The spectacular views, though, have remained unchanged since the early 20th century, when this Gilded Age summer cottage hosted distinguished guests like Calvin Coolidge, Woodrow Wilson and Theodore Roosevelt.

This historic retreat is all about warm hospitality, attentive service and plenty of peace and quiet. You’re free to get out and explore the five miles of trails of the 200-acre preserve right in front of you or just relax on the picturesque porch with a cup of tea, the Tavern Room with a glass of wine or the Presidential Library with a book. And rooms, each steeped in old-world elegance, total just 17 – meaning that there are never too many other people around, and this sprawling, beautiful estate will almost feel like your own.
Windsor Mansion’s 17 rooms are elegantly adorned in classic decor befitting this historic property. Each accommodation has its own charm and unique style, and all rooms feature an en-suite bathroom, climate control, a homey feel and large windows to let in the sunshine.Rooms 21, 22, 23 and 24, on the second floor, include a show fireplace and are a bit larger than rooms 31, 32, 33 or 34, which are found on the third floor.
Though the inn does not feature a full restaurant, it starts each day with a gourmet breakfast stacked with sweet and savory options. The daily spread includes quiches, muffins, pastries, yogurt and fresh local berries, plus coffee, tea and juice. Tavern Room opens for beer, wine and snacks nightly.
Perched atop Juniper Hill in Windsor Vermont, near the New Hampshire border, the lodge is conveniently located near Interstate 91 for easy connections to Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York.
