How to Get There
Situated on the outskirts of Kos Town on Lambi beach suited us very well, we could either walk or cycle into town.
The hotel it’s self is nice enough but for me just not quite making the 5 star it is supposed to be.
The pool area is, clean with comfortable loungers. The pool itself is unheated and in October was chilly to say the least.
Service at the pool was hit and miss.
The rooms or suites as the hotel classes them are spacious. The bathrooms are only just adequate. Many have over bath showers, you then have all of the inconvenience of stepping in etc and the shower controls are situated at the back, so you end up getting wet turning the shower on.
The room we mainly occupied had a walk in shower that was a bit better, however the rest of the bathroom was badly planned with little or no storage.
Breakfast was adequate with variable service
The fine dining restaurant was good but not enough to entice me back more than once.
Lunch and dinner at the other restaurant was okay. The portions on some of the dishes were small.
Service in the hotel was variable, there were one or two very good, helpful and organised waiting staff. The rest of the waiting staff (there was plenty of them) were disorganised resulting in the hit and miss service.
The reception staff with the exception of one person I found to be extremely helpful, pleasant and professional.
The spa treatments were good. There is an extra charge to use the pool and spa area unless you have a treatment booked. This was expensive and not what I would expect from a supposed 5 star hotel.
The hotel is cat free which is a refreshing change when Kos itself is over run with them.
from our arrival the staff was first class and lunch on the terrace was very enjoyable while waiting our room. Not 5star rooms but very clean and a pleasant view from the balcony with a side sea view towards the beach where there was plenty of sunbeds available for us to use although i did prefer the pool area for sunbathing. 20 minutes walk to the town for restaurants although a few good places for food or a beer on the walk. breakfast was enjoyable although quite a limited selection but i believe its the staff that make this hotel in my opinion, reception , restaurants and spa i found everyone very professional. only complaint i would say 8euros for a pint of local lager was bit pricey
Unfortunately our holiday was cancelled due to our travel agency going into liquidation a week before staying at the Aqua Blue. We re-booked and asked for our original high room floor with a sea-view which we had paid for. Unfortunately our room was on the ground floor, very underwhelming and in poor condition. We stayed the night as we had travelled from Australia and spoke with Maria the next day. All thanks to Maria she moved us to a much nicer room and is a genuinely lovely lady. If we had stayed in our original room the hotel would have been given 2 star, the food for breakfast was lovely, although some things were lost in translation when ordering. (omelettes) Like other reviews not quite 5* -(especially as its very expensive) no free water in room, bathroom sliding doors didn't fit exactly, shower was standing in the bathtub and had to wait for room to be made up on 2 days until 3pm. Overall Maria and the staff were friendly and polite and the hotel is spotlessly clean which makes an enormous difference. Location good, local bus to old town and beach (although not like a beach in Oz lol) has comfortable sunbeds and a view of Turkey over the way. Would we go back. No.
