10 Best Rooms with a Brew
For thirsty travelers tired of been-there, drunk-that vineyard vacations, beer-centric hotels keep things sudsy all over the world. Drink ancient ale at a 13th-century monastery turned luxury hotel in Prague, sip Americana straight from the tap at a Wisconsin boutique hotel, and taste the Andes at an ecolodge in the Ecuadorian rainforest.

Brewhouse Inn & Suites, Milwaukee
Downtown Milwaukee’s shuttered Pabst plant has been reborn as a 90-room boutique hotel with a five-story atrium, six antique copper brew kettles and an original 1882 spiral staircase. Get your Wisconsin on at the adjoining Jackson’s Blue Ribbon Pub, which occupies an 1891 mill house and serves fried cheese curds and PBR on tap. How American is that?

Hotel Teatro, Denver
This hip downtown boutique stay arranges customized trips to the area’s 200 breweries — and provides vintage bicycles so thirsty guests can arrive in style. Those concerned with the effect of the Mile High City’s elevation on their alcohol tolerance can sleep easy: The next day room service will deliver a breakfast omelet paired with a Michelada or Bloody Caesar to take the edge off. Happy trails.

Augustine Hotel Prague
Thirsty for a throwback? The five-star Augustine Hotel occupies seven buildings in a 13th-century Augustinian monastery, and it creates the aromatic St. Thomas ale using the monks’ original recipe. The hotel spa has an exfoliation treatment that uses organic hops as well as a beer body wrap. Inebriation never felt so good.

McMenamins, Portland, OR
Founded in 1983, the McMenamins label produces award-winning beers in the darnedest places (a refurbished midcentury school, say, or a suburban bowling alley complex). Head outside of Portland city limits to book a room with a veranda at McMenamins Edgefield in bucolic Troutdale. The 74-acre grounds include a brewery, Victorian-style hotel rooms, and no fewer than 10 bars pouring label favorites like Ruby Ale, Hammerhead Pale Ale and Terminator Stout.

Dogfish Inn, Delaware
Last summer hip craft label Dogfish Head opened this sleek hotel/motel/holiday spin near Lewes Beach. In addition to a kayak launch and Frisbee matches on the lawn, the 16-room inn has Dogfish brand bath amenities, a concept store stocked with Dogfish/Woolrich collaboration apparel, and loaner bikes for cruising to the label’s nearby pub and distillery in Rehoboth Beach. See you on the flipside, brah.

Park Hyatt Tokyo
Lost in Translation fans may associate Shinjuku’s cinematic skyscraper with whiskey, but the 178-room Park Hyatt Tokyo recently partnered with Sankt Gallen to create two limited edition craft beers. The Meyer Lemon Ale is fermented with citrus grown in Kiho, and the peppy Park Brewery Ale contains 21 types of hops. These brews are on offer only through mid-September, though, so come early and sip often.

Kerry Hotel, Shanghai
A resident brewmaster and on-site brewery attract diehard beer fans at Kerry Hotel's the Brew. The six craft beers and one cider rotate seasonally and are served in a clean, well-lighted place with blond wood, floor-to-ceiling windows and sleek chrome brewing equipment. Look for the Razorback Cider, a frothy little number made with local peaches.

Mashpi Lodge, Ecuador
Ecuador’s Chocó rainforest is one of the world’s most biodiverse swatches of green. The mod ecolodge Mashpi takes advantage of the yearlong growing season by serving rainforest-to-table meals alongside seasonal microbrews from craft label Santana Brewing Company. The cerveza artesanal nanobrewery is based in Quito and does not export, so Mashpi guests tap the Andes to taste alternately fruity, dry, malty and crisp red, blond and dark varieties.

Woodstock Station and Brewery, New Hampshire
The craft label behind the award-winning Pig’s Ear Brown Ale has 36 Victorian-style rooms at Woodstock Inn Station & Brewery along with a national production facility in the photogenic White Mountains. Regular Brewer’s Weekends (check the website for dates) invite homebrewers and beer enthusiasts to come for a full day of hands-on brewing instruction followed by a beer-paired dinner beneath the snowcapped range.

Fredericksburg Brewing Company Bed & Brew, Texas
Texas’s oldest brewpub was constructed circa 1890 from limestone, longleaf yellow pine and considerable Lone Star swagger. Book one of the 12 cowboy-chic guestrooms (individual design schemes include “Bordello” and “Admiral’s Quarters”) above the restaurant and beer garden, and receive a complimentary four-beer sampler for every night you stay. Be sure to taste a pour of the award-winning Hauptstrasse Helles (“Mainstreet Light”).
