Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

Sandals Negril is often lauded for its exceptional cleanliness and vibrant atmosphere, particularly at the Piano Bar where entertainers like Chris and Martel shine. While the resort's location offers stunning views, some guests have noted limited dining options and disruptions from construction. The service, notably the butler care, frequently receives high marks for attentiveness, although opinions on room quality and noise levels vary, with some finding the rooms outdated and the noise intrusive. Despite its beautiful beach and range of activities, the value for money has been a point of contention among travelers.

Prior to traveling, I read some recent reviews of Sandals in Negril that were very negative and created uncertainty for me in my choice of resorts. I have to say there is only one (known) negative for our trip which I will save for the end of review. This was our first trip to Jamaica. Sandals Negril was fantastic vacation for us! Beautiful long beach with lots of thatched umbrellas/huts and additional umbrellas for those of us need a little more shade. We really enjoyed the beautiful sunsets that are uncommon when coming from the east coast. Food and drinks were excellent. Staff provided a very high level of hospitality. Our walkout room was very nice. Very relaxing but still with enough programming for us. We loved our exposure to Jamaican culture and found the vendors who periodically walked along the beach water line added value for us. This was our best Carribean vacation and we will be back. ( The only negative was the 90 minute transfer between the airport and resort).

Hotel's Favorite
Overall, full marks for a wonderful stay. Almost everything was perfect and we will be back. So many things were amazing, which far outweighs any minor negatives. Accommodation Superbly furnished, amazingly comfortable bed and luxurious bathroom. Lovely balcony and view. The housekeeping team made sure our rooms was spotlessly clean every day. Annakay was especially good. Minor downsides - no 240v socket (outlet) as advertised and as is the case at other Sandals and one air conditioning unit would not go very cold even after maintenance had a look at it. Location Stunning, especially the beachfront at sunset. Immaculately well maintained throughout although some areas are showing their age and a refurb is needed. Food/drinks Mostly top quality and faultless. Sundowner (Caribbean) was our favourite restaurant overall. Breakfasts were good but occasionally, there were some items that were not replenished quickly enough. Lunchtime service was quite slow, albeit very friendly. More restaurant options would be welcome in the evenings, especially as we were there for two weeks. Maybe a beach BBQ would be good. We were very disappointed that the dress-code was not enforced in the evenings and guests were wearing beach shorts, sandals and t-shirts at dinner. Drinks are as you would expect at Sandals with top-shelf brands - a nice addition here was having Appleton 15-year-old. Only downside was regularly having to wait far too long to be served as there were never enough servers for the number of guests. The pool bar was understaffed, but a big shout out to Terence whose service was first class – he managed to get through plenty of orders to keep waiting times to a minimum whenever possible. Staff A real asset to the hotel - virtually everyone was amazing in every department. Our butlers (Delroy and Roy) were incredible in every way and nothing was ever too much trouble – we felt like royalty. Everything we asked for was delivered promptly and with impeccable attention to detail and elegant service. The staff in the photo office never seem interested sadly - it seems a bit too much effort for them to help you choose memorable pictures. The wedding office staff were very good overall, but do not actually listen to requests - if they cannot tick a box on their form, they do not know how to do it. Pools The pools and surrounding areas were great overall. But the main pool was a bit cold and far too noisy too often. Some music playing is great, but at times it was so loud that sitting next to each other, we had to shout and even then we could not hear each other. Starting the music up at 7am is a bit early, too. They also had a really tacky staff introduction "show" by the pool on Mondays, which featured strip-club-esque twerking. Not what you want from staff at a 5* hotel – it was embarrassing and the lowest point of our holiday. Wedding Our wedding was absolutely perfect. Massive thanks to the entire Sandals’ team for making our day so memorable. The location, ceremony and food were stunning. A very special thank you and high praise to Andrew, our wedding photographer who was quite simply flawless. Our wedding coordinator, Crystal, was very helpful throughout. Only minor criticisms...our ceremony started late (100% down to Sandals, not us) and thereafter, some of the event was hurried along as they were trying to make up the time that they lost (we carried on at our own pace though). They started serving food while we were still making our speeches and Darrien (wedding organiser) was flustered and hassling us about when we should be doing our first dance. Later on, he relaxed and became a good host. Some things were not included in our “free” wedding including lighting for our meal. We spent around $8,000 overall on extras. These are only very minor issues and they did not detract from a fabulous day. For the first week, our wifi was excellent, one of the best signals and speeds I have encountered at Sandals. But on day nine, it kept dropping and from then onwards it was really poor. I believe Sandals themselves had an internal issue sadly. The “extra” activities are generally a waste of time. For example, the wine tasting session…All they did was pour the same all-inclusive wines you drink each day for lunch or dinner and ask you to taste them. Maybe try offering some different wines. Any negatives comments are very minor though, as overall the hotel and everything that went with it was amazing and is highly recommended. We have re-booked for a return visit! I would recommend booking a private airport transfer as ours took 2h30m during rush hour. The Toyota minibuses in use are devoid of suspension on some very dodgy/bumpy roads. Also, instead of using the hotel tour desk, book a local taxi who are all guides and will take you where you want and when, so you can set your own itinerary/pace. Their prices are pretty decent too compared to the official tours.

