Your Dream Italian Wedding

If we were to pick one place to tie the knot, it would be Italy, hands down. But with so many gorgeous landscapes, centuries-old villas and epic meals to experience, you'll need help planning your dream Italian wedding. We turned to top wedding planner Giorgia Fantin Borghi to share her favorite venues, from a medieval fortress towering over Lago Maggiore to a seaside resort recalling an old village in Puglia.

Borgo Egnazia, Puglia

You may have heard of Borgo Egnanzia, thanks to Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel who tied the knot here several years ago. Set on 45 acres of fig and olive groves, where the hills of the Itria Valley gently fall into the Adriatic, the eye-popping hotel was inspired by the shapes and colors of a typical Puglian village, built with blinding-white Tufo stone. Everything about the place is for a high-end dream Italian wedding, from the tiered swimming pools and 18-hole golf course to the sumptuous rooms with private terraces, luxe spa, standout authentic restaurants and Mediterranean style gardens that look out onto the sea.

Villa Erba, Lake Como

On the shores of romantic Lago Como, the go-to vacation spot for A-listers like George Clooney, sits the gorgeous Villa Erba. An architectural treasure from the late 1800s, the property was once the lakeside retreat for the Italian film director Luchino Visconti. Inside, the ornate interiors have colorful frescos, inlay ceilings and crystal chandeliers, under which you can dance the night away. The manicured gardens rise above the crystal blue lake, and set a dreamy stage for a cocktail reception and ceremony, complete with the bride’s arrival down the grand staircase or, for even more dramatic flair, by boat on the private pier.

ViIlla Durazzo, Liguria

Portofino’s eye-catching beauty is on full display at Villa Durazzo, which straddles a bluff overlooking the Gulf of Tigullio. This one-of-a kind 17th Century aristocratic residence is the stuff dream weddings are made of. Just imagine a formal ballroom with frescoed ceilings for dancing and a surrounding park with white cobblestone paths that wind through roses and camellias, past cypress groves, gurgling fountains and an enchanted well.

Castello Di Casole, Tuscany

In the rolling hills of Tuscany, not far from Florence and Siena, are two grand cypress-lined lanes that lead to a historic castle now open as a 42-suite boutique hotel. The hotel and surrounding villas -each with their own glass-tiled pool - are set on a historic 4,200 acre estate bordered by ancient olive trees and vineyards. The hotel is built around the ruins of a 17th-century castle and garden, with a small chapel for officially tying the knot. For the reception, look no further than the terrace above the infinity pool, with views of Tuscan hills stretching into the distance.

Rocca Borromeo di Angera, Lake Maggiore

On a rocky hilltop that dominates the South bank of the Lago Maggiore, this 13th-century fortified castle is perfect for couples looking to throw a big blow out. Couples can choose from several options for the ceremony and the reception: a wide terrace with views of the lake, a medieval courtyard, and several grand banquet halls.
