Wild coastlines, safaris teeming with ambling elephants and the biggest concentration of leopards in the world, tropical seas with blue whales and spinner dolphins, Sri Lanka is an untamed Eden waiting to be experienced. Once a Dutch colony, the country has also retained its colonial architecture, lush tea plantations and love for cricket. Grown into its own, Colombo is a vibrant city rich in heritage and culture.
All of Sri Lanka’s wonders can be experienced with a stay at the luxe Anantara Kalutara Resort. The resort sits surrounded by water – between the golden sands of Sri Lanka’s coastline and a peaceful lagoon of the Kalu Ganga River. The resort’s design was inspired by the vision of Geoffrey Bawa – Sri Lanka’s most famous architect. Elegant with modern interiors and touches of traditional motifs bring a sense of peace and tranquility to the spectacular property.
Relaxation is the order of the day here. Dream away in your comfortable lagoon-view rooms, take languid dips in the outdoor pool, get a massage at the Anantara Spa or take excursions through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world.
How to Get There
They try hard at this Anantara. The staff is very friendly and gives it's best.
However, service (e.g. at breakfast) is slow and they need much training.
The breakfast buffet is very good but lunch and dinner need improvement.
However, they now have a new Swiss chef, so it may become better soon.
The rooms are spacious and clean, beds are comfortable. If the staff would be trained better, it could become a very good hotel. It's got potential.
Luxury hotel in Kalutara, Sri Lanka. Would recommend anyone to go there and have a lovely stay. Fine dining, pool, games, kids area are available.
Anyone looking for a lovely getaway this is an ideal hotel.
Had a perfect short holiday at Anantara Kalutara. We went for a wedding but extended our stay and it was worth it! The resort is one of the cleanest, neatest resorts that you will find anywhere. The Bathrooms are perfect, large and spotless. The people are very warm and friendly and try very hard to take special care of you. The breakfast spread is a standout with a huge spread. The lunch and dinner a la carte menu is not huge but everything that is served is delicious!
Whilst staying in Colombo for a couple of nights, we took the hotel car to have lunch at Aquolina. Great Italian cuisine. Chef is clearly trained at some of the best schools. Superb ingredients and thank you to Shan for looking after us so well. We are veggies so asked for penne arrabiata and another pasta dish. Really tasty. We were a little disappointed with the hotel’s beach, but understand it’s undergoing work.
