How to Get There
There were so many nice things about this hotel - location, old world charm, size of the room, friendly staff, restaurants attached to hotel and parking garage. Room was extremely quiet but I noticed several rooms adjacent to ours (605) weren’t guest rooms - maybe being renovated or just used as storage. The room decor was very nice but the bathroom was almost painfully small, with a door that kept banging into the shower curtain bar, and needed a good cleaning. The bathroom was very dusty and dirty grime along the door’s molding. I was surprised the room didn’t have a refrigerator, as it seems to be almost standard these days.
The hotel building itself is an older building with some old world charm. The chandeliers and the elevators invoke an image of days gone by. The staff were very helpful and the check in process was efficient. A little friendly baseball banter with the valet made the trip more enjoyable. The rooms itself, again, a little dated but by no means was it grungy. The room was clean and had an awesome surprise. The surprise was a central room light instead of just the lamps, as it is in most hotels I've stayed at. I will definitely look to stay here again on my next trip.
We stayed for a national convention in July. The rooms have high ceilings and bed was comfortable. The room was quiet and room service available. It's a very large hotel and takes a while to get from your room to meeting rooms or the lobby. The hotel is attached to the convention center. The lobby and meeting rooms are covered in gold leaf and mirrors with many chandeliers. There are two good restaurants in the hotel and a large, elegant bar on the mezzanine level. The concierge was very helpful when my car battery died. He recommended an App I download to my phone. The App was easy to use and in 20 minutes a service arrived and my battery was replaced. The staff was very courteous even when I was agitated because my room key stopped opening the door. Over the course of my four-night stay, my room card needed to be re-keyed eight times. That's the only reason I couldn't give an excellent rating. Otherwise, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone in Milwaukee for business or pleasure.
