Luxe log cabin lodging with a heated outdoor pool and cozy firepits near Jackson’s Town Square

The Lowdown

This mountain town is chock-full of luxe lodgings, but Rustic Inn stands out for its idyllic setting. The inn’s outdoorsy amenities include teepees, a boardwalk that winds above a wetland, creekside swinging benches and multiple firepits. But for all the natural splendor surrounding it, the inn is just five blocks from downtown Jackson and it’s a convenient basecamp for exploring the town’s charms, escaping to Grand Teton or Yellowstone national parks, or shredding Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Well-manicured paths wind around the outdoor heated pool toward Flat Creek and the 28 cozy log cabins. Guestrooms are done in an off-white, maroon and brown palette and accented with plush carpeting, wrought iron light fixtures, leather ottomans, cowboy prints, and dark wood furniture. Their best feature is the private deck, where guests can settle into a swing or Adirondack chair and watch deer, moose and other wildlife wander about. Come morning, fuel up with the extensive full breakfast buffet: fresh pastries, scrambled eggs with basil and cheese, fruit juices, bacon, fresh fruit and yogurt, before heading out.

In the Area

Both Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, a 20-minute drive away, have hiking trails — at least until it starts snowing. Starting in mid-December, take a horse-drawn sleigh ride into the middle of a herd of 8,000 elk at the National Elk Refuge. Elk begin migrating into the refuge, which is literally across the street from the Rustic Inn, as soon as the snow starts to fall. Year-round BrushBuck Guide Services offers half- and full-day wildlife safaris around the valley; you’re likely to see bison, moose, birds of prey, coyotes and, if you’re lucky, wolves and grizzly. The National Museum of Wildlife Art takes a broad view of the genre. The museum’s 5,000-item permanent collection includes the expected Rungiuses, as well as Audubons, and also some Picassos and Maurice Sendaks. Wander over to Jackson’s town square and check out traditional Western and wildlife art at Trailside Galleries, contemporary art at Diehl Gallery, or designer togs at Terra.

The photos and information on their website is very misleading. Although I stayed in April there slow month. The sauna wasn’t working and the jacuzzi was full of leaves. There spa was closed which I was aware of before arriving. But they told me that their sister hotel spa services would be open. They were not open on the days I was in Jackson. Other than the breakfast buffet which is included in the price. No other food was available for lunch and dinners.
The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. They recommended some places in town that I could eat at.
The room I stayed in was very nice. And the bed was extremely comfortable.
I picked this hotel based on the website photos and information. I should have picked a cheaper hotel.

Rustic Inn is a great choice

Just came back from a wonderful week at JH. Rustic Inn did not disappoint. Had sunshine days, spring conditions and greats walks into town.
Pros- great breakfast included. Changed a few items daily. Shuttle service to town bonus (walk is 5-10 minutes). Rooms were clean, good size for our needs, maid service on spot, pool and hot tub great after a long day on the mountain. Shuttle to mountain last stop on way home was a bit long but that the breaks when using shuttle services. Room service was quick and delish. Would recommend and stay again if back in Jackson. Saw a Moose one morning on the walk to breakfast which made the trip

Amazing and friendly

This is a great place to stay...
Helpful and friendly staff willing to help with any request. Amazing wildlife and close enough to city center to make any travel easy.

Shuttle service to and from the airport and city, no rental car needed.

Well worth the trip

Web pics are deceiving

Be careful what room you actually reserve. Creek-side rooms are really the only rooms worthy of online photos. The majority of rooms have views of parking lot, or direct views into other’s rooms. The hotel accommodated our “creek side” request upon arrival, but not without a healthy up change. Third party websites are very deceiving with their photos. The actual location was close to the town square and provided transportation to just about any desired location. Actual rooms were a little small, with small sliding doors to the outside view. Cleanliness was excellent. Pics are of creekside view vs inside view. Many rooms have views of parking lot.

Winter Wonderland

We had an excellent experience at the Rustic Inn. Our family was inconvenienced by several airline delays, but the staff went out of their way to help us every step of the way. The staff was terrific from reception to cleaning services. The rooms are nicely-appointed, large and clean, and the fireplace is a nice amenity on a cold winter day. The resident mule deer herd wandering around the cabins were fun for the family to see every day.

Breakfast buffet was very good. Nice bar; dinner in the restaurant was OK, not exceptional. Shuttle service to/from the airport and ski area is provided and the bus and staff drivers were friendly and very helpful. It's a short walk to town so we walked, although shuttle service is available.

It would be nice to have a small indoor changing area next to the hot tub/sauna, as we all used the sauna to change and store our clothes, as the temperature was in the 1-15 degree Fahrenheit range.

Would love to return in the summer months.
