9 Hotel Interior Design Ideas for Your Home

Calling all home design junkies. We see you and we feel you, so we've rounded up 9 of the world's most stylish hotels, which pump out interior design ideas like it's their only job. From mid-century modern to nomad-chic, these are the crashpads we'd love to model our homes after.

A Brooklyn-based writer and editor, Chelsea's work has appeared in Matador Network, The Huffington Post, the TripAdvisor blog, and more. When not planning her next trip, you'll usually find her drinking way too much iced coffee (always iced—she’s from New England) or bingeing a Netflix original series.

The Hoxton, Amsterdam, Netherlands

Are you aching for a dose of contemporary sophistication and laid-back luxury? The Hoxton, Amsterdam has got that down pat. Subtle but still power-clashing wallpapers and ornamental ceilings are complemented by simple linens and warm tones throughout. Luxe velvet seating mingles with worn leather sofas and fireplaces-turned-bookshelves, establishing a luxe but certainly not stuffy look. Transitioning your space into a slice of the same is simple, just focus on playful details like geometric accent pieces, soft colors, highly-textured pieces (think: chunky linens and wicker rattan chairs) and don’t skimp on playful – throw in a sea of potted plants or some hearty succulents.

Boro Hotel New York, Long Island City

If you’re a fan of House Hunters or basically anything airing on HGTV, then you know that a dash of patterned tile – be it a backsplash or bathroom floor – can work home facelift wonders. Boro Hotel has capitalized on this concept with funky, Euro-inspired geometric and floral tiles in common areas and guest rooms. But aside from that quirky element, guest rooms really deal in the basics: hardwood floors, porcelain tiled baths, and all-white Italian linens. To replicate the bright design, do what you can with natural light, sprinkle in a few bedside exposed bulb pendants (or a retractable wall lamp), throw a sturdy headboard on your bed, and tuck a solid sawhorse desk in the corner.

Hôtel Providence, Paris, France

Beyond bold wallpapers, rich and brooding color palettes, concentrated splashes of brass, and marble mosaic flooring. Waking up in Paris’ Hôtel Providence is like finding yourself in your most eccentric aunt’s jewelry box. Rooms run the aesthetic gamut from classic Parisian to bohemian chic, but common themes are expertly woven throughout. Want the same experience at home? You’re just a fresh paint job and a handful of velvet fringed beside lamps away – granted, your redesign won’t come with postcard-worthy Montmartre and Sacré-Cœur views

Hotel Des Galeries, Brussels, Belgium

Sometimes simple and bright is best. When you’re ready to unclutter your space and capitalize on airiness, borrow away from Hotel Des Galeries, Brussels’ blueprint. The contemporary design is all cozy white walls with linens to match, homey parquet flooring, and concentrated pops of color. If you’re concerned about the cost of starting fresh, we’re pretty certain you could do the whole thing on a budget – just head for IKEA, our favorite wallet-friendly European import.

Soho House Chicago, Illinois

If you’re living in a city like NYC, then you know space is a hot (read: HOT) commodity. While being limited in terms of spare room may seem like a design detriment, Soho House Chicago shows that a lot can be can still be effectively done. Their “Tiny & Small” guestrooms go for mid-century modern – aka the Mad Men aesthetic – with restrained demure palettes (think: yellows, teals, and grays), worn plaid rugs, and entertainment stands that double as bar stands. To replicate the gritty glamour in your own home, hit a local flea market. Instead of paying an arm and leg for “vintage” furniture that was mass-produced this year, you’ll find authentic pieces rife with character.

Peacock Pavilions, Marrakech, Morocco

While you can’t really change the height of your ceilings (oh, if only), gallery walls, tribal-chic floor coverings, patterned walls and ceilings, and eclectic pendant lighting can immediately move your home in the direction of the modern nomad. Marrakech’s boutique Peacock Pavilions has that look on lock, with artisanal accents, like handwoven rugs and hand dyed textiles, sourced straight from the souks. If you’re taking baby steps towards a completely new look, try piling your bed high with vibrant accent pillows, hanging a gilded mirror or two, or embracing a bold new color. This is definitely a design that comes together after years of collecting and curating.

The Old Clare, Sydney, Australia

While I don’t suggest reworking your plumbing to plop a freestanding tub or glass shower in your room, there’s still much to be learned from The Old Clare’s industrial open floor plans. Historic knick knacks, bespoke goose-down bedding, and exposed brick, concrete, and timber combine to deliver a distinctly old-world feel. To take your space back a century or so, try hairpin side tables, barebones window treatments, upcycled vintage seating, and a classic wool throw (a la Pendleton) on for size.

The Marlton Hotel, NYC

In its 117 years of existence, The Marlton Hotel has housed many a transient Greenwich Village creative (including Jack Kerouac, who penned not one, but two novellas whilst living there) proving that inspiration and a sense of vision is just part of the spot's fabric. Following in the footsteps of Paris' most design-savvy sleeps, intimate guest rooms are done up with herringbone wood floors, Regency-style velour headboards, brass bedside light fixtures, and mirrored armoires. If you're having trouble mastering the look yourself, concentrate on delicate feminine details and start with a set of luxurious linens.

Avalon Hotel and Bungalows Palm Springs, California

Though Spanish architecture and a citrus garden may be hard to whip up on the fly, there's still a lot to be stolen from the Avalon Hotel's Golden Age look. Spacious black and white parlors unfold in the presence of gas-burning fireplaces while delicate touches (think: crystal wall sconces, mirrored coffee tables, and asymmetric accents) clinch the space's take on Hollywood Regency. Contrasting colors reign in the bedroom, as well, with patterned linens and pillows grabbing attention atop a soft white bed. To bring a little 20's glitz and glamour into your own home, focus on mirrored furniture, a high contrast color scheme, and oversized wall prints. Oh, and feel free to throw in some animal prints if that's your thing.
