Royalton Negril

This luxurious waterfront resort, part of a Canadian hotel chain that’s popping up all over the Caribbean these days, is set just east of Seven Mile Beach in Negril on a private point with cove and beach access. Spend your days strolling the long beach that borders the property or snorkeling along the quiet cliffs stretching westward. The 407 rooms and suites here include some with ocean views and direct access to semi-private pools. While you won’t want for dining options here—the six restaurants include Teppanyaki, Italian, Caribbean, and a steakhouse—you’re also a short taxi ride to the restaurants fronting Negril’s busy beach and West End. The complimentary kid's club is great for families, while couples spring for the adults-only Hideaway area, a section of the resort that's set away from the crowds.

Round Hill Hotel & Villas

If it feels like you’re living out a Caribbean Ralph Lauren ad at this prestigious oceanfront resort, there’s a reason. The famous fashion designer owns a villa here and designed the interiors of every oceanfront room in the Pineapple House. If you prefer your own villa with your all-inclusive stay, those are available, too, at various enviable overlooks throughout the 110-acre property. Packages include meals at all the seaside restaurants and water sports such as kayaking, windsurfing, and glass-bottom boat tours—not to mention great snorkeling just off the hotel’s small but well-kept beach. But the real highlight is Round Hill’s lush spa, housed in an 18th-century plantation building whose sprawling seafront lawn is dotted with hammocks. Even if you don’t sign in for a treatment, strolling the grounds feels like a wellness escape of its own.

Azul Beach Resort Sensatori Jamaica by Karisma

Natural materials—brushed metals, unfinished wood beams, bamboo—add to the soothing ambiance of this oceanfront Karisma property on the eastern end of Negril’s Seven Mile Beach. There’s a designated adults-only area with a swim-up pool bar to separate couples from the family crowds, while the 285 rooms and suites are spread out among several buildings linked by pathways lined with tropical foliage. While you'll find plenty of party atmosphere by the pools, there are lots of quiet spots to discover, too, if you’ve come for peace and quiet. Guest rooms have a South Beach feel, with lots of white, the odd splash of color, and mosaic-tiled showers. Dining is another standout, with fresh Caribbean seafood (including lobster) offered at the buffet-style dinner several nights a week as well as excellent Italian at the reservations-only Di Romagna.

Sandals Negril Beach Resort & Spa

Honeymooners and scuba divers love this attractive Sandals property on Negril's Seven Mile Beach, thanks to the diving trips on house power boats that are part of the inclusive package. Splurge on the new, two-story Sunset Loft Suites, on the property's quieter east end, which come with mahogany furniture and private balconies with outdoor soaking tubs that your butler can ready for you at a moment’s notice. Spend the rest of your stay sailing a Hobie Cat, trying out paddle-boarding, or taking advantage of the water-skiing and snorkeling trips (all included). While there are several good restaurants on site, a free shuttle is available to whisk guests to Beaches Negril down the road, where your all-inclusive privileges extend to its restaurants including delicious Japanese at Soy.

Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort and Private Island

While it’s not quite Bora Bora, there’s a lot to love about this Sandals property—including the Caribbean’s first overwater bungalows. The resort is set on a wide lagoon, whose calm surf makes for excellent swimming. Refreshing dips can also be had at any of the seven onsite pools, where you'll find two swim-up pool bars and just as many whirlpools. Lobster is a regular entrée on the menu at the resort’s multiple restaurants, which include French and Italian, a jerk shack, and an atmospheric Thai restaurant on a private island reachable by boat. As is the case at most Sandals resorts, scuba diving trips (and gear) are included in your rate, as is use of their kayaks, snorkeling gear, paddle-boards, and Hobie Cats.

Couples Swept Away

The honeymooning crowds might dominate the scene at this 19-acre adults-only resort fronting Negril’s storied Seven Mile Beach, but you’ll find plenty of vacationing friend groups who tone down the newlywed vibe. Dining is a high point here: you can enjoy lots of healthy smoothies and wrap options poolside during the day, while fine-dining options from Asian to Caribbean put a nice cap on the evening. Splash out on a Premier Beachfront Suite and you’ll gain access to a roomy outdoor living area overlooking the ocean and be within steps of the sand. One caveat (or extra perk, depending on what you're here for): while there is nightly entertainment, things tend to quiet down early.

Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall

A 15-minute drive east of Montego Bay, this classy Hyatt feels less like a cookie-cutter all-inclusive and more like a boutique luxury property. Set alongside sister property Hyatt Ziva, the adults-only Zilara fronts a sugar-white beach and boasts a lively swim-up bar where the party starts early every day. Upgrade to one of the swim-up suites and you'll get the choice of either a semi-private pool or direct ocean view. We love the long oceanfront sidewalk that links the two properties—perfect for afternoon strolls in the sun—and the Zen Spa, whose private beachside cabana area is a perfect spot for relaxing pre- and post-treatment. Foodies will love the culinary offerings: in addition to Zilara's five restaurants and bars, guests also have full access to all of the restaurants at neighboring Ziva, so there’s more dining than you’ll probably have time to experience.

The Caves Negril

You won't find a more intimate all-inclusive experience in Jamaica than the one at The Caves, hidden away on a cliff on Negril’s West End. Twelve thatched cottages and a villa stretch across the property’s 10 lush clifftop acres, where guests are free to descend ladders attached to the limestone or leap right from the bluffs into the turquoise sea below. Included in your rate are three daily meals, alcoholic beverages, and non-motorized water sports, though it’s worth paying extra for a few perks including a massage at the property’s Aveda spa and five-course dinners, which are served in private, candlelit caves just out of splashing distance.

Sunset at the Palms Jamaica

You’re across the street from the ocean at this adults-only boutique in Negril, but after spending the night in one of the hotel's atmospheric treehouse-style guest houses, you’ll hardly mind the short walk to its private oceanfront beach club on Bloody Bay. The hotel is set on 10 acres thick with palm trees and tropical flowers, and you’ll have mountain or garden views (hummingbirds are everywhere!) from your private porch. There’s a grill-style oceanfront restaurant where the drinks flow all day as well as restaurants on the main property that include a chef’s table (yes, it's all included). Perhaps Sunset's only downfall: the spa is basic, with just a few treatment rooms and a covered deck for alfresco massages.
