Proper 5 star service

Shangri-La KL is wonderful. I stayed one of the suites with a beautiful view of the city. Sizeable with a very comfortable bed, an excellent master bath with a TV that I could watch while in the bathtub and another guest toilet. The sitting area with the couches and TV were comfortable as was the study/work desk with everything I needed to work as I was there for a work conference.
I also had access to the club lounge which was fantastic. Almost all fine hotels around the world have one of these nowadays- unfortunately not all of them have the same standard as that at the Shangri La in KL. It has to be experienced- the canapes and wonderful cocktails to the quiet breakfast and views over the KL street.

But I think what sets Shangri La apart from any other hotel is the staff. They are absolutely hands down the most helpful, polite, friendly hotel staff I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Most improtantly, they came across as genuine. This is uncommon in the hotel industry, particularly with the long hours and difficult customers. But the staff here never waivered. They were friendly, remembered my name and even remembered my cocktail at the lounge which was wonderful. I casually mentioned to one of the staff at the lounge that my pillows were uncomfortable after he asked how I slept. It was more of an offhand comment and I thought nothing of it.
I came back to my suite to find a selection of about 7 or 8 pillows to pick from!

So well done Shangri La, I wish I could have stayed longer than a week! I will certainly be back.

The name has a rapport on its own. Can never go wrong with Shangri-la. The service has always been consistent and the upkeep of the rooms and grand lobby amazing. Rooms have a big space the views are spectacular. There is a price to pay for luxury and Shang kl is worth the bill...

Awesome hotel with excellent service

Great hotel with spacious rooms. Excellent service with special mention to Fazali at the front desk for his prompt and friendly service. Great gym facilities and great function rooms. Very nice pasteries at the 2go shop.

Huge gym, great breakfast and the best location

Stayed in this hotel for a couple of nights and I absolutely loved the breakfast selection! So many different foods to choose from, and the chocolate fountains and ice cream bar were big bonuses. :)
The location of the hotel is also very central. It's just a 5-10 min walk from the Petronas towers and KLCC. The staff recommended Madame Kwan's restaurant in KLCC for an authentic Malaysian meal, and that was a great choice!
The room is of a good size with all the amenities needed. Housekeeping keeps the rooms really clean.
I used the gym. It was a large gym with lots of machines. My only recommendation would be to go get more machines for working out abs and the back, as most machines available for other muscles than core muscles.
The staff is very friendly, especially in the lobby bar. I would not hesitate to book again a room in this hotel.

Average at best

Old carpet, outdated room specially bathroom is very poor. Seems they got new taps over basin but water drips outside as tap is shorter in length. No snacks in mini bar! Buffet breakfast is alright but staff is inattentive..failed to bring coffee despite requesting twice..variable staffing standards..had bad experience with some lounge staff n buffet staff! Asked sparkling soda for drink and bar boy poured already opened half empty Un fizzy soda in my drink😐 avoid lounge..family with young kids don’t even think about booking it..may be business travellers from China their primary customers.. disappointing stay after having lovely stay at hard rock hotel in Penang!!!
