Cabin Porn At Its Finest

Who hasn't dreamed of owning a rustic-chic cabin in the middle of the woods? This, ahem, conservatively named book created by Vimeo co-founder Zach Klein includes hundreds of glossy images that will satisfy your every vacation home fantasy.

A Brooklyn-based writer and editor, Chelsea's work has appeared in Matador Network, The Huffington Post, the TripAdvisor blog, and more. When not planning her next trip, you'll usually find her drinking way too much iced coffee (always iced—she’s from New England) or bingeing a Netflix original series.

Cabin Porn’s origin is that of a happy accident. What started as Vimeo co-founder Zach Klein’s blog dedicated to DIY homebuilding designs and craftsmanship tips quickly snow-balled into a large-scale community of contributers – both builders and cabin-admirers alike.

Lucky for us, Klein and the people over at Beaver Brook (Klein and friends’ personal upstate NY forest preserve that hosts workshops and residency programs) realized the goldmine they were sitting on and spent a generous six years of their life combing through an archive of some 12,000 cabin photos, condensing the best of the best into a pretty little book of 200 charming rustic escapes. But more than just an array of rural stunners, Cabin Porn also provides purposeful how-tos on topics like maple syrup production, simple structures construction and adapting to treehouse life.

For city folk like us, perusing glossy pages filled with remote wooded retreats, mountaintop adult tree houses and seaside barn houses means taking a mini-vacay from our hectic urban lives, and who doesn’t need that every once in awhile? Kickstart your off-the-grid fantasy (or potential life phase?) with a look at our favorite photos from the collection.

A magical cabin converted from a water mill. A Serbian painter built several wooden cabins along this river in the Bosnian village of Zelenkovac, transforming the mills that belonged to his father.
