How to Get There
We've been to the Mayan Riviera three times over 15 years and stayed at all inclusive resorts each time. The TRS Yucatan was the best. In fact it wasn't really close. But more about that later.
First, a big shout out to the butlers at Villa 68, Raquel, Naella, and Fatima. You guys are the best. It's people like you who make the TRS what it is. When we come back, it will be because of you.
Food here was great. Lots of a la carte restaurants, a few hybrid buffet/a la carte places and 4 large buffets (Because it's part of the massive Palladium resort, you have access to every restaurant they have on the property.) Never had a bad meal and had many really good ones, exceptional ones by resort standards. Along those lines, go to the Chic Cabaret show. Unless you are just hopelessly jaded you will be glad you did.
TRS is down on a rocky point (there is a beautiful beach up north on the resort) and the views are amazing. It has a great pool area with a multi-level infinity pool and a salt water pool where you can swim with the tropical fish that come in from the ocean.
The room was amazing. It had every amenity you can imagine and if you needed anything else one of the butlers would get it. We faced the jungle and you could get up early and watch the coati and agouti calling it a night (or is it calling it a day if you are nocturnal?).
We check out tomorrow, but I wanted to put this in before we left. I mighte edit it later because there is so much good about this place that I don't want to forget anything.
This was a great time coming at a great time.
Thanks to you all.
I previously gave TRS a scathing review due to Racoons outside our room during our August 2018 girls trip.
After some back and forth, TRS offered complimentary nights in order to change our impression.
Our “ do- over” trip was last week and it was awesome. Assistant Director Roxana Alveraz made sure that had an improved experience!
Our (day) butler Fatima was nice and our (evening) butler Racquel was awesome!
It was evident that there were overt and small personal touches incorporated into our stay to assure we walked away with a better perspective than last time.
As hotels are in the hospitality business, this was appreciated.
We would surely stay there again if/when traveling back to Mexico.
We just returned from one week at TRS Yucatan Hotel celebrating our anniversary and we are wishing we booked for two weeks.
From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. Marcos our butler showed us features of the room (being able to order room service on your tv was one of our favs). We had champagne waiting for us and he let us know to come see him for dinner reservations. Beds were comfortable and rooms felt very modern.
The next morning I saw Marcos for reservations we heard great things about chic. He already got us a table booked (wow) and then we booked the rest of our meals. The Italian restaurant was my favourite I had fried octopus and squid ink pasta. All the restaurants at trs are a la carte and you feel like you are in a high class restaurant when you go. Great service and was nice to have a wine list. Helios offers a buffet for breakfast and lunch but you can honestly do the whole trip every meal a la carte if you want.
Chic is a must see if you go. So much talent it is not your regular resort show. The singers were phenomenal and we enjoyed a 5 course meal while we watched the performance. We loved it.
Every morning I would walk to Helios and enjoy my coffee while looking at the ocean. So relaxing. We spent a lot of time at the infinity pool—- the hotel should really advertise this more because it is stunning.
We did a couples massage at the spa. They offer massages on the beach for cheaper but the spa was nice because of all the features and it was nice and Cool inside. After our massage we had private jacuzzi and champagne and chocolate covered strawberries.
Being part of trs meant you could go to the other resorts. There is lots to explore. Colonial has the sports bar to play pool and we got to order pub food and enjoy the air conditioning. We also heard colonial had a foam party we missed out on but sounded fun. The resort next door grand sands has the gift shop and is easy walking distance. We went there one evening to listen to music in the lobby it was busier than our resort.
Evenings had live music we could sit and listen. There was a nice bar outside to grab drinks.
I found our resort perfect for relaxing. Definitely not a party resort but you have options in the neighboring resorts. It was super romantic and the service was always amazing.
At chic and multiple restaurants we were wished a happy anniversary and even one night we came back to our room and there were rose petals and champagne. It made us feel very special.
We tipped as much as we could and found they really appreciated it. They work so hard and if we tipped the butler or the room service we always came to fridge over full with beer (we would request).
Highly recommend this resort we cannot wait to come back. I wish I remembered more names to recognize the staff but everyone we dealt with was phenomenal.
We have enjoyed the Grand Palladium White Sand twice in the past 4 years and chose to upgrade to TRS Yucatan this year. As expected, the resort was excellent and we enjoyed every day of our vacation. Difficult to add something new to all the positive reviews but here are some observations:
We observed that the week we were there the majority of our fellow guests were "Millennials" - not "baby boomers" like ourselves.