This was our 15th time at Sandals Negril - many times more than any other resort. My wife and I go there because of the consistent quality of the resort and the weather. We were not disappointed. We stayed in Longshore Building #3 - toward the Northern part of the property. It seems that the Northern area of the property, including the beach, is quieter and shadier on the beach - which is what we like. But, it is close to the main dining area - Bayside - and the main pool and main bar. We had a room category 1B - A two-story beachfront with a butler. Our favorite restaurants were Bayside (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), Sundowner (dinner), Barefoot (breakfast), and Perla (the beach bar and grill for lunch - wonderful burgers!). We very much liked "Crema" - the new ice cream, coffee and cookies cafe. I like to sail. In Negril, it is usually not very windy, but it picked up a couple of afternoons and I enjoyed going out. We enjoyed playing bingo and trivia at the pool bar at the main pool. There is plenty to do whether you are more active or not. All of the staff were nice and helpful. But we thank the following specific staff members for making our visit special: Our butlers: Orlando and Gawayne. At the main bar: Sandra, Fasha, and Jaleel. At Perla: Lois and Jhanelle. Piano bar: Chris. Bayside: Sashay (who makes great omelets and eggs to order!), Phillip, Leman, Daneika, Aneita, and Kendra. Barefoot: Lloyd Trinia. While there, we booked our trip for next year.

We have just returned from our 10th visit to this resort … why do we keep coming back ? We just love this place and the wonderful people we have come to know and the service and experience we receive every visit. We stay in the 2 story butler rooms near the dive shop side of the resort. We find that it is quieter and we enjoy the views from our deck. We have requested the same butlers every year and Theida and Basil are amazing! They have our chairs set up by the beach .. make reservations for dinner and just take really good care of us. They are wonderful! My husband is a scuba diver but wasn’t able to this year because of some health issues. However we always like to give this amazing dive team recognition for their outstanding skills and knowledge. He became certified there and has always enjoyed diving with them. We like to thank Josh, Emron, Sanjay, Tristen, Robin and the entire staff ! They have done some updates this year to the resort including the new building with swim up suites and rooms with a private pool.. they look amazing ! Also added is an ice cream/coffee shop Creamery… we enjoyed that many evenings and Olivia was always greeting us with a smile and outstanding service! We always enjoy breakfast at Bayside.. delicious omelettes made to order and a lovely selection of breakfast goodies. We were greeted every day with a beautiful smile and warm good morning from our favorites Kendra and Daneika .. they are the best!! The staff at this resort is always friendly and helpful..we also enjoyed a couples massage which was so relaxing! See Simone at the spa.. you will love it! We have booked our return visit for next year .. we do that because you you will find the staff in the Sandals Loyalty and Travel to be must helpful in finding the best values. We had Merlene and she was wonderful. We look forward to returning next year and we have a special place in our hearts for this resort and the entire staff that makes every day special !

