Designed by architect Sunela Jawardene, Colombo Courtyard is a pint-size urban boutique hotel with just 32 rooms and 15 suites. A welcome departure from Colombo’s big box hotels. Interiors marry recycled materials with industrial-chic design. Think uncluttered open spaces punctuated with metal art installations, sculptures and dramatic lighting. Up at the Loft Bar there is recycled furniture such as vintage tractor stools and steel roof sheets, while the Scarlet Room restaurant falls more on the cozy side, dotted with spectacular photographs of the island.
Bed & Bath
Rooms pair cement and wood furnishings with bright hues, while suites (with separate parlors) offer a bit more elbow room — plus individual iMacs. All rooms have plenty of electrical outlets and creature comforts like 42-inch flat-screen SMART TVs, cappuccino makers and plump beds, as well as quirky extras like a retro hand-operated juicer and a bowl of oranges for fresh-squeezed OJ.
The Loft Lounge Bar is a cool hangout for guests and locals, as is the rooftop Cloud Café, where you can take in the city skyline over a long drink and some pub grub. The Scarlett Room is a full-service restaurant with affordable Mediterranean/Italian fare and the pun-tastic wine cellar, Grape Expectations, pairs New World wines and tapas. There’s also the newly opened swimming pool and pool bar at the Poolside Wing, which hugs the tranquil lap pool. Sun worshipers can pull up a lounger or hop in the courtyard’s plunge pool and Jacuzzi. Or kick back with a Balinese massage or a hot stone treatment at the Amber Spa.
How to Get There
Can not recommend Colombo court hotel enough, this was our second stay and the service and facilities were as good as when they first opened. The hotel is a small boutique style hotel with an absolutely perfect location just off Galle road. There are many great restaurants and shops all within walking distance and the hotel will organise taxis or local tuk tuk rides for you easily. The rooms are very well appointed with huge bathrooms and every convenience you could need, our room has its own iMac for our personal use! The hotel has a great pool, complete with a small jacuzzi/plunge pool and a small spa, which we found was excellent. The great thing about the hotel is the service, nothing is too much trouble, everyone is so friendly and no small request is overlooked. Breakfast can be western or local Sri Lankan style and I would highly recommend their rooftop bar for a sundowner to start the night off in the right way. Wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else in the very heart of Colombo.
Love the recycled iron which has been made into art features, sustainable and chic!
This is a real hidden gem and treat.
We started off our honeymoon here for one night and kicking ourselves we didn't stay for 2.
The hotel looks 1000 times better in real life than in any of the photos.
Staff where so friendly on arrival. We were offered some cold wet towels and a drink on arrival which where really needed after a balmy drive to the hotel.
They had upgraded us to a suit as it was our honeymoon and gave us a chocolate congratulations cake. So very thoughtful and made our stay that wee bit more special.
The room was clean and the selection of toiletries in the bathroom was amble.
The bed was so comfy and there was a safe and air conditioning.
We ate dinner in the roof top bar. Again fab staff, good choice and tasty food. There was also a band playing.
The next morning we ate breakfast by the pool and went for a western breakfast. It was plentiful and yummy.
Unfortunately we didn't have time to use the pool but my goodness it looks wonderful and very inviting.
It is a wee bit of paradise in a crazy wonderful busy city.
Once again, for the 3. time it was a hospitable stay at Colombo Court Hotel & Spa. The perfect location to the nearby center of Colombo. Only 3-4 minutes walk to the busy Colombo- Galle Main Road with a lot of boutiques, malls and restaurants. By a Meter-tuktuk 15/ 20 minutes to Fort Railway Station for 350 rubies.
The hotel stuff is great and helpful any time of the day. After shopping & strolling in the city the hotel pool is a great place for relaxing and some refreshments :)
Spent two nights here at the end of a two weeks trip of Sri Lanka. Very nice room with huge bathroom. We also had our own little garden. Staff was polite and helpful. Would definitely stay at the hotel again.
We had a busy schedule in Colombo and staying at the Colombo Court Hotel & Spar certainly made it much easier!
It is situated right in the center of Colombo with easy access to offices, and shops. If you don’t have your own transport, the doorman will get you a taxi ( or three wheeler) in no time at all.
The staff is wonderful; helpful and discreet at the same time.
We stayed in room 207 which is very spacious and offers all the mod-coms of any 5 star boutique hotel. The decor is tasteful and functional.
The hotel has a restaurant and one can either sit in or outside under the mango tree! The menu offers local , western and Indian dishes. Room service too is available. In the rooftop cocktail lounge one can listen to music ( sometime there is a live band) and enjoy a drink and a meal under the stars!
For those who have had a hard day out and about in Colombo, the pool, jacuzzi and massage is very welcome. My husband said that the massage was one of the best he had ever had ( and he has had many due to his bad back)!
We highly recommend this city hotel .
