Contemporary island getaway perched on a white sand beach

The Lowdown

Situated on arguably the best beach on the laid-back island of Isla Mujeres, this 124-room resort is a great microcosm of the island itself; Isla Mujeres is all about chilling at the beach and picking from a plethora of great local restaurants. On the property, there’s the white-sand beach of Playa Norte, an expansive pool area for maximum relaxation, Spa Mystique for massages and treatments based on ancient rituals, and three restaurants: the elegant beachfront Café del Mar, Sabor serving up local fare, and Satay, which specializes in Thai and Oriental food. The resort offers all-inclusive or breakfast-only plans so guests can indulge as much or as little as they want.

In the Area

Less than five miles long, Isla Mujeres is just a short ferry ride from Cancun. Its location floating in the Caribbean Sea makes it a dream for snorkeling, kayaking, or swimming with the dolphins at Garrafon Natural Reef Park. Come evening, stroll Hidalgo Ave or Guerrero Ave to check out the local nightspots—La Adelita is a popular favorite.

Horrible service. Cemetery views
Reviewed 3 hours ago

1. The entire staff here acts like their guests are out to get them. From the 3pm check in, horrible attitudes, everything is a hassle. Lose your towel card they won't give you towels. No wrist band they charge a fee, customer is always wrong if they stay at this hotel. Food quality average to poor and slow service. The all inclusive option is a waste of money here and if you're lucky you'll get a cemetery view. Avoid this hotel. I'd pay double at zoetry hotel in a heart beat. Expect 2 more reviews from my other friends who booked the same time.

Awesome hotel, great staff

A year later and we still talk about how much we loved staying at Privilege Aluxes.

We came to Isla Mujeres after five days in Cancun (took the ferry) and arrived at the hotel before our designated check-in time. The staff welcomed us and held onto our luggage while we spend the afternoon out on the beach. When we checked in, the receptionist asked if we were celebrating anything in particular (we were on a trip to celebrate my girlfriend finishing law school). By the time we arrived in our room later that afternoon, it had been decorated with rose petals and towel swans - what a phenomenal welcome!

The property was beautiful, but we barely spent anytime by the pool. We spent most of the time we were there out on the beach, specifically on the beach cabana/daybeds. It was the perfect spot! The bathrooms near the bar are super convenient so you don't have to return to the hotel building during the day. We did get some peddlers throughout the day, but didn't really find it annoying. (We actually bought fruit from them a couple times.) The only downside of the beach was the trash boat that passed by occasionally. The smell from this was really terrible, but passed fairly quickly once the boat was gone.

Our room included breakfast which was awesome! We ate at the buffet one morning and out at the beach bar another. I really liked that breakfast included mimosas and other drinks for ordering. The food was good - nothing too memorable, but we enjoyed it. This also kept us full enough for most of the day that we saved money on lunch- nice bonus!

The room was clean and comfortable - great size and the bathroom was huge too!

We really enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to come back on a future trip to Isla Mujeres.

We stayed for 3 nights

Wish we didn’t have to leave we loved every part of our stay

All inclusive is really good value food and drinks were great there was nothing off the menu except some wine other then that you could have as much or as little of anything as often as you wanted

Especially the beach club

We spent everyday there all day

Our waiter Alex worked so hard day in day out he made our time amazing and can’t wait to come back

The beach pros/cons
They have full time security keep hawkers selling stuff away so you don’t get hassled

The seats and cabanas have good room around them so your not sitting on top of each other

Water was amazing

They don’t blast music at you all day.

Nothing bad to say

Can’t wait to come back

Love hotel, beautiful suite, great food

We loved our stay. The service was the best that you can imagine. Smiling waiters, that never kept you waiting. Breakfast had incredible variety. The food was fresh and delicious. On the water, we enjoyed the evening entertainment. We did not book all inclusive, but found that we could book it any day that we desired at the front desk in the morning.

Privileges Hotel

Three days here felt like our own small piece of paradise. We sat looking at the white sandy beach at breakfast and stepped 50 yards onto the beach.
Staff were friendly and helpful and the all inclusive was great value for money.
For me the highlight was stepping off a 10 hour flight and jumping into our own private whirlpool.
Heaven on earth. Very quiet and reasonable prices outside of the hotel. Just stunning.