We love staying at Sandals resorts and have stayed at several. The experience at Sandals Negril was by far the worst experience. While we loved the property and activities, some of the staff needs training. When we arrived they brought us to club sandals, the woman behind the desk did not acknowledge us for 5 minutes, then said that she would get us a signature drink, I asked instead for a glass of Champaign, she got annoyed and said I would like the signature drink…I did not, I asked again for a glass of champagne, her response was that the butler would bring it. The butler Kendrick arrived with no champagne and ushered us to our room. The room we originally booked (and paid a premium for) was next to 4 rooms under construction our room that was a penthouse butler suite, was old, outdated and reeked of paint fumes so much so that it made me physically ill also the view was of the corner of a pool and debris from trees. When we told Kendrick we could not stay in the room, he seemed annoyed and left to call someone. Leaving us in the room that was making us sick. He came back 20 minutes later, told us to grab our own things and walked in front of us to our new room on the other side of the resort. The new room was a 2 floor suite, much nicer and updated, however the hot water did not work and the air condition was loud and rattled. We complained about the hot water but it was never fixed. We also asked Kendrick to have breakfast delivered at 8:45 it was delivered at 7:45 every day even when we asked for it to be changed. In addition, when Kendrick was walking us to dinner he was disconnected to the point of answering his phone multiple times and completely ignoring my husband while he was asking a question, he simply acted like no one was talking. Wadea our other butler was OUTSTANDING!! She very much cared about our experience and did everything she could to make our trip amazing. She was personable and kind made all our reservations, brought our favorite food and drinks to us on the beach and in our room, drew us a beautiful bubble bath and had cold champagne waiting she was the highlight of this trip. The food at this resort pales in comparison to other sandals that we have stayed. There are only 6 restaurants, every meal was really good, but nothing was great and if you like late dinner reservations like we do they are often out of menu items. Martel at the Piano bar is awesome and fun!! We went there multiple nights. We booked a private charter boat ride. It was pricier than group excursions but SO worth it!! We really got to see the island, swim in caves and briefly stop at Ricks. Highly recommend! Overall the resort itself is beautiful and the activities were a lot of fun we had a great trip but it did not meet our expectations from other Sandals.

We just came back from Sandals Negril and the experience was spectacular. This is our first Sandals stay and exceed our expectations. More than everything, the resort staff made the difference. Once the staff knew that we are there for our 25th anniversary, they made everything special. The room was decorated with balloons, rose petals remembered our early marriage days. Special thanks to Neno, genuinely good man! We paid for candle light dinner, the arrangement was so nice. Dont miss that, you will not repent. Photo shoot was also worth it. Room: We wanted a direct access to the beach, so we stayed in Longshore Beachfront Grande Luxe Club Level Room w/ Patio Tranquility Soaking Tub. Within 40 feet, we have the beach, we enjoyed daily walks in the morning and evening. Food: The best restaurant is Brava (Spanish cuisine) and the next is Sundowner (Carribean cuisine). Thanks to Orlando, got us special cocktails, ask for Bob Marley, you will love it. Remember, this is more like a low key, laid back but still lively Sandals. If you want more closer to action, try out Sandals Sandy Bay. Photos: We booked free photo shoot and Jermaine is the man. He really cares, and helps with the poses. Dont miss that and book it in advance. Even though they sell the photos (expensive), these are memories and should not hesitate to buy a few. A professional photographer is always better than asking someone to take a picture in your iphone. Pictures came out extremely good. Jamaica in general: People are friendly, as long as you respect them, be polite it will be ok. There is rich culture, try to learn that. Day trips: DONT GO TO RICK"S CAFE. There is nothing there, hot sun, too much crowd. If you want to do deep water jumps, then it is worth it. Otherwise, you will have better sunset views from the beach at Sandals. We also booked through Island Tours and went to Jamwest (30-40 min from Sandals) for ATV and Horse Rides. We took the 8am trip and we are back by 1.30. The place is reasonable, management is terrific, no wait time to be picked up between the rides and the attractions are good. Remember to take some cash, they are heavily focused on tips. Dont go to mineral bath, me and my wife got rashes all over the body. A small bird sanctuary is good, dont miss that. Parrots will land on your hands and watching them eat food so quickly is fun. Overall: Sandals Negril is a thin but long resort located on the 7 mile beach, well maintained, great staff, clean and laid back place. The only problem is airport ride is 1.15 minutes, but we can take that to get a good resort experience. Good luck and safe travels.

