8 New Hot Spots in Paris

With its classic landmarks and its historic boulevards, Paris is timeless in its appeal. But the City of Light is always turning up new hotspots —a trendy new café, a buzzy of-the-moment hotel, even a recently-opened perfume museum—that are just as worth adding to your Paris itinerary. To get the lowdown on the city’s best new spots to eat, drink, sleep and play, we teamed up with the style setters at French luxury resale site Vestiaire Collective, who also shared six must-have pieces you need to hit the street in style.

Nolinski Paris

With this stylish newcomer, you get the best of both words: an unbeatable location on Avenue de l’Opera, steps from the Louvre, and a high-design, residential vibe that gives one the distinct impression of staying in a chic Parisian’s pied-à-terre. The look is art deco with a contemporary flair — thick marble surfaces, polished brass fixtures, floor-to-ceiling mirrors, neoclassical sculptures, and angular coffee tables stacked high with books about fashion, art and photography. Explore the luxury department stores nearby, including Galeries Lafayette and Printemps, or simply retreat to the subterranean spa, where you’ll fill a sauna, a hammam, and plenty of pampering treatments.

The Look

In Paris, the look is a mix of feminine glamour and smart streetwear. To get the style, pair a bubblegum-pink Opening Ceremony skirt with a Comme des Garçons t-shirt, then tie together the outfit with a lacquered black Chloé raincoat, a Fendi baguette leather handbag, silver sequined Miu Miu sandals, and an ethereal, precious stone-covered headband. Browse other show-stopping pieces at Vestiaire Collective, the world's leading marketplace for buying and selling pre-owned luxury fashion.

Holiday Café

There’s nothing quite like Paris’s café culture. And at Holiday, the new coffee shop from the American travel magazine of the same name, you’ll get that bustling Parisian café feel—plus, restaurant-quality eats courtesy of Chef Daniel de la Falaise. A sampling of some of the delicious plates you’ll find on the menu: a “croquet demoiselle” (a twist on the traditional with a quail’s egg and a fine herb salad), foie gras with a mix of charcuterie, and apple compote fresh cream and berries.

Le Grand Musée du Parfum

If you, like us, never leave Paris without picking up a new signature fragrance, you’ll want to make a stop at this immersive new perfume museum—the first attraction of its kind in the world. Set inside a 19th-century mansion surrounded by a garden overflowing with aromatic plants and flowers, the stately spot is dedicated to all things scent. You’ll learn about the history of fragrance and how the industry's top "noses" create scents through high-tech sensory exhibits like the “garden of scents,” where diffusers blast out evocative smells like cinnamon and fire smoke. And in the gorgeous museum’s store, a robot will custom-make a fragrance matching your olfactory profile. Talk about a personalized souvenir!

Maison Lautrec

With its vibrant nightlife and fashionable young denizens, Pigalle is arguably one of the hottest neighborhoods in Paris. The restaurant in the center of it all? Maison Lautrec, a recently-opened neo-bistro that manages to bring the energy of the street indoors. In the voluptuous space (think: gold velvet upholstery and wood paneling), chic patrons sip expertly-blended cocktails and tuck into fresh, seasonally-driven dishes grown on a vegetable patch not far from Paris. We inhaled the lamb shoulder with glazed turnips and oranges.

Ritz Paris

Coco Chanel lived there for 34 years. Pablo Picasso, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway were regulars at its saloon. And Sophia Lauren once described it as “the most romantic hotel in the world.” If that doesn’t sell you on the Ritz Paris—the mythic, five-star hotel that recently reopened its doors after a four-year, $200 million renovation—we don’t know what will. New additions include a Versailles-style garden, an opulent ballroom, the world’s first Chanel spa, and a tunnel built to allow the rich and famous to come and go unnoticed. Would you expect anything less?

Chez la Vieille

Chez la Vielle is like the Parisian bistros you see in the movies. It’s warm and inviting, with a solid wine list and a menu featuring all the comfort-driven classics you’d expect from a restaurant whose bones date back to the 16th century. It’s also the latest venture from superstar chef Daniel Rose and restaurant mogul Stephen Starr, which should explain why it’s next to impossible to score a reservation. But persevere, and we promise that you’re in for the feast of your lifetime. Start with the duck terrine, then devour the bouillon with spaetzle, grilled bacon, and poached egg for your main. Dessert is a pot de crème with Madagascar vanilla.

La Guingette d’Angele

We realize most people don’t go to Paris with the intention of eating salads and sipping green juice. But it’s inevitable that at some point or another in your Paris sojourn, you’ll tire of warm baguettes and juicy steak frites—the point at which you should venture over to this healthy takeaway spot near the Louvre. The menu is designed by naturopath-chef Angele Maeght, and features mostly raw, gluten-free take-away lunch boxes, with dishes like chili chicken caramelized with honey and tamari and avocado toast and gomasio.
