10 Pet-Friendly Hotels in the U.S. We Love

If you've ever been away from your pet for an extended period of time, then you know that FaceTime can never replace actual face time. Here, we've rounded up a crop of hotels that know how to pamper not only you, but your four-legged friends, so you never have to subject yourself to sad puppy eyes again.

A Brooklyn-based writer and editor, Chelsea's work has appeared in Matador Network, The Huffington Post, the TripAdvisor blog, and more. When not planning her next trip, you'll usually find her drinking way too much iced coffee (always iced—she’s from New England) or bingeing a Netflix original series.

The London West Hollywood, CA

This posh WeHo venue wears its pet-friendliness on its sleeve—just peep the hotel entrance, where two (rather realistic) bulldog statues greet guests on arrival. Once you’re through the lobby doors, you’ll likely catch sight of Winston and Churchill, the sometimes bowtie-wearing English Bulldogs that collectively serve as the spot’s official mascots. Well-behaved pups, like Winston & Churchill, are welcome to sprawl out in specially designated suites, and to lounge by the rooftop pool while their humans enjoy the white linen cabanas and 360-degree views of the Hollywood Hills. The chic digs are even Tuna the Insta-famous Chiweenie-approved, if you need further convincing.

Pet Policy: one small dog (less than 30 lbs.) per room for an additional $20/night and a one-time $100 cleaning fee; no cats

Loews Coronado Bay Resort, CA

At San Diego’s Loews Coronado Bay Resort, four-legged friends are—arguably—treated even better than paying guests. The “Loews Loves Pets” program makes sure your fur baby’s every need is met, offering gift bags with pet tags, bowls, and special treats as well as in-room access to special beds, leashes, collars, doggie bags, and drumroll, please….a room service menu with gourmet options crafted by the hotel’s head chef. The hotel’s commitment to pets should come as no surprise if you know anything about the Unleashed by Petco Imperial Beach Surf Dog Competition, however. Loews has been happily hosting the USA’s very first dog surfing competition since 2006, and they offer surfing lessons on the regular if you think your pup’s got what it takes to hang ten.

Pet Policy: up to two pets per room (maximum 40 lbs. each) for a $150/stay fee

Park Hyatt Chicago, IL

If he could speak, Parker, the one-eyed pug, could tell you all about Park Hyatt Chicago’s pet perks. The seven-year-old pup was adopted in 2016 by the hotel following their partnership with PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving), the Windy City’s largest no-kill shelter. The feel-good nature of this story doesn’t stop there, either, as 100 percent of the pet fees collected by the Chi-Town Gold Coast spot are donated to the shelter. Chic décor, large flatscreen TVs, oversized soaking tubs, and a full-service spa are just some of the creature comforts guests have to look forward to, while pups are treated to plush pet beds, dog bowls, and plenty of snacks. The hotel even has its own pet-dedicated hashtag, so if you share any photos of Parker or your own pup, throw them a bone and tag #BarkHyattChicago.

Pet Policy: 50 lb. weight limit and $100 fee for stays up to six nights; additional $100 deep-cleaning fee for stays exceeding six nights

Cypress Inn, Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA

Since its debut in 1929, the boutique, Mediterranean-style Cypress Inn has been making waves with its ideal location on Carmel beach, next-level service, and a guest list that’s included all varieties of royalty from kings and queens to Hollywood hotshots. But in the mid-80s, when Doris Day—yes, the actress, singer, and well-known animal rights activist—took over co-ownership of the inn, it added pet-friendly trailblazer to its long list of accolades. Today, guests are welcome to bring up to 3 pups along with them. Should you need it, a list of inn-approved pet sitters is available at reception.

Pet Policy: $30/night for one pet, $50/night for two pets, or $70/night for three pets

Kimpton Hotel Monaco, Portland, OR

On the spectrum of pet-friendly hotels, the Kimpton brand is one (pleasantly flexible) extreme. With no size, weight, number limit, or fee, and a policy that’s open to all breeds—be they scaly, feathery, or furry—your pets are in good hands. Most properties also have a welcome committee that includes a Director of Pet Relations. In Kimpton Hotel Monaco’s case, that’s Addison, the Goldendoodle who works alongside her mom at the reception desk. Should you need any recommendations on groomers, vets, parks, or primo walking routes, you can always swing by the desk to get Addie’s take. While you’re there, you can also arrange for a masseuse or some time with the hotel’s pet psychic (oh yeah, that’s a thing).

Pet Policy: No size or weight limit, and no fees!

Viceroy L'Ermitage Beverly Hills, CA

If you’re a dog in Beverly Hills, chances are you’re living a pretty privileged life. That’s definitely the case, anyways, for pooches staying at the Viceroy L’Ermitage Beverly Hills. Check-in includes a welcome cookie, glamorous suites are equipped with plush custom doggie beds and turn-down treats, and spa services can be arranged via Healthy Spot at the blink of an eye (or wag of a tail). For days when a walk and a good belly rub just aren’t enough, you can treat your pup to a blueberry facial, moisturizing paw rub, keratin treatment, or blowout.

Pet Policy: one dog per room (up to 40 lbs.) for $150/stay (50% of which is donated to Wags and Walks, a local adoption center and community that works to support and promote shelter dogs)

The Little Nell, Aspen, CO

If your furball also happens to be a foodie, then this is the place for them. The Little Nell caters to high-class eaters with an array of “epicurean treats” and “canine delights.” On the menu is a meal of carrots, brown rice, scrambled eggs, and your pick of local ground beef, grilled chicken, or grilled salmon. If your puppy has any trouble adjusting to Aspen’s altitude, the hotel offers jet-lag kits to help them rally, and a dedicated Canine Concierge is also always on-call to arrange pet-sitting, walking, or feeding for days when mom and dad are on the slopes.

Pet Policy: $25/night and an initial $125 cleaning fee

Topnotch Resort, Stowe, VT

Stowe’s Topnotch Resort has been a stalwart on the pet-friendly scene since opening in 1958. It doesn’t hurt that the hotel’s locale—120 acres of pure Green Mountain landscape—lends itself well to outdoor (and totally pet-approved) activities like hiking, biking, and sightseeing. Most common areas are fair doggie game: pups are welcome to socialize on the patio, stretch out in front of the enormous living room fireplace, mull around the tea room, or nap on hotel-provided fleece beds in the comfort of their own room. If you want to go the extra mile for your canine companion, you can even arrange an in-room Reiki massage.

Pet Policy: there’s a $50 per pet/night fee
