Overview

Contemporary island getaway perched on a white sand beach

The Lowdown

Situated on arguably the best beach on the laid-back island of Isla Mujeres, this 124-room resort is a great microcosm of the island itself; Isla Mujeres is all about chilling at the beach and picking from a plethora of great local restaurants. On the property, there’s the white-sand beach of Playa Norte, an expansive pool area for maximum relaxation, Spa Mystique for massages and treatments based on ancient rituals, and three restaurants: the elegant beachfront Café del Mar, Sabor serving up local fare, and Satay, which specializes in Thai and Oriental food. The resort offers all-inclusive or breakfast-only plans so guests can indulge as much or as little as they want.

In the Area

Less than five miles long, Isla Mujeres is just a short ferry ride from Cancun. Its location floating in the Caribbean Sea makes it a dream for snorkeling, kayaking, or swimming with the dolphins at Garrafon Natural Reef Park. Come evening, stroll Hidalgo Ave or Guerrero Ave to check out the local nightspots—La Adelita is a popular favorite.

Amazing again...
Reviewed 3 days ago

This is our 2nd visit and again it was amazing, probably even better than the 1st because we have become more familiar with the resort and the island. 1st visit was Nov 2017 and we choose a honeymoon suite with bed & breakfast plan because we weren’t sure of the food. 2nd visit was Nov 2018 and we choose a honeymoon suite with all-inclusive plan and so glad we did.

Location: is ideal. It is a short walk or taxi from the ferry, within walking distance of the north beach and close to Hidalgo street where you will find shopping, restaurants and nightlife. We used USA Transfers for our transportation to and from the airport and the ferry ride on both trips and were happy with them.

Food: is very good. Breakfast buffet in the Sabor restaurant has many options. The Beach Club restaurant also serves breakfast, reservation only and al a carte. Lunch is either at the pool bar & grill serving burgers, hot dogs, chicken wings, fries, etc OR the Beach Club menu which includes arrachera steak, shrimp tacos & kabobs, chicken wings and many other options, all very delicious. Our favorites are the arrachera steak, chicken wings, surf & turf kabobs, skinny french fries and guacamole. Dinner is either at the Beach Club with nightly themes or Satay, Thai/Asian, and reservation only. Room service is also very good.

Rooms: are clean and spacious. We choose the honeymoon suite and also upgraded to the 4th floor which provided an amazing view. It was cleaned daily to perfection and the fridge was restocked as well. Upon arrival we found a bottle of champagne and plate of chocolates in our room. Not sure if it was because we had the honeymoon suite or because we were return visitors, either way it was a nice little touch that goes a long way. We are picky about our beds but these were extremely comfortable. Our patio included a jacuzzi tub, two lounge chairs and two patio chairs with a small table.

Staff: are extremely hard working, friendly and very accommodating. Just to mention a few: Jesus and Jaime at the front desk, Samuel and Sergio at the pool bar, Rosa was our maid and there were many others I just can’t remember their names. The security staff also does a very good job at monitoring the property and assisting guests.

Golf Cart: we rented through the front desk, $70 for 24 hours. They will provide you a map and give you tips on where to go. It was a great experience as you get to see the island and we visited Soggy Peso, Punta Sur, The Joint, Oscar’s for pizza and garlic knots, and Captain Dulche’s. All were worth the trip and would definitely return.

This is a quieter, adult orientated property with daytime pool gathering and nightly music entertainment at the Beach Club. It is not a late night party crowd, which is ideal for us. I am disappointed that it is moving to adults-only in 2019. Although it is adult orientated, I would have liked to bring my younger family members and would have considered it an upcoming wedding venue, but the adults-only change has now completely removed that option. The Spa and Gym are nice features.

Pro’s: as you can see from the above there are many and we hope to return.

Con’s: the only two things I can mention as suggestions are 1) please consistently serve the skinny french fries, it was inconsistent, sometimes when ordering we would receive the thicker, jo-jo style fries, prefer the skinny; and 2) reconsider the adults-only policy change.

Nothing short of Paradise

The rooms, the pools, the beach, the staff, the drinks, the beach cafe, the grounds...all perfection. We have been 6 years in a row now. We don’t plan on going anywhere else, for a while. Do yourself a favor and stay here!!

K, might hurt in the long run however, this place is a must! Hotel, location, staff are awesome, period. This is laid back Mexico the way it should be. Do Cancun but do it here.
Will further review at end of vacation. View from room 628.

5th visit. As good as ever

5th trip to Isla, 5th stay at PA. The Hotel and more especially the staff exceeded expectations as usual. Rooms always clean, grounds are kept Immaculate. Food above average for an All Inclusive, did notice small menu changes and my one small complaint is the food seemed a bit saltier than previous visits. I can't stress enough the Stars of PA are without a doubt the staff they are stellar!!! From the minute I got about 100 yards from the front door Greeted by Jamie who always remembers my wife and I, to the quick and easy check in process(room wasn't ready but we expected that we arrived a bit early) Henry was the Housekeeper for our room I dare you to find someone who would do a better job, you will search for a long time. Sergio at the pool bar, always a friendly hello and could always spare a minute for a quick chat. Riccardo at breakfast, never had to ask for coffee or a drink he was always ready for us and knew what we wanted. We spent most of our time on the beach and everyday we sat about as far away from the bar as you could. Pasquale the security guard took me by surprise by remembering my name from our previous trip, but the part that stood out to my wife and I the most for a 2nd time was Alex on the Beach. Alex is a flat out ROCKSTAR for this hotel. The management of PA should be so proud and even more thankful for their great staff, But I have to say Alex was the shining star. We are so happy to have met him and proud to call him a friend. We will be back in February to celebrate my wife's birthday. We are already counting down the days.

There are many enjoyable things about this hotel The location, the beach, the great people who serve clients in the hotel. I think we go back mainly for the restaurant on the beach where service and food at breakfast and lunch can't be beat. The beach is lovely.
So here are my suggestions to improve the overall experience. The dinner menu sounds good but is really not that good. The lunch menu on the beach is excellent and tasty. I wish the dinner menu could be better, maybe more of a local flair. The dining room in the hotel is so brightly lit at night that it feels clinical. It's a typical buffet, but it could have a little ambiance.
We noticed more groups of loud drunk people on this visit. I don't know what you do about that.
