Wild coastlines, safaris teeming with ambling elephants and the biggest concentration of leopards in the world, tropical seas with blue whales and spinner dolphins, Sri Lanka is an untamed Eden waiting to be experienced. Once a Dutch colony, the country has also retained its colonial architecture, lush tea plantations and love for cricket. Grown into its own, Colombo is a vibrant city rich in heritage and culture.
All of Sri Lanka’s wonders can be experienced with a stay at the luxe Anantara Kalutara Resort. The resort sits surrounded by water – between the golden sands of Sri Lanka’s coastline and a peaceful lagoon of the Kalu Ganga River. The resort’s design was inspired by the vision of Geoffrey Bawa – Sri Lanka’s most famous architect. Elegant with modern interiors and touches of traditional motifs bring a sense of peace and tranquility to the spectacular property.
Relaxation is the order of the day here. Dream away in your comfortable lagoon-view rooms, take languid dips in the outdoor pool, get a massage at the Anantara Spa or take excursions through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world.
How to Get There
This review is on behalf of my mother and her best friend who recently stayed at this luxurious hotel.
This stay was sponsored by my self as a treat for my mom.
They were treated with utmost care and respect by the staff at anantara greeting and welcoming them with a dance and other rituals.
The concierge Mr. Shehan has showed them around the hotel while Ms. Sajani and Ms. Anjela had treated them with extreme warmth and hospitality. The beautiful smile of Ms. Anjela adds a tremendous flavour to this extraordinary hotel. She had very well looked after my mother and her friend and had taken responsibility in making their stay a memorable one.
However their had been an unfortunate incident where Mr. Eranda (Seemed like a senior staff member or manager) had spoken very rudely to Ms. Anjela in front of my mother asking her to get back to her desk whilst she had been greeting my mother and welcoming them to the hotel. Such immature behavior by a senior staff member is inappropriate for a distinguished hotel as Anantara and I hope the management takes proper action in rectifying such incidents from reoccurring.
It was brought to my attention that the dinner buffet could have had more of a variety of food, yet understanding the current situation of the country and the number of occupents at the hotel during this time of the year that they didn't want to make it a great issue.
Other than that, the rest of the stay had been very pleasant and my mother and her friend had been amazed by the contemporary activities that took place at this remarkably beautiful massive hotel and wanted to state that this has been their utmost memorable stay and is certainly looking forward in visiting this hotel again.
On my next visit from Australia, I would also love to experience the contemporary feel of Anantara.
Wishing the hotel and all the remarkable staff the very best!!!
Beautiful hotel that is well located. Friendly and helpful staff who are very happy to assist with any request. Fabulous and spacious room.Loss of power in the room so we had no electricity but the engineers were able to fix the problem.
We stayed at Anantara Kalutara over the weekend and we simply loved our stay. The service is exceptional, If you value attention to detail and luxury accommodation this is the place for you. From the time you walk in to the hotel until you leave it’s an amazing experience. It seems like the entire process have been structured very well. There is a surprise where ever you go. At the pool side they gave us a nice cold towel , sunscreen and fresh fruit and detox water. There is a ice cream cart for kids if they want a sweet treat or even for us if we want to beat the heat. At meal times the kids were treated so well with the staff been so happy to serve their preferences. Even at the bar the waiter inquired about their preferences of fresh juice. My husband and I were simply delighted and also so proud that the standard of customer service were surpassed with hotels like this in our country, This is what we need to compliment our beautiful landscape.
The Room was exceptionally good with great bedding , walk in closet, Nespresso machine and a lovely wine humidor. We had a beautiful pool/ lagoon view.
The food was great too the bakery items and the quality of meat was just great. Like I said at the start of my review if you value quality this is the place for you.
A most beautiful hotel with a sea view room. You could see the sea just lying down in your bed. Tucked away between the sea & the lagoon, you can enjoy a view of your choice. Staff is so nice & friendly, ever helpful too. Food was good, especially the Sunday breakfast!
Our welcome & sendoff was an experience in itself. We enjoyed every minute of the time we spent at Anantara
