Miami’s Sexiest Nightlife Spots

Miami may have sultry pool scenes by day, but it’s at night when things really heat up in the 305. Here, Miami's best bars, nightclubs and rooftops to party with the pretty people.

LIV

Everyone knows about Miami’s best nightclub—and if you don’t, then it's time to spice up your weekends. Within the Fontainebleau, LIV is where to find the biggest ragers. Celebs including Bieber, P-Diddy, and the Kardashians come to dance until dawn at this sexy party palace. Plus, some of the biggest names in music (ahem, Calvin Harris) are known to spin beats here.

Sugar

The Brickell District’s just-opened EAST, Miami hotel is impressive in its own right. With four pools, and a buzzy restaurant, it’s already one of the city’s newest hotspots. But the real showstopper is Sugar, a rooftop bar and garden on the 40th floor that has killer views of downtown Miami and Biscayne Bay. Intimate seating areas tucked into nooks surrounded by lush greenery, hanging lanterns, and wooden walkways make the place feel like a tropical oasis. On the menu: Asian-inspired dishes such as steamed prawn and scallop dumplings, Korean chicken wings, and coconut palm leaf crepes with Florida mangoes, best paired with one of their inventive cocktails—the lychee blossom with vodka and sake is a must.

The Basement

At first glance, the Miami Beach Edition seems super refined and polished compared to most South Beach stays. It’s got manicured grounds, two cabana-lined pools, a fine-dining restaurant, and a sprawling spa, all catering to its high-end clientele. But once you duck underground, you'll find quite the opposite crowd: leggy young things come to let loose at The Basement’s neon-lit nightclub, bowling alley and ice-skating rink. Just think of it as a playground—for adults.

Broken Shaker

The Freehand’s hip Broken Shaker is one of Miami’s best bars. Locals come for the chill, laid-back atmosphere as well as the impressive drink list, which is crafted by a James Beard Award semi-finalist. Expect cool cocktails made with homemade bitters, herbs from the on-site garden, and house-pickled garnishes, plus a tapas-style menu with plates like locally-made Proper sausages on pretzel buns from Zak the baker.

Living Room

The 305 is choc-a-block with stylish lounges, and the Living Room at W South Beach easily tops the list. Its sexy decor (think: zebra-print throws, candles, and low purple lounges) sets the mood, but it’s the innovative artisanal cocktail program that really knocks it out of the park. Created by Sonoma’s Scott Beattie and the team behind The Dutch, the drinks are infused with essential oils and garnished with edible flowers from Verde Gardens—order the Waverly Place Echo (mandarin vodka, fresh lemon, pomegranate seeds and Beattie’s Five-Spice Honey Syrup, which is a mix of star anise, fennel, cinnamon, cloves and Szechuan peppercorns). And for food, there’s fun snacks like truffle popcorn and grilled cheese loaded with bacon, avocado and tomato.

Rose Bar

Looking for a classy cocktail bar? Rose Bar hits the spot. Designed by Ian Schrager, the intimate space in the lobby of the iconic Delano hotel is as sophisticated as it gets, with Euro models and Hollywood types sipping expensive Cosmos and rubbing shoulders under low, pink-tinted lighting. If hunger strikes, there’s also a menu of light bites from Bianca, the hotel’s posh Italian restaurant.
