The best of all worlds!

I was a bit apprehensive when we selected this hotel after we found that our first choice (another scandic hotel) was sold out. We were travelling as a big group - my whole family and we wanted to be sure our young kids and grandma would be as comfortable as we wanted them to be. And I am a clean freak so i knew with a historic hotel that might be an issue. But Boy was i wrong! The only reason i am giving 4 stars is because there was no computer office or amenites like a pool etc.

Otherwise, this was a fantastic hotel - one of my favorites as a matter of fact, and ive been to a few! First the rooms were amazing! We had booked upgrade rooms (we had 3) and they were all perfect, i loved the uniqueness of the spaces as each room was just a bit different in layout, look etc. Our rooms overlooked the courtyard which was just so peaceful. The bells in the square rang every hour and we loved it, felt it added to the charm of the location and no one in our group had any issue with it. The rooms were spotless! The kids went nuts over the extra wide hallways! they were not bored 'exploring' the hallways. The bathroom was spacious and soo clean....with 4 kids ranging from 1 to 7 in the rooms this was important. Bed was comfortable and even though the fridge in the rooms were tiny, they were enough for us (esp since a lot of hotels in europr dont even have one). Then there is the breakfast - lots of choice for the kids and the staff was great - even when it was chaotic. They had pancakes for the kids that they also offered (for the picky ones). - breakfast was much more appreciated esp with everything extra expensive in Copenhagen.

The location was probably the best part - because i tend to need space, i woudl normally go for the suburbs but wow everything was perfect here. Right smack dab in the centre and we found we were able to walk to a lot of the attractions. Shops and restaurants all within minutes of each other, including a couple of supermarkets and a Seven eleven, Mcds, KFC and burger king (for those that crave junk ). Also teh central station subway was only about 5 mins walk from the hotel - train ride to the airport was about 15 mins?

So if you can get a room here - highly suggest you stay here. Just note that there are no amenities.

A lot of history. Perfect

Location, location, location!

Great hotel within walking distance to museums and to Amalienborg, Rosenborg Castle, etc and near the famous pedestrian streets. You can walk to the canals and see the boats go by. Or go to Nyhavn and have a great lunch or dinner. There is so much to do in Copenhagen! …and this hotel offers the opportunity of being in the middle of almost everything just by stepping out. It’s in front of City Hall Square so walking to Tivoli is 5 minutes of a pleasant, easy walk. Around 10 AM and also in the afternoon, free walking tours are offered in the square. (The guides use colorful umbrellas so you may identify them. Ask to join the free walking tour and that’s it. Great walking tour. Offered in Spanish and English). Many restaurants nearby also. Of course, hotel calls a taxi if you need it. Buses abound also.

The hotel itself is beautiful outside and inside. Our room was modern, cozy and very comfortable. Bathroom was separated from the room only by a glass door. Not much of a division between room and bath. Blackout curtains made the room very suitable for falling asleep.

Breakfast is included in the price of the room. …and it was a really good breakfast. Breads, cheeses, juices, eggs, coffee, crispy cucumbers, hams, etc. Excellent breakfast! Met Maryanne, she works in the restaurant, and quickly and very amiable found a place for everyone. …she was great!

Perfectly located

The Scandic Palace is a comfortable hotel popular with tour groups that enjoys an ideal location in the heart of Copenhagen. The excellent free walking tour meets at City Hall just 100 steps away. The entrance to Tivoli Gardens is just 2 blocks away. This makes it especially convenient to take advantage of Tivoli’s two day pass and return just in time for a particularly interesting show or activity.

Historical building, excellent location, modern amenities
Reviewed 2 weeks ago

It's always tricky choosing a hotel within a historical building, since you never know if the interior is modernized. The interior of this hotel is modernized.

We requested a slightly larger room from our original one that overlooks a courtyard. The slightly larger room overlooks, well, not much but other buildings and a small street or alleyway. To be honest, we didn't care about the view so much. By contrast, for a time of the year when the sunrise is 4:30 am and sunset is 9:45 pm, the blackout curtains were available at our room and most welcome.

The location of this hotel is excellent for walkers. It's close to the central train station, Tivoli, and Glyptoteket. It's an easy walk to all of the main sights (Christiansborg, Amalienborg, Nyhavn, Rosenborg). For those with difficulty walking, the bus stops are close by as well.
