The Fashion Lover’s Guide to NYC

The Standard High Line opened in 2009 but it’s still considered one of the hottest hotels in NYC. There’s the unmatched nightlife: a buzzy ground-floor beer garden perfect for catching a drink between shows; a hard-to-get-into nightclub where there’s a plunge pool, disco ball, and 360-degree views of the city; and the Top of the Standard (or Boom Boom Room, as it’s better known)—a glittering bar where you’ll be in the company of models, designers, and editors. The hotel’s modernist glass façade (which puts the pretty people both inside and out on display) has also helped to establish the hotel’s reputation as a place to, er, stay up into the wee hours of the morning.

Located within the recently-opened 11 Howard Hotel, Le Coucou may be a newcomer on the scene, but it’s fast becoming a Fashion Week mainstay. We’re crediting the restaurant’s A-list crowd, super chic interiors—all vaulted ceilings, pewtered-steel chandeliers, and mohair banquettes—and its well-conceived dishes (think: lobster stuffed squash blossoms and warmed oysters with seaweed butter) for its swift ascension to NYC style fame.

Even though most NYFW action takes place on the city’s west side, there’s no discounting the Lower East Side as one of Manhattan’s prime nightlife destinations. The hotel that will put you in the center of it all? The Ludlow, a retro-inspired party pad from famed hotelier Sean MacPherson. A favorite among the fashion set, the hotel sports a sultry look best captured in details like the mosaic-floored lobby, red leather couches, brushed gold chandeliers, and shearling-topped velvet armchairs. The ground-floor restaurant and adjoining bar, Dirty French, serves up French fare with a Cajun twist in a see-and-be-seen setting.

This Italian restaurant has all the trappings of a NYFW hotspot: a central Meatpacking location, a gorgeous glassed-in space perfect for people-watching, and a diet-friendly menu that’s more vegetable- and seafood-centric than pasta-heavy. It’s also a great spot for brunch if you crave strong coffee and to-die-for French toast.

Walk through the doors of this gorgeous Beaux-Arts hotel, and you won’t help but gush over its French-inspired Jacques Garcia interiors. Velvet drapes, tasseled sconces, and ornate crown-moldings line the sexy labyrinth-like hallways, and guestrooms feel like airy apartments thanks to antique Heriz rugs, maple floors, and black-and-white French photographs. Once you're done taking in your digs, settle in for a meal of whole roasted chicken with foie gras, black truffle, and brioche in the buzzy European-inspired restaurant, then wash it all down with a Mother’s Little Helper (a stress-melting concoction of gin, sherry, triple sec and elderflower liqueur.)

Jonathan Waxman’s Barbuto has become so inextricably linked to Fashion Week that it’s impossible to bring up one without mentioning the other. Cozy, inviting, and just a stone’s throw from the nearby Industria Superstudio (a major Fashion Week venue), the Italian restaurant is known for its laid-back, convivial vibe, and standout roast chicken, which some profess to be the best in the city. A hearty lunch here will give you the fuel you need to finish the day strong.

This Meatpacking nightclub is widely-considered the epicenter of NYFW nightlife. Mark Ronson DJ’d a surprise set at the club in 2015, and A-listers like Naomi Campbell, J Cole, Hannah Bronfman, and ASAP Ferg have all made appearances over the years. We haven’t a clue how to get in (the door is one of the hardest in the city), but we’d recommend walking by just to watch the club’s fashionable crowds spill into the street.
