How to Get There
The breakfast was very sparse. What was there was of nice quality, but there was not much choice at all. No juices in example, almost no fruit, vegetables.
The tv in the room is of very poor quality (which however did not bother us personally).
There are no shelves or any storage room in the bathroom.
No coffee maker or water cooker in the room which should most certainly be standard equipment.
I am not a Danish meteorologist but from what I gather, rain is not exactly a rare event here. So if offering a “superior room with terrace” at a higher price than a regular room, it would make sense to provide some sort of small awning over the terrace so that one could actually use it. And mosquito nets in the windows and terrace doors are an absolute must here. The terrace furniture does not have any pillows and is VERY uncomfortable.
Upon our booking we notified the hotel it’d be our wedding night. None of the staff however as much as acknowledged it, which was a bit disappointing. Especially as the day before we brought over a group of 20 members of family for a big celebratory wedding lunch. We have stayed in many 5star boutique hotels and it is usually the personal touches that make the experience extraordinary - here though the stay was entirely devoid of such. The staff in the restaurant was SIGNIFICANTLY more professional friendly and attentive than in the reception.
On the plus side:
The property is extraordinary and the grounds are breathtaking.
The bartender Seol (sp?) is a truly fantastic asset to your hotel - world-class cocktails, professionalism, friendly and genuine attentiveness.
We stayed here two nights as part of a bike trip through Denmark/Sweden. The grounds are lovely and the main building is attractive. The rooms are sub par, and bathrooms completely sub - standard. It is impossible to shower and get ready for the day in such a small dimly lit bathroom. In addition the sink is unusally low. Service is poor. One night the turn down service happened and another the person responsible left early and did not complete all the rooms, so we were left without clean towels. The person at the front desk was very helpful and managed to bring them in between her other responsibilities. Dinner was average at best but the breakfast was very good. Recommend staying here only one night if at all.
Beautiful, peaceful, and quite: this really sums up our experience at the Kokkedal Castle. We came across this hotel quit randomly as we had to cancel one of the stops in our 7-stop trip; turned ou, this is by far the best stop in our trip. The place is just beautiful and the staff cannot be more friendly.
