Once again, we spent a wonderful vacation at couples swept away in Negril, Jamaica.
People who expect a 5 star resort to mean fancy and elegant are missing the point. We chose this place because it is relaxing and laid back. We are not big into nightlife, so this is the perfect place for us. There is entertainment after dinner, so if you want to stay up late you can do so. The staff were (almost) all very friendly and very accommodating. The day after our arrival, I requested a mattress topper and it was placed on our bed later that day.
We had a first floor ocean view verandah suite. I do wish with that we had known that we could have gotten a key for our verandah door before the last day of our vacation.
Over all, I would recommend this place as a very relaxing place to stay with a wonderful beach, good food, and wonderful stafff.
Kevin, with water sports, made snorkeling very fun as this was my 1st time.
Stacey B, at Patois, always made us feel welcome. Shanice, with activities, made us feel like we were at home. Tashaya, the nature wall guide, was very friendly and informative. Canute, our server at Lemongrass, was excellent. Trecell, Monique, Ivan, Queen Sheena, and Lilieth, were also staff that I made sure to remember as giving us outstanding service.
Skip the Appleton Estate tour as the trip there is 2.5 hours each way. Admission for the tour is only $30, but transportation was $70 each!
We will probably be back, but with other places to explore, it may not be right away.

Average resort. Definitely not a 5 star

Let me start by saying this is NOT a 5 star resort whatsoever. We've stayed at many much nicer resorts that were considered 5 star. The ride to the hotel from the airport was just under 2 hours. Left at 2:30 and arrived at 4:20! Upon arrival, the lobby appears dated with a lot of wear and tear. Nothing fancy at all. Just plain green and tan tiles, green walls, etc. The resort consists of about maybe 40 smaller buildings surrounded by overgrown landscaping. Some with 2 floors, some 3. Now mind you, the buildings don't have elevators! 11 of the buildings are close to the road so if you're lucky like us, you'll get a room near the main road and you could hear the cars roaring by. The rooms appear to have been updated not too long ago and are decent but they're very plain. They're not very big rooms either. The beach chairs were hard vinyl chairs and to make them more comfortable, they place foam rafts on top of them. Not what I expect at a 5 star. There were only 4 or 5 huts on the beach. Everyone pushed their chairs in-between all the palm trees to get shade. Many of the chairs were filthy with bird poop, sand, etc. Not consistent with a 5 star resort whatsoever. The buffets were limited but the food was good. Just about all the food we ate was really good. Service was so so. Not bad by any means but certainly not what I've gotten elsewhere. Nightlife is almost non existent. Not much to do after dinner. I can't discourage anyone from checking this place because so many have raved about it but we probably won't return. We honestly don't know what they're comparing this place to to think it's so great. In fact, we actually considered leaving early after one night. The beach was nice but most of the beaches in Jamaica are.

Nice Vacation

My husband and I stayed here for a week in December. The grounds and the beach are beautiful. We spent a lot of time walking around the resort and up and down the beach. There are a lot of vendors on the beach which get annoying but they are pretty good about leaving you alone if you say no thanks. We both thought the food and food service was ok, but could have been better. The first night we arrived was lobster night. We elected to go to the Palms and shared a table with other people because it was very busy. Our appetizers, salads and soups came out timely, but it took almost and hour and a half to get our lobster. The server kept telling us it was coming and it never did until another lady brought it out for us. When we finally got it, it was cold and rubbery. So sadly, that was a disappointment. Our experience at the other restaurants was alright, but not spectacular. The last night we were there we ate at Feathers. We had a 9pm reservation. When our dinners came they tasted like they had been sitting out for a while. It took the server a long time to bring out the dinner, a long time to take the plates away, and a even longer time to bring dessert menus. We thought it was kind of ridiculous because there was only us and one other couple still eating. There was no reason it should have been taking that long. Eventually we got tired of waiting for him to come back and we just left without dessert. It felt like they were more concerned with cleaning up and shutting things down for the night instead of taking care of us. So, overall the dining experience could have been much better and it was like that most of the week. We did however enjoy the many activities the resort had to offer and the employees who hosted them. We also loved the water sports and the staff, they were always friendly and a lot of fun. We also went on the glass bottom boat tour, did snorkeling, and went on the shopping trip. Highly recommend all of them. One other things I would suggest is not staying in the rooms by the Palms or near the road. There is like no sound proofing in the rooms and we were constantly woken up by employees working early in the morning and by beeping horns and motorbikes driving by. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this resort. It is really a beautiful place with a lot of fun things to do.

First time to Jamaica and to Couples Swept Away... We loved it!! Beautiful Beach , Friendly Staff, Great Food!!

Room - We stayed in the Atrium Rm 1116 it was close to the lobby and on the lower level . If we were to come back I would recommend an upper unit and bit farther away from the road.

Food- We did Patios two Nights for dinner and another for breakfast .. { Must have the banana French toast }. We had dinner reservations at Feathers and enjoyed our meal there as well. Buffet was also good always could find something to eat ..

Entertainment - Piano Bar and Martini Bar were a lot of fun loved all the bartenders they do a great job ! They do have a Dj that plays music as well and while it’s a Small night club we still had fun .

** We went to Ricks Cafe took a taxi $20pp seemed a bit pricey but glad we went , if you have time go check it out !

** Tiki pon de Sea One love booze cruise so much fun recommend checking it out !!

Overall I think it was a great resort , low key with a beautiful beach and for the most part friendly staff ! Hope to go back some day ...

Great as Usual

Have been to Swept Away many times. Common sense says that if it wasn;t good we would not return so often. Our transfer from the airport took nearly three hours but that wasn't the fault of the resort just the driver of the mini-bus transfer who appeared to be blind when other vehicles came towards him with their lights on.
All the restaurants in the resort have varied and great menus. Something for everyone.
We had our usual top floor room in the two storey building and we didn't have a lift exactly the same as Pauly. However, managed to climb the one flight of stairs.
Rooms are clean and contain everything required, toiletries, many towels and a well stocked fridge with drinks by request. A large balcony with lounger, couch and table.
The beach is fabulous, possibly the best in Jamaica. The beach is long with a line of palms between the resort buildings and the sea. Ideal for shade if required.
Entertainment is varied and of great quality.
