A fuss-free resort with private beach, freshwater pool, tennis courts and beach volleyball in northwest Kos

The Lowdown

The modern seafront Ammos Resort boasts a private section of beach, a large freshwater pool set within beautiful gardens, a sweeping sun terrace, tennis courts and beach volleyball to burn off your Greek cuisine indulgences, and spacious, bright rooms for an easy night’s sleep.
Undoubtedly one of Greece’s most popular Dodecanese islands, you can discover a different side to Kos on the tranquil northwest coast. See raw natural wonders by diving through crystalline waters, or explore the island’s ancient ruins, castles, temples and churches via newer bike-only routes or by car. Be sure to stop off at local fish restaurants that populate the coastline and eat fresh, salty fare straight from the sea.

Hotel very good. Staff very pleasant and helpful.Entertainment good.Stay most enjoyable, but would not for any reason book another day trip with Python Tours whose rep frequents the resort searching for victims. My daughter and I were left abandoned at the harbour in Kos town after a trip to Bodrum. I have received no satisfaction to my complaint from the hotel or Python Tours.

Relaxing time away

We were greeted by a mature gentleman late at night (flight delayed) who could not do enough for us. The hotel had organised sandwiches and fruit to be in the room because of the late arrival. Room cleaned every day with fresh linen and towels. Very clean hotel. It was the hotels last few days of the season so the hotel was fairly quiet but they still supplied the full all inclusive service and more. All inclusive finishes on your check out day at 12 However, even though the hotel was closing for the winter they put on a early lunch for all the guests leaving to catch their flights home on the hotels last day of the season. Excellent customer service. Yannis (probably spelt wrong) on the outside bar was a very charming young man who went out of his way to make sure the guests were happy. Lovely view from room 325. No complaints about the food. We saw a lot of guests abusing the all inclusive by putting one of everything on their plates (far too much to actually eat) and then not eating it. It’s probably these guests who complained about lack of choice on previous reviews.

We stayed at the Ammos Resort last week in October . We were very disappointed with this hotel . The room itself was ok, but our double bed was to single beds pushed together !! The cupboards/drawers smelt , which left the same foosty smell lingering on our clothes . There was a disgusting sewerage smell continuously along with a very strong smell of urine in the bathroom even after the room being cleaned . The food...... very poor , not much of a selection , or appetising . It was cold every night even after numerous guests complaining . The all inclusive package was very poor on snacks , the only thing available was a toastie , stale cake and fruit covers in flies at the pool bar .
The gym .... what a joke , there was a running machine and a bench press in a small room .
The only positive thing about Ammos resort were the staff , everyone was friendly and if needed, very helpful.

Little touches could make it better

Food in the hotel was pretty much the same every night. It was also cold. Several guest had complained but it remained cold. One couple complained at reception and were told if you tell me at the beginning of the holiday we can do something about it. We then witnessed the receptionist having words with one member of the restaurant staff in view of guests? BBQ night consisted of spare ribs and chicken wings - not much meat. Our best meal of the week was at the beach hut at Luvly Beach just up the road, fantastic meal and nice family.
The all inclusive bar ran out of some spirits and shut at 11:30 pm, it is also outside, there is no inside bar, which when the weather is bad is not good.
The snacks for all inclusive are pretty much non existent - should see what the other local hotel have on offer!
Guests are given a water bottle on arrival and are expected to fill it themselves for the rest of the week
Could do with additional pillows on the bed.
Sun loungers are very uncomfortable and no cushioning on them.
Entertainment was pretty much non existent.
The restaurant and bar staff are very friendly.
Web site also says restaurants - there is only one restaurant.

Friendly and relaxed holiday

Great hotel close to the airport with views over the sea. The room was comfortable and the ensuite facilities more than adequate. The food was particularly good with a wide variety available for both lunch and dinner. The bar staff, restaurant staff and receptionists were all very friendly and helpful. I'd like to particularly mention George, Frank, Maria, Marina, Adrian, Eleftheria and Eleni in the restaurant, Kristina in reception and Yannis at the pool bar. They make a wonderful team and are a tribute to Olga the manager.