We booked the Junior Suite (newly refurbished) without the private pool. We asked for an received the top (3rd) floor. This meant quite a few steps up (no elevator) but the exercise was welcome and our balcony was at treetop level instead of ground level. The room is very modern, comfortable, nicely decorated and sleek. Lights are all automatic and the Bose radio could be linked to our IPhone. However be aware that the bathroom/bedroom/living room is open plan with no privacy at all. Only the toilet and shower have dark glass partitions. The two sinks are remarkable - large round white deep porcelain bowls at least 18 inches deep.
We discovered that the included "butler" service was very useful, The butler station is on the ground floor. The butlers were eager to help with all our little needs and requests including restaurant reservations, special amenities, transfer confirmations and more. Angelica and Blanca in particular made our stay pleasant and memorable.
The infinity pool is beautiful but it has very limited shade and it does get crowded. After failing to find a lounge chair on the first day, we had to resort to claiming a space with towels before 8AM as did most other guests. On the other hand the White Sand main pool always had a surplus of chairs and nice shady and quiet spaces for everyone.
The a-la-carte restaurants were all excellent - the quality of the food was exceptional and better than any other resort or cruise ship we have experienced. We enjoyed Helios , La Boheme (French), Tentazione (Italian) and of course the Chic Cabaret dinner and show. We also ate at other restaurants in the Grand Palladium sections - Portofina (Italian - recommend asking for an outside table on the terrasse as it is quiet and romantic). Also we enjoyed Chang Thai and the Poseidon beach restaurant (in a tent beside the ocean - great ambiance but the quality of the food there is a bit disappointing).
Helios serves breakfast and lunch as well as dinner. Even if you want to sit at an outside table, be sure to first check in with the hostess inside. Just sitting at a table on the outside patio will result in no service. We and several others made this mistake on the first day.
The resort is huge and we enjoyed walking everywhere - all the way to the flamingos and crocodiles near the Kantenah lobby. However there are lots of golf carts that offer rides to any location you wish. Some carts are reserved for "TRS Guests only".
All the resort staff were pleasant, hard-working and very accommodating. The grounds are beautiful and spectacular.
We would love to return again.
P.S. we booked last minute on the Grand Palladium website and got a nominal 10% discount - also a free (shared van) transfer from Cancun airport. It was good value considering the quality of the all-inclusive resort.
This was my first visit to a Palladium property, and the TRS resort was out of this world. I took advantage of the ebutler services, and had filled out my wish list in advance. Thank you so much Cynthia Yadira Gonzalez for your hard work, and attention to detail in accommodating all requests on the wish list.
We met our butler the following day, Yari, who was amazing our whole holiday. She showed us how everything in the room worked, got us set up on whatsApp to communicate during our stay for restaurant bookings etc. We met Christian a few nights later who also took care of anything we needed, also quite amazing.
We ate at Helios every morning, and some lunches. Luis, and Enrique always took care of us.They truly went above, and beyond. The food at all the restaurants is outstanding, minus the steak. Its prepared well, but when your used to eating AAA Alberta beef, Mexican beef does not compare. But that's just personal preference, hardly a complaint.
The drink selections are vast, there is a drink for everyone i'm sure. If you want your margarita made with Don Julio, just ask! The grounds, the pools, music, it was all just so perfect. So well manicured, beautifully maintained. The beach section for TRS was also a nice touch.
I had a private dinner on the beach arranged for my girlfriends birthday, they picked us up, and drove us to our spot on the beach. We were beyond impressed with guitar/ singers, the food, and service. Was worth the extra cost.
What else can i say that hasn't already been said. All staff here work so hard, and cant do enough to please you. We truly enjoyed tipping everyone. Please remember to bring some USD $1 & $5. Stay away from the room service. Its the only disappointment really, the food quality is quite sub par compared to everything else you will eat. We did give it a couple tries in case it was a one off..... it wasn't. We did some excursion but didn't use a tour company, talked to a bellhop who hooked us up with a private driver for the day. 7hrs air conditioned van drove us to where we wanted to go, and waited til we returned. $170USD + tip. Room 7212 perfect romance bungalow.
We will be back, greatest holiday/resort yet!
