Taylor Stitch started in 2008 as a menswear brand specializing in impeccably crafted shirts. The California-based line has since ventured into women’s fashions and even handmade denim, but the main draw continues to be the made-to-measure shirts—available in more than 250 fabrics and manufactured by one of America’s oldest shirting outfits. Find your perfect fit at the brand’s ultra hip brick-and-mortal on tree-lined Valencia Street. With industrial lighting, rolling ladders and wooden floors, the space is just as cool and as All-American as the threads.

Housed in what was once an old industrial laundry, Health Ceramics is a cavernous, light-flooded space that is equal parts factory and show room. Browse tiles, housewares and ceramics works, tour the on-site tile factory, stroll through the 3,500-square foot gallery-like showroom, or simply grab a cup of joe at Blue Bottle Coffee. However you chose to spend your time, we can guarantee you’ll be in there for hours.

Looking for a one-of-a-kind vintage piece? Wallflower’s your best bet. The quirky boutique stocks sartorial treasures from the ‘60s and ‘70s (think: paisley tops, fringe ponchos, hot pants), while also dabbling in vintage records, jewelry and home décor. Much like its apparel, Everlane’s new boutique is a minimalist’s dream. The angular furniture, soaring white ceilings and trendy fiddle-leaf fig trees all lend an air of uncluttered calm. Inside, you'll find just 100 streamlined styles, including pants and shoes; make sure to tap the on-site stylists for questions or product info.

As much as we love online shopping, nothing compares to going in-store. So when one of our favorite online brands, Anaïse, opened a high-design boutique in the heart of Mission, we could hardly wait to check it out. Owner and style maven Renee Friedrich has curated every aspect of the shopping experience, from the Italian labels it stocks, to the luxurious design finds (think: vintage Italian lamps and hand-patch worked silk curtain) scattered throughout the space.

After a 40-plus year run, Aquarius Records, S.F.’s oldest indie vinyl shop, closed its doors in July, only to reopen under a different name and management this fall. And to the collective relief of music heads everywhere, Stranded Records is every bit as good as its beloved predecessor. Stock up on indie and avant-garde CDS and vinyl, and be sure to ask the super knowledgeable staff for their personal recommendations.

Taxidermied mice, vintage lithographs and encased insects are hardly anyone’s first choice when it comes to a souvenir. But we can assure you that Paxton Gate’s myriad oddities are more than worth your while. First opened as a tiny alley store in 1992, the place sells artifacts you'd expect to find in a natural history museum, from fossils to skulls and dusty tomes on witchcraft and botany. Sign up for a terrarium-building class, or simply pick up some spooky decoration just in time for Halloween.

This pretty boutique is known for its feminine dresses and and festival-inspired options from designers like Mara Hoffman, Just Female and Ace & Jig. The clothing runs on the pricier side, but the clothes are sourced from designers all over the world, so you can rest assured you won’t spot anyone else sporting your style.
