day itinerary where you’ll commune with nature, sleep under the stars, and get some stylish swag to boot. Mornings begin with a gentle vinyasa practice, followed by reflective meditation and some spa time in the sauna’s herbal steam. And when you’re not in downward dog, you’ll be tucking into seasonal meals as part of a ayurvedic-inspired cleanse.

Summersalt Yoga Retreat, Croatia
Pack your bags (and your yoga mat!) for Vis, an under-the-radar Mediterranean island off the coast of Croatia. While the focus at Summersalt Yoga is mindfulness, there are some killer perks as well. The small group will be staying in a stunning seaside villa, with its own private beach, garden and pool. And to top it off, you’ll also explore cobalt blue grottos by boat, stroll through picturesque fishing villages, sip vugava (white wine) at one of the island’s many vineyards, and catch some sun by the beach. If that doesn’t relax you, we don’t know what will.

Kaliyoga, Spain
Strut your stuff both on and off the mat during this seven-day vacay in southern Spain’s Alpujarra region. As you conquer the hilly terrain (there’s two full days of walking, plus two-hour yoga sessions every afternoon), you’ll be treated to views of waterfalls, gorges, valleys and Moorish villages. In your free time, indulge in healing therapies, take a cooking classes or go horseback riding at your leisure.

Big Sky Yoga Retreats, Montana
Ladies, let’s get in formation. This women-only getaway in Montana is designed to help you disconnect from your phone, your job, and your Facebook feed to get in touch with nature (which isn’t hard to do when you’re surrounded by glacial lakes, starlit skies and alpine meadows). There’s also a range of activities you can focus on from “cowgirl yogatography” (what happens when you mix yoga and horse photography) to “wellness winter wonderland” (includes: yoga, cross country skiing, and sleigh rides).

Blooming Lotus Yoga, Bali
Venturing to Bali to get your Eat Pray Love on is practically a rite of passage if you’re a diehard yogi. At the Blooming Lotus, there’s a full roster of activities. Check out the meditation and pranayama sessions, vinyasa classes, and asana workshops, in addition to the healing treatments, nature excursions and cultural experiences.

Women’s Wellness Retreat, New York
This waterfront oasis in the Finger Lakes is the perfect girls’ weekend away. Based at the Inns of Aurora, you’ll drink local vintages over farm-to-table fare (they had us at “wine”), join inspirational discussions, learn how to make custom-blend essential oils, and of course, take part in meditation and yoga classes. They also encourage guests to journal and create a vision for the coming year, so you leave feeling energized and focused.

Red Mountain Resort, Utah
Want a taste of the great outdoors? Look no further than Red Mountain Resort. Nestled into the red rock cliffs and canyons of southern Utah, it has everything you’d need to feel refreshed (think: hiking, mountain biking, fitness classes and spa treatments). And with Zion and Bryce Canyon national parks nearby, you can make this retreat as activity-packed or as salutary as you wish. After a day out in the fresh air, put your feet up in a splurge-worthy villa, kitted out with a gas fireplace, balcony and large soaking tub.
