Located in Wisconsin’s Kohler Village, one of the first planned communities in the country and named after the pioneering company that produces bathtubs and faucets, the lakeside hotel blends modern-day ambiance and convenience for business and leisure travelers. All 121 rooms feature the signature Kohler shower experience, with multiple fixtures that make every bathroom feel like its own spa. The black-and-white room décor is simple but contemporary: crisp white duvets, upholstered headboards, and white tiled bathrooms. With four championship courses nearby, the hotel is hugely popular with golf enthusiasts, who make up the majority of guests during warm-weather months. A five-star spa, complete with a European-inspired swimming pool and the latest in Kohler fixtures, and sports club that features an indoor pool, racquetball courts, and dozens of classes, round out the amenities.
In the Area
The inn may be a hole-in-one hit with golfers, but travelers of all types will find plenty to keep them busy in Kohler Village, which traces its roots to the early 1900s and is a tourist destination on its own. More than 20 shops and boutiques specialize in men’s and women’s apparel, antiques, and collectibles; there’s also a food market with a demonstration kitchen. Within easy walking distance is the famous Craverie Chocolatier Café, a French-inspired sweet spot with a dizzying selection of exquisite pastries and chocolates: the Original Buttery Terrapin, a delectable mix of chocolate, pecans, and caramel, is a perennial favorite. Snap up some unique, Midwest-inspired souvenirs, like a locally made apron, at The Wisconsin Trader. Wrap up the day with a pint at the Horse and Plow, a historic tavern that was once the watering hole for Kohler Co. workers.
How to Get There
The decor of the American Club is what we refer to as "fuddy duddy" and not our taste. We chose Inn on Woodlake because it has more of a generic decor with muted colors and nothing ornate. There is plenty of complimentary parking out front and there is a small lobby area to sit and wait for friends or shuttle buses. Our room was nice overlooking the lake but nothing fancy. The shower has some fancy Kohler sprayers which seemed to be a little too much. I would have preferred one shower head to place the way I wanted instead of two sprayers on either side of the shower but no biggy. Our room was very quiet as well. The breakfast that is included with the room had many nice choices. It is set up buffet style with wonderful fresh fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, eggs, granola and other cereals as well as an assortment of breads. They also have a variety of beverages and the staff is great about replenishing. The only suggestion I have for the management is that the woodwork on the guest room doors and door jams need to be touched up.
Friends and I went for the Dye-abolical golf package at Whistling Straits. We stayed in one of the new multi-bedroom suites at the Inn. Two bedrooms flanking a central living area with a small kitchenette. At most 15 minutes to Whistling Straits, closer to the Blackwolf Run courses, and closer still to shopping, American Club building with spa and restaurants. Every fixture is Kohler (of course) and it's very modern and comfortable. Beds were twin sized, and this was perfect for accommodating 4 guys. Complementary breakfast in the morning added to the value. It's "only" the 3-star, but it really comes off as much better than that, in my opinion. Definitely a candidate to return.
Nice hotel. The shower is worth coming back again. It really is that nice.Breakfast in the morning is OK.Nothing special. Its a good launching point for golf the next day.You can walk to all the different restaurants for dinner
Two nights at the Inn on Woodlake were included in our Whistling Straights three day golf package. The hotel staff was professional and very helpful with information about the hotel and the Kohler neighborhood. The room was contemporary, clean and convenient. The hotel is close dining and shopping. A birthday gift from the staff was very much appreciated. There is a shuttle to all the golf courses.
If you’re visiting Kohler, plan on a couple of hours to visit the Kohler Design Center.
Went with 2 girlfriends for a quick getaway to Kohler to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Loved the Inn on Woodlake! We stayed in the 2 BR suite and it was perfect. Nice comfy beds and linens and loved the shower of course! The only thing I would add is a rug in the living area. Just to warm it up and give the area some sound absorption. Nice continental breakfast too! Received such amazing service at check out from Katie! She found out that it was my friend’s birthday and quickly gifted her with a bottle of wine and chocolates. She was so nice and friendly. Thank you Katie! So enjoyed the popovers and some tea at The Craverie! Great shopping and service wherever we went. Can’t wait to go back!
