In the Area
The hotel sits right along Colombo’s famous Galle Face Green, an oceanside promenade laid out by governor Sir Henry Ward in 1857, when Sri Lanka was under British rule. Today the busy green space is a popular spot for walkers, cricket players, kite flyers and street food vendors. Settle down at night to watch the sunset while feasting on the offerings from the stalls, or stroll down to the colonial-era Galle Face Hotel for a cocktail on the iconic veranda. When you’re ready to explore, Colombo’s major tourist sights, as well as shopping malls and the ritzy residential enclave of Cinnamon Gardens, are just a tuk-tuk ride away. Find a well-curated selection of original home goods and colonial knickknacks at Paradise Road Studio. Gambling is legal in Colombo for foreign passport holders, and two casinos, the MGM and Bellagio (no relation to the Las Vegas casino of the same name), are within easy reach.
How to Get There
Our dinner out was amazing with G/D staff food was amazing & the service was superb . The sever who’s served us was brilliant & we had all this because of Angela she recommended us to come for chines new year Thank you very much
My self and my family went there to have lunch and ordered some Buriyani, the food came in a clay pot and the food was excellent. Very tasty, Value for money.
The restaurant staff was very helpful when ordering food and highly customer oriented. service was fantastic. I remember some names, Mr. Anura he served our table, did a fantastic job. Mr. Charuka and Mr. Lasantha were the others who looked after our table.
The chef himself came and he was personally checking with us about how we feel about the food quality and taste, that's a very nice way to get feedback from customers..! I haven't seen that kind of customer orientation in some other restaurants in that area.
Anyway... its a good place to have a meal with friends and family or by yourself. I highly recommend Navaratna Indian Restaurant by Taj Samudra Colombo - Sri Lanka.
Golden Dragon @ Taj Samudra visited for dinner. great food. Excellent service level of the staff and superb ambience. We were served by Vijitha and couple of more staff. The food tasted authentic. Thank you
Stayed at the hotel in February. Staying at a Taj is always exceptional, but even among the Taj family Samudra is a cut above. Excellent facilities coupled with the human touch were evident during my stay. The team at the Port of Call restaurant was ever ready to help, and special mention goes to Morin, Deshani and chef Dayalan. Will definitely be back in Colombo!
The stay at Taj one of my most memorable trips as my husband and I were on our honeymoon and the Taj ensured we felt that way. From the amazing room to the service that was provided to us, we simply could not have asked for better. Mr. Diganta Chakraborty was extremely hospitible and gave us an opportunity to taste one of best teppanyaki (Chef Bandara and Mr. Vipula) that we have ever had whilst ensuring we were comfortable at all times. What stands out was the impeccable service and outstanding hospitality !
