How to Get There
This was our fourth trip to Couples Negril. Always wonderful, but this time we experienced the most incredible service we have ever had. Just about every single person we encountered gave us a hello and warm friendly smile. Everyone went out of their way for us, and made our time extra special. I wish I could remember every single name, but some standouts include, Moveta at the au bar, she is wonderful, went out of her way for us, including going out of her way to get even the smallest question answered, she radiates joy and warmth. Her fill in Kevin was great. Tricia, our server for our private dinner on the beach was awesome! made us feel like royalty. ( I highly recommend the private dinner on the beach, very romantic ) bring bug spray! even during the day those nasty sand fleas got me bad. We went night snorkeling for the first time and saw a lot of cool stuff, including turtle, lobsters, crabs, octopus, stingray, and other fish. Food, all wonderful, room, comfortable and roomy, great shower pressure! The performer Donavon sounds better than ever. He sings on the beach, piano bar, and one night on the main stage while we were there. Lots of activities if you want. We mostly enjoyed the beautiful water and beach the whole time there, and stayed for the sunsets most nights. You cant go wrong with this resort. Also, we enjoyed Roberta, one of the trainees at breakfast. We look forward to seeing our special friend Elkie at the bar every time we come back. The beautiful beach, ocean, relaxing, quiet atmosphere, and fabulous food keep us coming back, as well as the lovely, friendly people who work there. They make our vacations extra special always!
We just returned from Couples Negril after 5 fabulous days. We traveled with 3 other couples. We travel often and alway go to all inclusive resorts.
Couples Negril resort was as described. It is older but still wonderful. The trip from the airport was about an hour 15-20 min. We immediately checked in to our room. Fast process. We were assigned to a ground floor room but were immediately moved to the second floor after we asked for a non ground level room. We were in building 5 by the water sports area and loved the location. The room was clean and fresh. The beds were comfy and the shower heads were fantastic. Again, the place is a little dated but still nice. The food was great. Only one restaurant required reservations which was so nice. We could just walk into all the other ones. Dress code was relaxed. The veggie bar was great. He got coconut water all day from there. The omelets were great at the breakfast buffet. We loved the scallops and lamb they serve at the one of the restaurants. We enjoyed the sunset cruise to the caves and loved going down the slide. They crew was fun and amazing. We loved the paddle boarding, sailing and snorkeling. We say a giant stingray on the shore, many fish and starfishes. The entertainment was fabulous. Some of the best i have ever seen/heard. Super talented musicians. Lots of great things at Couples. We played volleyball every day. Sand and pool. We met lots of people. Most were returning guest. Most had been there a handful of times. One of the best things about this resort is the size. Its small and intimate. We loved all the floats too! Hundreds of floats to use by the pool and in the ocean. Big plus, we have been to other resorts were you have to fight for floats. The MAIN reason we chose this resort was the beach. It was amazing and did not disappoint. The beach is so clear and blue. Just breath taking.
The not so good:
Resort is very dark. It was a little scary walking to our room at night.
The waiters at breakfast were always annoyed when we ordered lattes or cappuccino instead of coffee. They often rolled their eyes. This was annoying.
Amay in the grill bar was the only one that made us lattes with a smile. We called them Amay’s amazing lattes. She was awesome.
The pool service was way slow. We would order drinks and have to wait 20-30 min. Having traveled to many different islands and locations, we have come to the realization that we can not expect the same service we receive in Mexico and Dominican Republic. It’s just a different pace. It’s very “island time”. But, we book our trip knowing that. So we expected it at some level.
Over all our Couples Negril vacay was great!
Absolutely loved this place. Staff were very friendly. Everyone we met there it was either their first time there, like us, or it was their 2nd, 5th, 10th or more time visiting this resort, with no "Time Share" members! That says alot about this resort.
This is definitely a mixed review, but we won’t return.
Pros: some of the staff was attentive and friendly; the room was spacious and clean and we loved the shower; the beach was great - beautiful sand, clean clear water; enjoyed the water activities: night snorkel, sunset cruise and tried stand up paddle boarding finally!
Cons: many of the staff barely looked, spoke or smiled at us; we had a deluxe ocean room, but our view was of the fish pond - could barely see slivers of ocean from our third floor balcony; not impressed with mini bar options; most of the food was good, nothing special and the dress code was clearly not enforced at the reservations only restaurant; building 8 has too much noise from the street, and there’s an airport across the street; the resort definitely had more of a spring break vibe: noisy, loud groups, a lot of cussing - we were thinking a couples resort would be quieter and more romantic; smokers on the beach leaving butts in the sand -yuck. We had a resort credit due to the price match, but the front desk didn’t have it; we had to go to guest relations to ask for it, that seemed a little sketchy to me. Definite miscommunication on the day we checked out: porter came to pick up our luggage an hour earlier than our instructions said and seemed really miffed that we weren’t ready, we showed him our instructions and no apologies from him or the front desk. Not sure what happened but we were at the airport 3 hours early!
We’ve stayed at another branded couples only resort and Couples Negril pales in comparison.
We went there for 4 nights and the resort was just perfect. The room we got offered was not to our liking ( View ) and they reacted immediately. We where moved in to building 6 and our room had a great view to the water and the lush tropical landscape.
The culinary experience was great, a lot of different options for every taste. The staff was great and very friendly. The room clean, the entertainment was a delight. All the activities where free.Wind surfing ,snorkeling, paddle boards ect.
Overall a great experiance