The staff at this resort go above and beyond to make your vacation feel special. We’ve stayed at this resort many times, and with each visit we are reminded that it is the people and the beach that bring us back. We always stay in a butler level room. For us, the additional cost is well worth it to have someone who attends to all the details and makes the vacation run smoothly. Orlando and Gwayne are our preferred butlers. This past visit Gwayne was out but Damian filled in with professionalism and was terrific. From the moment we arrive on property to seeing us out the door at departure Orlando makes sure that whatever it is we need is taken care of and provides things we hadn’t even thought of to make the vacation special! Every morning we walk down past the Beaches resort. The water and natural beauty are amazing. On our walks and from the paddle boards we used everyday we saw: adult and baby Rays, gorgeous colored fish, starfish. The natural beauty is worth seeking out. A recent storm has washed up some debris but this also made for excellent shell hunting! The size of the resort is a bit smaller, but this makes it feel more intimate and the staff remember you! Claudia and Keith on the evening main bar staff made us laugh and made fantastic drinks! Claudia makes each and every drink special and she is an absolute professional. The breakfast at Barefoot by the Sea was our choice every day we were on property. Daynia, Trinia and the rest of the staff greet you with a smile every morning (what a great way to start the day!) and are professional and courteous. Daynia obviously works tremendously hard to keep the everything at Barefoot breakfast and Sundowner lunch running smoothly with excellent service and a top notch team. The new restaurant Brava was delicious. Renae worked very hard to accommodate everyone’s requests (we witnessed her deal with some negativity with great professionalism) Tavia, Toneyann, Sania and Juan were professional, courteous and made our meals at Brava special. Leman at Bayside lunch was a hard worker, hustling with a smile. Pamella, Ashlee and the team in the Loyalty Office made sure we are coming back with a professionalism, personal attention and laughter! Pamella is an absolute pro. She handles requests, inquiries and runs the best loyalty office in the Sandals brand, in our experience. We have debated whether the cost increases are justified. Orlando, Gwayne, Pamella, Daynia, Claudia and the rest of staff at Negril help create an atmosphere and environment that make it worth it for us. A Con: More attention and resources could be allocated for updates of existing rooms and infrastructure. For example, we had no running water in our room on a couple of occasions and there are areas showing wear and tear (example: exterior showers and faucets to rinse feet off from the beach). Do not read further unless you are an animal lover or management :) …The cats on property help keep away unwanted pests. They are friendly and not intrusive. We hope that the new management continues to work with Negril Spay and Neuter Clinic to fix the resort cats. The cats are a fun part of our vacation! See you next year Negril!

We stayed in the ocean front rooms in the main section. The rooms were very dated and small nothing special. We had the call every day to get wine restocked in our room which at times took quite a while and rarely did they actually bring the wine we requested. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The Twin Oaks brand of Robert Mondavi is very poor. Tastes like a home made brand. The food was fair at best and it took a very long time to get served anything. Several times they ran out of items (lobster calamari and even nacho chips one day) We ordered room service which was poor. For example the charcuterie board was a few pieces of cheese and crackers with some lunch meat and stale cold garlic bread and the cheese plate was the same minus the bread and meat. It was next to impossible to get a beach chair as they allowed patrons to keep personal items for the week to reserve their spot. We were served only twice on the beach in an entire week. They did not cater to anyone that did not have their butler service. Most of the staff were pleasant but not all of them. Certainly not the pampering treatment one would expect. This is far from a five star resort we would rate it a 3.5 star and certainly not worth the price.
