How to Get There
As I had spent a wonderful spring-week in this hotel, I decided to come back just before winter would arrive and spent the last open week here. Staff was still alert, even though some were tired, all were friendly and the location still is perfect (for me - I rent a bike and I'm happy).
Even though that was the case, I was quite surprised that all of a sudden I had to pay extra for the 2nd/3rd etc. cappuccino or espresso at breakfast, because that was all included in April. As it always took some time for the coffee to arrive, so I wondered if the reason for that was a capacity-issue or..?! It seemed to be, but isn't that a bit of a cheap solution for a 5-* Boutique hotel?!
When I arrived home later and started to wonder whether to come back here this year (2019), I checked the hotel prices and -conditions, and noticed that it's not an adults-only hotel anymore from now on (>12years allowed) and the prices went up again significantly, some 10%-15%. I think that is a good reason to go somewhere else, also because there is a brand-new adults only (18+) hotel next door, the Lango hotel, with excellent facilities for a more competitive price!
We booked last minute looking for somewhere with good weather where we could relax and we were delighted with Aqua Blu. The staff are all welcoming and friendly and on arrival we immediately felt settled.
Our room was in the basement but had large patio doors out to our own dive pool, perfect for cooling off, so we spent a lot of time relaxing there on our own sun lounger. There are five other suites in a line of these pool suites but it still feels very special and the patio areas are very private. The main pool is also lovely and we spent a bit of time in it. We opted to hire bikes (the hotel arranged) and cycled up to town most days for lunch or dinner which took 10 minutes to the marina.
We also cycled the other way once and found a lovely little restaurant about 30 minutes away which was outside under vines.
We ate several times in the hotel, dinner and lunch and enjoyed the various menus, their BBQ is on once per week and is to be recommended. Breakfast offers extensive choice and again lovely settings.
Over all this hotel deserves its status as a small luxury hotel of the world, the service, location and fittings mean it is a perfect getaway.
Stayed at the Aqua Blu at the beginning of October. A great hotel, as other reviews have said. Very peaceful hotel, ideal for a relaxing break. Used the Spa area and had some very relaxing treatments.
Staff all very helpful and friendly, but Athena on reception stood out. Also gave us lots of good restaurant tips in Kos Town and guidance when we decided to go for a day trip to Turkey. Pool towels available from reception.
Out & about, it was the end of season so was fairly quiet. Town and harbour were a good 25 min walk, or a Taxi was 7 euros. Main road to town also has cycle path and bike hire shops are plentiful.
This was our fourth visit to the Aqua Blu, we have enjoyed our visits so much. The Management and all Staff are always lovely and pleasant and go out of their way to make their visitors welcome. The rooms are clean and light and the beds very comfortable. Breakfast is deliciuos, so much choice and also an extra menu available for yet more choice. I am sure we will be back for our fifth visit very soon.
Really enjoyed our stay in October the staff really go out of there way to make your holiday relaxing you are always greeted with genuine smiles and offers of help I can’t say I have experienced better service when we arrived we were greeted by the manager who had surprised us with upgrading our room to a pool experience!!! Amazing room yes the bathroom is open plan like the previous reviewer has said but surely if your a couple sleeping together you shouldn’t be shy to see your partner not that you need to as the bathroom area is separated by a wall the glass door again! Why would you be bothered if your partner is in there it is very large and bedding area is separate it’s contemporary and stylish!
Breakfast is amazing and adequate times and again amazing service they refil your coffee tea and orange juice you are looked after like a royal person!
Can’t understand why the last reviewer couldn’t get out of bed before 1030 you were told the times you wouldn’t enter a shop at 530 if it was closing! At 530! Hotel is kept immaculately clean! Loved our time at aqua blu and will be coming to see you in October 2019
