The Lowdown

With a neighbor like Windsor Castle, the four-star Macdonald Windsor Hotel certainly scores points for location. Sitting sharp on the main parade, the hotel overlooks the castle grounds and down through the winding streets with their quaint shops and tearooms.
The hotel itself is accommodated within an old townhouse. With a classic design and warm colors, the ambiance is both inviting and therapeutic. Think earthy browns paired with rich creams and homely fabrics, like butter-soft leathers and velvet.
As with all Macdonald hotels, the emphasis is on great service, elegant food and the fantastic location. Windsor is close to London, Ascot and Heathrow Airport, and as it’s on the border of Surrey and Hampshire, it makes for detailed exploration of the home counties surrounding London, alongside being a beautiful destination in its own right.

Short visit to Windsor
Reviewed 2 days ago

Thank you team, we truly loved our room 119, The sapphire room, overlooking Windsor castle with 3 lovely balcony. We had a lovely dinner in Caley's, the burger was delicious, the service attentive and slick Adam was attentive but not intrusive. Breakfast was also good. So overall thank you and looking forward to visit perhaps for an afternoon tea.

First time experience at the hotel

My first experience at the hotel was amazing. The staff, the food and the room itself was all in all perfect. The atmosphere was very relaxing and I felt at home straight away. Me and my boyfriend stayed in the hotel for two nights and had everything we needed in the hotel but if we needed to go to any shops they were just a 2 min walk away in the high street. the 24 hour food service really stood out to us as usually most restaurants in hotels close after a certain time. i would recommend this to any couple or anyone as the hotel welcomes with open arms anyone.

Fabulous hotel, perfect location

We stayed here 2 nights to come and explore beautiful Windsor. Perfect location right across from the castle and couldn’t fault the hotel. The staff were friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. Beautiful entrance hall, we got checked in right away and our room (standard double) was lovely. Spacious with the biggest comfiest bed ever! The extra touches made it special, Nesspresso machine, slippers, Elemis toiletries, robe, big fluffy towels. We enjoyed breakfast in bed which was a lovely touch. We parked at the Windsor & Eton Riverside Station which at only £9 for the whole weekend was a snip! It’s only a 5-6 min walk away from the hotel. Windsor itself was lovely, the castle is a must but lots of lovely pubs, shops, eateries to explore too. Ideal for a relaxed weekend away.
